Cherry Miller didn’t say anything.
Ethan Yin added, “You were worried that Miles Gu would get jealous and upset, so you didn’t let him stay in Nora’s house. But you let him move into a house under your name—aren’t you afraid I’ll get jealous and upset? Don’t tell me we’re ‘even’ now. You know full well, we can never be even. Never! So, to make it up to me, shouldn’t you treat me to dinner?”
Cherry Miller was once again struck by Ethan Yin’s shamelessness.
She sighed helplessly and said, “But I still have to go back to Sunset Manor. Without me there, a lot of work will get delayed.”
“So what? If things get delayed, they get delayed.” Ethan Yin said indifferently, “It’s not like it’s anything important. Worst case, let Quentin Sheng cover for you for a bit.”
Cherry Miller was completely exasperated.
What else could she say?
Seeing Ethan Yin so relentless, Cherry Miller didn’t want to argue in the middle of the street and could only agree.
Ethan Yin saw Cherry Miller compromise, and finally showed a satisfied smile.
God knows, when he found out that a young, handsome man had moved into Cherry Miller’s house, he almost lost his cool right then and there.
Thankfully, it was just a misunderstanding.
With Cherry Miller taking care of Derek Tang, Ethan Yin felt like the air was fresher.
“In a few days, I’ll be heading out with Miles Gu. Might be a week-long business trip,” Ethan Yin said, sounding like a husband reporting to his wife. “Keep an eye on the others at Sunset Manor.”
A celebrity used to eat here often, which boosted the restaurant’s fame.
Now that the buzz has died down, fewer people come just for the photos, and more actually come to eat.
They didn’t bother asking for a private room, just picked a spot inside and sat down.
“You’re quick,” Ethan Yin said lazily, eyeing Cherry Miller. “I haven’t even had time to deal with Derek Tang, but you and Nora already took care of him.”
Cherry Miller didn’t stand on ceremony. She glanced at the menu and said, “The house specialty is hot pot. Is that okay?”
“Sure.” Ethan Yin really didn’t care—as long as he was eating with Cherry Miller, the food didn’t matter.
“Alright, could we have two old-style broth pots? (Note: Old-style broth pot is a classic Chinese hot pot, featuring a rich, slow-cooked stock. This is a staple of Chinese cuisine, where diners cook ingredients at the table.)” Cherry Miller quickly ordered the soup base and some dishes, picking out a few refreshing sides to suit Ethan Yin’s taste. “That’s all for now.”
Cherry Miller handed the menu to the server. “Could we get a pot of premium Longjing tea? Quality is key—the price doesn’t matter.”
“Of course.” The server took the menu and left.
“You’re quick,” Ethan Yin said lazily, eyeing Cherry Miller. “I haven’t even had time to deal with Tang De, but you and Xiao Nuo already took care of him.”
Cherry Miller chuckled. “Well, he messed with the wrong person.”
If the Li Residence hadn’t picked a fight, she wouldn’t have bothered with Tang De at all.
That Miss Li from the Li Residence was just too much, so Cherry Miller had to step in.
“But honestly, having Miss Li tied to Derek Tang for life is perfect,” Ethan Yin said approvingly. “Nora handled it beautifully—I’ll have to thank her properly later.”
“She didn’t do it for you,” Cherry Miller shot Ethan Yin a look.
“Doesn’t matter, I’m still happy.” Ethan Yin was genuinely pleased.
He was thrilled when he heard Cherry Miller had put Tang De in his place like a dog.
Even though Tang De wasn’t even close to being a real rival, seeing him constantly pop up was seriously annoying.
He was thrilled when he heard Cherry Miller had put Derek Tang in his place like a dog.
“In a few days, I’ll be heading out with Gu Miao. Might be a week-long business trip,” Ethan Yin said, sounding like a husband reporting to his wife. “Keep an eye on the others at Sunset Manor.”
“I know. It’s part of my job,” Cherry Miller replied, not asking where Ethan Yin was going.
But just because Cherry Miller didn’t ask, did Ethan Yin plan to keep quiet?
Of course not!
So Ethan Yin took the initiative to explain, “Dad asked me to handle a business deal for him, and it happens to need Gu Miao’s connections. Gu Miao said he’d come with me to speed things up. With travel and negotiations, a week should be enough. That Bluebot you brought back—Gu Miao and I reprogrammed it. Now it can do eighty percent of the housework, greet guests, and handle accounts. If you need anything, let Bluebot handle it first. It’s way more accurate than humans. That’ll free up staff to work elsewhere. Plus, Gu Miao set up a new security system for you—no more mistakes.”
Ethan Yin rambled on about his work and the changes at Sunset Manor.
He sounded just like a husband fussing over his wife.
Cherry Miller listened attentively, chiming in every now and then.
Since it was all work-related, Cherry Miller listened even more carefully.
Every so often, they’d chat back and forth, and the vibe couldn’t have been better.
But just when everything seemed perfect, something awkward happened.
Right as they were about to dig in, a voice from the next booth said, “Mr. Qin, we’ve checked—Mason Ming is now close to the Yin family’s eldest daughter and living in their apartment. We can’t get in to look for him.”
Quentin Chin’s voice rang out, “Useless! You can’t even keep track of one person!”
“Mr. Qin, we really did our best! I had someone investigate that apartment—it’s under the name of the Yin family’s chief assistant. We didn’t dare cause trouble!” the person said, sounding aggrieved.
“Enough, I get it. Get lost!” Quentin Chin snapped.
There was some rustling from the next booth as someone got up and left.
Then a woman’s sweet voice piped up, “Mr. Qin, why are you so hung up on that little idol? Sure, he’s cute, but is he really worth all this attention?”

“What do you know?” Quentin Chin’s voice dropped a little, sounding almost indulgent toward the woman. “The prouder they are, the sweeter it is when they finally bow their heads. Especially Mason Ming—”
Quentin Chin stopped halfway through his sentence.
Not only was his date curious, but Cherry Miller was interested too—she wanted to know why Quentin Chin was so fixated on Mason Ming.
There had to be a reason Quentin Chin was watching him so closely!
Ethan Yin saw Cherry Miller craning her neck to eavesdrop and tapped her lightly three times, lowering his voice. “You really want to know?”
Cherry Miller waved him off. “Don’t interrupt, just listen.”
Ethan Yin was a little annoyed.
Finally got rid of Tang De, and now Mason Ming pops up.
He knew Cherry Miller wouldn’t fall for Mason Ming, but he still felt a bit annoyed.
At that moment, Quentin Chin spoke up again from the next booth: “That Mason Ming, he takes after his mother. You’re young, so you probably don’t remember, but over twenty years ago there was a star named Qing Ju. Back then, Qing Ju was a total goddess. She starred in a martial arts film and became a breakout sensation.”
“Mr. Qin, are you saying Mason Ming’s mother is Qing Ju?” the woman asked.
“Oh, stop.” Cherry Miller rolled her eyes at Ethan Yin. “It’s just about doing a good deed. Mason Ming’s got backbone—he takes after his mom. No matter how much Quentin Chin humiliates him, he won’t give in. That’s rare. Nora helped him out for that exact reason.”
“Mr. Qin, were you one of those suitors back then?” the woman asked playfully.
Quentin Chin just snorted, not denying it.
“So since you couldn’t have Qing Ju, you’re after her son now?” the woman pressed.
“Why not?” Quentin Chin shot back. “Back then, I was just a minor shareholder—couldn’t win Qing Ju over. Now I run the whole entertainment industry. I don’t believe her son can slip through my fingers!”
“Of course, Mr. Qin! Anything you set your sights on always ends up obeying you sooner or later!” the woman kept flattering him.
Cherry Miller, eavesdropping, suddenly understood. “So that’s it! What a ridiculous reason!”
She forgot all about eating and pulled out her phone to search for Qing Ju.
Sure enough, Cherry Miller found some old stills of Qing Ju from her younger days—she was stunning, radiant, and elegant.
Mason Ming really did look a lot like his mother.
Ethan Yin saw Cherry Miller so caught up in the gossip that she forgot about the hot pot. He picked up the serving chopsticks and cooked some food for her, placing it in front of her when it was ready.
Cherry Miller didn’t mind. She kept gossiping while eating the food Ethan Yin had made for her, thoroughly enjoying herself.
Seeing Cherry Miller eat the food he’d cooked, Ethan Yin finally smiled.
The people at the next table finished eating and left.
Only then did Cherry Miller snap out of it and realize Ethan Yin had been taking care of her the whole time. She felt embarrassed. “I can do it myself, really.”
“Just keep enjoying your gossip!” Ethan Yin teased. “You’re too busy with the drama to eat!”
Cherry Miller grinned. “This news was just so unexpected, I had to look it up. Too bad I couldn’t find some of her old work—Qing Ju really quit showbiz without a trace! If she’d kept acting, she’d have been a superstar by now.”
“Everyone has their own path,” Ethan Yin said, not commenting further.
“True.” Cherry Miller nodded. “No matter how glamorous the entertainment world is, it’s not as comfortable as a normal life. Qing Ju’s looks were definitely trouble. She probably never imagined that the industry she ran away from would pull her son back in. Now, I bet Quentin Chin won’t let Mason Ming go so easily.”
“What’s wrong? Feeling sorry for him?” Ethan Yin looked at Cherry Miller with a half-smile.
“Oh, stop.” Cherry Miller rolled her eyes at Ethan Yin. “It’s just about doing a good deed. Mason Ming’s got backbone—he takes after his mom. No matter how much Quentin Chin humiliates him, he won’t give in. Nora helped him out for that exact reason.”
