Black Mountain Imp

Although Evan Yang's explanation was simple, Richard was left both shocked and suspicious, not knowing how to respond. Evan Yang smiled and said, "Let's go—let's take him, find Harlan, and have him tell us where the Nine-Heaven Ice Lotus is."

"Okay," Richard replied, excited at the mention of the Nine-Heaven Ice Lotus. So Evan Yang and Richard took the red-marked demon and left.

After they left, the Fish-Head Demon underwater patted his back and said, "Finally gone. That's a relief."

But only a moment later, another demon entered the water, looking confused, and found the Fish-Head Demon.

The Fish-Head Demon looked the newcomer up and down, saw he was a stranger, and frowned. "Who are you? Get out of here, or I'll swallow you whole."

"Hmph! Stupid Fish-Head Demon, you don't even recognize me? I'm Black Mountain Imp, disciple of the Nine Demons of Black Mountain," the demon said.

The Fish-Head Demon was startled when he heard 'Nine Demons of Black Mountain.' "So you're Black Mountain Imp."

"Hmph, at least you know who I am. But I don't have time to argue with you. Tell me, where did the Thunderstrike Pearl go? What happened here?" Black Mountain Imp demanded.

"Yeah, that's right. They've been gone for a moment now," said the Fish-Head Demon.

"Useless! You idiot! Don't you know your only job here is to guard the Thunderstrike Pearl? How could you let it end up in another demon's hands?" Black Mountain Imp shouted angrily.

"He was strange—he wasn't afraid of my lightning at all, and I didn't have any other way to deal with him," the Fish-Head Demon replied awkwardly.

"So you just let him go? Do you realize what kind of crime that is? If my master finds out, you'll be torn to pieces!" Black Mountain Imp raged.

The Fish-Head Demon understood what Black Mountain Imp meant. He had come here specifically to guard the Thunderstrike Pearl. Except for the Nine Demons of Black Mountain, no other demon knew he could only use lightning—his other abilities were basically useless.

Evan Yang smiled. "Of course I know it."

So the Fish-Head Demon retorted, "You know I only have lightning. I can't do anything else."

The Fish-Head Demon knew this was serious—the Thunderstrike Pearl was the lifeblood of the Nine Demons of Black Mountain, and failing to guard it was a huge problem. He just wanted to tell Black Mountain Imp everything and find a chance to slip away.

After the Fish-Head Demon finished telling the whole story, Black Mountain Imp left in a fury. Before leaving, he said, "Just wait for my master to come and take your life!"

Black Mountain Imp stormed off, while the Fish-Head Demon snorted coldly, "If only I had other abilities, I wouldn't have to sit here and wait for death. No, I need to find a place to hide. Luckily, I prepared other tunnels here that you don't know about."

After muttering to himself, the Fish-Head Demon slipped into the depths and vanished beneath the water.

As for Black Mountain Imp, he left in the direction described by the Fish-Head Demon, muttering to himself, "If my master finds out, he'll be furious. I can't get dragged into this. So unlucky—why did I have to be the one on inspection duty? Damn, I just happened to be out playing these past few days."

The Nine Demons of Black Mountain treated the Thunderstrike Pearl as their lifeblood, so they guarded it carefully. Besides having the Fish-Head Demon watch underwater, disciples were posted outside as well. If anyone took the pearl, those watchers had to report its whereabouts immediately. Unfortunately, Black Mountain Imp was out wandering, and only sensed the pearl's disappearance when he returned—this shocked him greatly.

Right now, he didn't want to report to the Nine Demons of Black Mountain. He just wanted to find the pearl first, hoping it would lessen their anger.

So Black Mountain Imp rushed in one direction, but he didn't know if Evan Yang might change course along the way. He could only search along the route and nearby areas, looking for any trace of Evan Yang.

Meanwhile, Evan Yang and Richard had already returned to Happy's tribe, preparing to go to Happy's residence and find him.

Watching Evan Yang quietly zone out, the red-marked demon didn't realize Evan was absorbing the current—he was dumbfounded.

Evan Yang looked like he was enjoying himself as streams of current flowed into his body.

This continued for half a year. The currents in Evan Yang's divine-sense region grew stronger and stronger, until he finally stopped absorbing. Not only that, the pillar suddenly collapsed.

What appeared before Evan Yang was a bead that had lost its light—it was extremely dim.

When the red-marked demon saw the bead, he was shocked, then sighed helplessly to himself, "Is this it?" But thinking that Evan Yang had succeeded, he felt deeply frustrated—he'd squatted here for years just to seize this treasure, only for Evan to claim it instead.

Evan Yang curiously picked up the bead and asked, "Is this the Thunderstrike Pearl?"

"That's right, it's exactly that," the red-marked demon said.

"Oh? What's so powerful about it? Tell me," Evan Yang said.

"It's a powerful treasure in the demon realm. It can gather lightning and be used as an attack artifact—in other words, it can unleash electric attacks on others," the red-marked demon explained.

Evan Yang nodded, seeming to understand. He planned to study the Thunderstrike Pearl later. Right now, he grabbed the red-marked demon and shot out of the water—this was undoubtedly a huge gain.

But for the red-marked demon, it was the most tragic moment of his life. As Evan Yang dragged him along, he shouted angrily, "Let me go! Let me go!"

"Let you go? That's not up to you," Evan Yang replied.

"What are you planning to do?" the red-marked demon asked curiously.

"Harlan wants to see you. I'll hand you over to him," Evan Yang said.

"You—you can't do that." The red-marked demon was terrified at the thought of what he'd done to Harlan.

Evan Yang laughed. "It's not up to me. You've talked enough—time for a break. When you wake up, you'll see someone you know."

"No, you can't do this," the red-marked demon exclaimed in panic.

Evan Yang ignored him. It had taken a lot of effort and underwater advantage to subdue the demon—there was no way he'd let him go. He tapped the demon, making him pass out.

After dealing with the red-marked demon, Evan Yang brought Richard out. Seeing Richard unconscious, Evan checked him and found it was only temporary—so he woke him up.

Richard groggily woke up and saw Evan Yang at the shore. He exclaimed, "Where are we?"

"We've made it ashore," Evan Yang said with a smile.

"Ashore? What about the red-marked demon?" Richard exclaimed.

"Right behind you," Evan Yang replied with a smile.

Richard turned around and saw the red-marked demon behind him. He exclaimed, "What's going on? Why is he unconscious? And what about the Fish-Head Demon?"

"The Fish-Head Demon knocked you out with his attack. Luckily, I have a technique that can counter him, so he stayed away—or rather, he didn't want trouble, so he let us go. I found the red-marked demon elsewhere underwater, but he was restricted by the environment. I handled him, and he's still unconscious now." Evan Yang briefly explained what happened.

Although it was a simple explanation, Evan Yang’s words left Richard both shocked and suspicious, unsure how to respond. Evan Yang smiled and said, "Let’s go. Quickly, let’s take him away, find Harlan, and have him tell us the whereabouts of the Nine-Heaven Ice Lotus."

But only a few hours later, another demon entered the water, full of confusion, and found the Fish-Head Demon.

"Well, here’s what happened," the Fish-Head Demon replied, thinking for a moment before recounting the whole story. When Black Mountain Imp heard it, he was furious. "What? You’re saying some demon took the Thunderstrike Pearl!"

"Yes, that’s right. It’s been several hours since they left," said the Fish-Head Demon.

"Useless! You idiot! Don’t you know your only job here is to guard the Thunderstrike Pearl? How could you let it fall into another demon’s hands?" Black Mountain Imp shouted angrily.

"He was strange—he wasn’t afraid of my lightning at all. And I didn’t have any other way to deal with him," the Fish-Head Demon replied awkwardly.

"You—you—you’re infuriating! Hurry up and describe that person’s appearance and which way he went," Black Mountain Imp demanded angrily.
