"What insanely strong corrosion! So the dark element's trait is actually corrosion—this is just terrifying!" Evan Chu couldn't help blurting out.
His own body’s defenses were supposed to be monstrous, but even just getting brushed by the enemy’s residual scythe-qi had left him with such a serious wound. If he took a direct hit, the damage would be way worse. Evan Chu couldn’t help glancing over at Shadow in the distance.
Shadow had actually taken a full hit from that scythe-qi, and Evan couldn’t help worrying about him. But right now, he couldn’t break away—another dark monster was already charging at him.
Inside his body, Wood-element power rushed to repair the corroded wound. Evan Chu felt like he hadn’t been injured this badly in ages. Furious, he swung his Frostbane Divine Sword, unleashing a quick slash at the monster.
Clang! A metallic crash echoed through the dark space as Evan’s Frostbane Divine Sword chopped straight through the monster’s black scythe, the sword-qi tearing open its chest and blasting it hundreds of meters away before it finally stopped.
Evan Chu himself was knocked back dozens of meters by the backlash. It was obvious who was stronger, but he didn’t come out unscathed either—a fresh wave of pain hit, and the muscles on his chest started to corrode again, reeking horribly.
"Goldwing, Shadow, these guys have crazy corrosion—be careful!" Evan shouted, flashing over to Shadow right after the monster was sent flying.
Looking closely, Evan saw a huge patch of pitch-black dead flesh on Shadow’s chest. Shadow’s face twisted in pain.
"Big Bro, I didn’t expect that scythe-qi of his to be so insanely corrosive. My defense is supposed to be top-tier, but I couldn’t block that weird scythe-qi at all. This is the most embarrassing loss I’ve ever had." Shadow said bitterly.
"Forget about being embarrassed. I’ll kill them all and get payback for you. Anyone who dares hurt my brother is dead meat." Evan Chu promised.
The dark monster Evan had blasted away got up again, but now there was a huge hole in its chest. Its regeneration was way slower than the earlier monsters—if all of them recovered this slowly, Evan and his two beasts would be in deep trouble.
"Didn’t think you could actually hurt me. That just means you have to die even more today!" the monster snarled, flashing over to hack at Evan again.
"Hell no! You really think you’re invincible? Time to taste my Heavenfire!" Evan Chu snapped back, his Fire-element power raging as he poured it straight into the Frostbane Divine Sword.
A fiery-red sword-qi flared on the Frostbane Divine Sword. Evan unleashed Star-Cleave again, darting sideways to avoid the monster’s scythe-qi—he couldn’t risk a direct hit, so he attacked with sword-qi instead of a full-body strike.
This Star-Cleave’s sword-qi was over ten meters long, blazing red as it collided with the dark monster’s scythe-qi. The whole dark space shook violently, and the monster was instantly engulfed in Evan’s flaming sword-qi.
That sword-qi was packed with Heavenfire. As soon as it entered the monster, Heavenfire erupted inside, and the monster let out a spine-chilling scream. Within a few breaths, it was burned to absolute nothing.
One-shotting the enemy felt amazing for Evan, but the two monsters nearby were clearly shaken. They stared at him, stunned by his strength.
"Kid, who the hell are you? Why did you come into this dark space? My Darkling race has no beef with you—what are you here for?" one of the dark monsters suddenly demanded.
Evan was shocked—there were actually other races in the Immortal Realm? That was rare as hell. If there was a Darkling race, there had to be a Light race too, but he had no idea where they might be hiding.
"I came here for the Darkness Spirit Pearl. If you hand it over, maybe I’ll spare you. Otherwise, you’ll end up just like him." Evan Chu threatened.
"Dream on if you think you can get the Darkness Spirit Pearl! You think you’re worthy? Keep dreaming! You may be strong, but we’re not afraid of you. Now I’ll show you what the Darkling race can really do!" one of them roared.
The two monsters’ bodies instantly dissolved into thick dark energy, merging together. Within a few breaths, the mass grew even larger, and a three-meter-tall, pitch-black giant appeared before Evan and his two beasts.
From its aura, Evan could tell this thing had mid-stage Immortal Emperor-level power. The black scythe in its hand glowed with a cold light, radiating a terrifying killing intent throughout the dark space.
"Old Goldwing, Shadow, get back! This guy is going to be way tougher, and his corrosive scythe-qi is deadly—he could actually kill you!" Evan warned.
"Boss, be careful!" Goldwing called out.
After sizing up the enemy, Evan Chu snorted, "Even if you grow three heads and six arms, you’re still getting chopped down today. I’m ending your life right here."
He flashed forward, using Shifting Position, and unleashed another flaming sword-qi with the Frostbane Divine Sword. The giant swung its black scythe, releasing a powerful scythe-qi that Evan could tell wasn’t weaker than Hector Vaughn’s attacks.
If he took a direct hit from that scythe-qi, his body would get a huge chunk corroded away. Even now, the wound on his chest hadn’t fully healed despite frantic Wood-element repairs. That’s how terrifying this corrosion was.
Just like before, Evan dodged away after using Star-Cleave, but this time, the giant’s attack was so strong it broke through his sword-qi. Neither side took damage—it was a dead-even clash.
Fighting in this kind of space was seriously frustrating for Evan. He couldn’t use most of his skills, but at least the monster couldn’t unfold a full dark domain—if it could, he’d be in real trouble.
"Kid, you really think the same attack will work twice against us? Now I’ll show you the true power of the Darkling race—get ready to witness a real Dark Domain!" the giant growled.
"A Dark Domain? Hell, you actually know how to use that skill?!" Evan Chu was instantly dumbfounded...
