Just as the Pavilion Master was about to leave after glancing at the crowd, the Four Young Lords and Two Saintesses stepped forward and greeted in unison, "Greetings, Pavilion Master. May we ask what brings you here today?"
Earlier, Evan Chu’s arrival was only heard by her through direct transmission, so nobody else noticed. She rushed over after hearing her disciples' account, and from their description, she could already tell that the one who killed the White Sun Sect Master was the very nemesis she was hunting for.
"Where did the Mad Young Lord fly off to? I have urgent business with him," the Heavenly Fragrance Pavilion Master asked impatiently.
Ethan Feng seemed to catch her meaning and immediately replied, "He flew off in that direction, and he left in quite a hurry. After that fierce battle, his Stellar Power should be heavily depleted. If Pavilion Master wishes to pursue, you’ll catch up with him quickly."
"Ethan Feng, you seem quite eager for me to catch up to him. What’s your real intention? Do you have some grudge against him?" the Pavilion Master asked, her eyes sharp.
"You misunderstand, Pavilion Master. How could I possibly have a grudge against Young Lord Peak? We’re friends, after all. Seeing you so anxious, I thought you had urgent matters with him. Who knew you’d misinterpret my meaning?" Ethan Feng replied quickly, sounding both defensive and polite.
But inside, Ethan was speechless—this crazy woman obviously had a bone to pick with him. Back then, dozens from Heavenly Fragrance Pavilion were slaughtered by a single youth. Now, with Young Lord Peak’s strength, even a fool could see it was him.
After all, every famous Young Lord knew him, and among those killed was an Eighth-Layer Divine Martial expert. Who else in the world could it be but him? Is this woman out of her mind?
"You’d best not meddle in my affairs, and don’t even think about following me. Otherwise, don’t blame me for turning ruthless!" With that, the Pavilion Master shot off in the direction Ethan Feng had pointed.
Evan Chu was headed straight for the riverside from that night. With his Chaos Dragon Force nearly spent, he couldn’t stay airborne for long. Seeing the great river, he landed at once.
Only after confirming that no one was chasing him did Evan Chu finally let out a breath of relief. He never expected to run into the Heavenly Fragrance Pavilion Master here—the person he dreaded most. It wasn’t that he feared she’d kill him, but rather he hated facing her, knowing full well what he’d done.
Landing on the ground, Evan found a large boulder and sat down, then took out a vial of green liquid from his storage ring and absorbed it frantically. His choice of location was no accident.
If the Heavenly Fragrance Pavilion Master really did catch up, he could dive straight into the river and use Watershift to hide his body within the water—far more convenient than Earthshift.
It wasn’t long before the Heavenly Fragrance Pavilion Master arrived. Seeing Evan Chu sitting calmly on a boulder, restoring his Stellar Power, she couldn’t help but show a complicated expression—half amused, half exasperated.
This guy was bizarre in every way. With less than Sixth-Layer Divine Martial cultivation, he could kill Ninth-Layer Divine Martial experts—utterly defying the heavens. Most terrifying of all, he somehow had a way to immobilize her. Just thinking about what happened in her own chambers, after he took control, filled her with fury.
She slowly floated down, stopping ten meters behind Evan Chu, staring at the youth she’d been obsessing over—wanting nothing more than to kill him on the spot—and said:
"You’re pretty fast, aren’t you? In a blink, you made it here. You’ve got guts, daring to restore your Stellar Power out in the open. So, tell me—how do you want to die?"
As soon as the Heavenly Fragrance Pavilion Master landed, the sword spirit had already warned Evan Chu—but he paid it no mind.
He stopped absorbing the liquid, turned slowly to face the Pavilion Master, and teased, "Haven’t seen you in a few days and you’ve gotten thinner. Missing me, maybe? Still, you’re as beautiful as ever."
The Pavilion Master was instantly furious at Evan Chu’s words. "Cut the slick talk! How do you want to die?" she snapped.
"You want the truth?" Evan Chu shot back, but seeing the anger on her face, he quickly added, "Honestly, I’d rather die of old age. Would the beautiful Pavilion Master ‘elder sister’ grant me that wish?"
"Who’s your elder sister? Don’t try to get close to me. No matter what, you’re dying today!" the Pavilion Master retorted angrily, stepping toward Evan Chu.
"Hey, don’t do anything reckless! Don’t forget who I am, or you’ll regret it!" Evan Chu warned urgently.
The Pavilion Master paused, then scoffed, "And who are you supposed to be? Just the master of the fallen Frostbane Sect, a second-rate sect. Do you really think Heavenly Fragrance Pavilion would fear someone like you?"
Evan Chu just laughed at her words, leaving the Pavilion Master confused. "What are you laughing at? Did I say something wrong?" she demanded.
"Of course you’re wrong. While I am the Frostbane Sect Master, that title means nothing compared to my real identity. What’s funny is, you’re actually trying to kill your own man—now that’s ruthless!" Evan declared, dead serious.
His words were like a fuse to a powder keg, igniting the Pavilion Master’s fury. "You’re courting death!" she screamed, launching herself at Evan Chu.
But as soon as Evan finished speaking, he leapt straight into the river—barely dodging her attack. It was a close call.
Seeing Evan Chu in the water, the Pavilion Master flew above the river and struck at him with her palm. Evan dove quickly to the riverbed. When this woman went berserk, she was scarier than any man—he wouldn’t risk facing her head-on.
"Get out here! I’ll beat you to death, you scoundrel—pervert!" the Pavilion Master shouted furiously at the rushing river.
Evan Chu activated Watershift, slowly merging his body with the river water, and called out, "I’m your man! How could you kill your own man—are you even human? Besides, I left my bloodline in your body. Are you really going to let our child be born fatherless?"
With Watershift, Evan could speak from within the water. Hearing his voice from below, the Pavilion Master was startled, and his words nearly drove her mad. Already furious, she now felt like she’d been doused in gasoline.
Without another word, she unleashed a barrage of attacks on the river’s surface. A Saint Martial expert’s power could split mountains and rivers—water splashed everywhere, and the entire flow was interrupted by her strikes.
Yet Evan Chu was in no danger. His body was like water itself—even if split apart, he could instantly merge back together.
After several minutes of relentless attacks, the Pavilion Master finally stopped. Dead fish littered the surface. "Come out—come out here! Why are you treating me like this?" she cried, sobbing.
And then, she actually burst into tears. If anyone saw the dignified Pavilion Master of Heavenly Fragrance Pavilion showing such a fragile side, they wouldn’t believe their eyes…
