Taking Someone Home

1/4/2026

"Mason, not everyone is as patient as Mr. Quinn. If you miss out on Mr. Quinn, do you really think you can climb up to another wealthy patron?" The person continued to persuade him, "With Mr. Quinn backing you, you can go as high as you want in this circle, as far as you want. Who would dare disrespect Mr. Quinn?"

Mason Ming's expression darkened as he replied, "If Mr. Quinn wants to blacklist me, then go ahead. I told you, I won't do this kind of thing!"

After saying that, Mason Ming turned to leave.

As he turned, he happened to face Yina Yin and Cherry Miller.

The four of them suddenly came face to face.

Yina Yin looked at the two with a playful expression but said nothing.

The person blocking Mason Ming, upon seeing Yina Yin, panicked and stammered, "Miss Yin, what are you doing here?"

Mason Ming's expression was clearly stunned. After a moment, he finally reacted, "You... you're Miss Yin?"

"That's me." Yina Yin nodded lightly. "Am I interrupting something?"

Before Mason Ming could reply, the other person quickly bowed and said, "No, no, not at all. I’m the one interrupting—excuse me!"

With that, he ignored Mason Ming and turned to leave.

Mason Ming let out a bitter laugh and walked up to Yina Yin, saying, "You saved me again."

Yina Yin waved her hand nonchalantly. "It’s nothing, I didn’t really do anything."

Cherry Miller didn’t have a bad impression of Mason Ming, so she reminded him, "If you’re done here, you should leave as soon as possible."

Judging by how persistent that person was, this matter was probably far from over.

"Thank you, Miss." Mason Ming thanked Cherry Miller and hurried off.

Yina Yin said to Cherry Miller, "Mr. Quinn really is like an old house catching fire—once it starts, you can’t put it out!"

"Mr. Quinn’s wife died of breast cancer three years ago. Plenty of beautiful women have tried to get close to him, but he never seemed interested. People used to think he was devoted to his late wife, but now, maybe not. Mason Ming is strikingly handsome—he probably hit Mr. Quinn’s soft spot, which is why he won’t let go. Throughout history, being too good-looking without enough strength to protect yourself is rarely a good thing." Cherry Miller replied.

Yina Yin agreed, "If my brother weren’t the Yin Family heir, I doubt he could protect his own face either."

Cherry Miller laughed and said, "You’re absolutely right."

As the two walked out, they kept discussing the situation.

Just as they reached the parking lot, they saw a group of people pushing and shoving, apparently forcing someone into a car.

Looking closely, wasn’t that Mason Ming, who had just left them?

Poor guy, he really has bad luck!

If gentle persuasion doesn’t work, they resort to force!

This is straight-up robbery!

Yina Yin had always despised bullying, whether it was men or women—she couldn’t stand anyone being mistreated.

Yina Yin frowned and walked toward the crowd. "What’s going on here?"

Mason Ming was almost shoved into the car, but when he heard Yina Yin's voice, he was overjoyed. "Help! They’re trying to kidnap me!"

The group clearly didn’t recognize Yina Yin. Seeing there were only two of them, they started shouting, "I’d advise you to stay out of this! This kid owes us money—we’re just collecting a debt!"

"I didn’t! I don’t owe any money!" Mason Ming shouted, afraid Yina Yin might actually believe their story. "They’re Mr. Quinn’s bodyguards. Because I refused to go with Mr. Quinn, they’re trying to drag me away!"

The group tightened their grip, and Mason Ming, caught off guard, was shoved into the car.

"This is our private business, little girl. You’d better stay out of it!" One of them threatened Yina Yin, "Otherwise, if you get hurt, that won’t be good!"

Yina Yin chuckled, "It’s been a long time since anyone threatened me. I almost missed it!"

With a snap of her fingers to the air, Yina Yin commanded, "Get him back for me!"

The next second, four people suddenly appeared in the empty parking lot and charged at the group without hesitation.

In an instant, they had everything under control.

Mason Ming scrambled out of the car and, as if finding his anchor, stood beside Yina Yin, head lowered, silent.

"Who... who are you?" The restrained men cried out in shock. "Do you even know who we work for?"

"Go back and tell Quentin Chin: the person he wants, I’m taking him. If he wants him back, he can come find me at the Yin Family." Yina Yin smirked.

After that, Yina Yin turned and walked over to Cherry Miller. "Find him a new place to stay," she said.

Cherry Miller glanced at Mason Ming, didn’t ask any questions, and nodded. "Alright."

Yina Yin looked at Mason Ming and said, "Just lay low for a few days."

Mason Ming was so moved he nearly cried. "Thank you both for saving my life!"

Mason Ming was here to perform today, so he was wearing makeup.

Even without makeup, Mason Ming was already very good-looking.

With makeup, Mason Ming looked even more stunning. No wonder Mr. Quinn had his eye on him—he really was striking.

Yina Yin drove straight home, while Cherry Miller took a separate car and left the scene with Mason Ming.

After thinking it over, Cherry Miller took Mason Ming to a high-end apartment on Shunjiang Road.

This apartment wasn’t under Yina Yin’s name, but was actually owned by Cherry Miller.

Cherry Miller didn’t want Gu Miao or Yina Yin to get into any trouble or misunderstandings. Mason Ming was strikingly beautiful, almost like a male fox spirit, though he still couldn’t compare to Gu Miao.

But it’s best to avoid these misunderstandings as much as possible.

As the chief assistant, she would never let her boss be troubled by such matters.

Cherry Miller led Mason Ming into the apartment, handed him the key, and said, "This place is very safe. You can stay here without worry. The housekeeper comes in every morning at eight to clean and restock the fridge with fresh fruits and vegetables. If you need anything else, just tell her and she’ll buy it for you."

"May I ask who you are?" Mason Ming didn’t take the key, instead looking very cautious.

Cherry Miller smiled, "You don’t need to worry about escaping one trap only to fall into another. The person who saved you is Miss Yina Yin, heiress of the Yin Group. She has a fiancé—handsome and powerful—so she’s not interested in you. As for me, I was the chief assistant to the Yin Family, now the housekeeper. I have my own professional standards, and I’m not about to fall for a little celebrity. So, neither of us is going to take advantage of you."

Mason Ming’s face flushed bright red. "That’s not what I meant."

"It’s fine, I don’t mind either way." Cherry Miller handed the key to Mason Ming again. "We’re just doing a good deed. You don’t have to worry about it."

Only then did Mason Ming take the key. "I won’t stay here long. I’ll find a way to leave soon."

"That’s your business." Cherry Miller smiled. "You’re an adult, you have your own thoughts and considerations. You don’t need to explain anything to me. Go ahead and get some rest."

With that, Cherry Miller turned to leave.

But before she reached the door, her phone rang.

It was a call from Ethan Yin. "Aren’t you going to explain what’s been happening these past couple of days?"

Cherry Miller looked helpless.

What was there to explain about this?

She’d always known Ethan Yin wasn’t easy to deal with!

"Where are you now?" Cherry Miller asked.

"Riverdale Avenue," Ethan Yin replied.

"I’ll be right down," Cherry Miller said, hanging up and quickly heading downstairs.

Sure enough, there was a silver-gray Maybach parked across the street.

Cherry Miller paused, then walked over to the Maybach and saw Ethan Yin sitting in the driver’s seat, smiling with hidden meaning.

"Don’t get the wrong idea," Cherry Miller quickly said. "Miss Yina was just doing a good deed."

Her explanation came out so fast it almost sounded guilty.

Ethan Yin’s smile grew even more mysterious. "Did I ask about that? I just wanted to know what you’ve been up to, since you haven’t been at Sunset Manor these days."

Cherry Miller: "..."

She knew this guy was petty.

Cherry Miller had no choice but to recount everything that had happened over the past few days to Ethan Yin. "Miss Yina saved him, but she couldn’t bring him back to Sunset Manor or let him stay in her own property. If we just rented a random place, Quentin Chin would find him sooner or later. Only at my place would Quentin Chin hesitate to make a move. I may have lost my chief assistant title, but the Yin Family still values me, so those people won’t dare mess with me."

"I see." Ethan Yin blinked his charming, almond-shaped eyes. "But that’s not what I wanted to ask you!"

Cherry Miller was so annoyed, she suddenly didn’t want to talk to Ethan Yin anymore.

Cherry Miller turned and walked away.

Seeing things weren’t going well, Ethan Yin quickly got out of the car, hurried after her, and grabbed Cherry Miller’s arm, desperately apologizing: "Okay, okay, I was wrong, I admit I was jealous! I heard you brought a handsome man to stay at your place, and I wasn’t happy about it, so I came to ask! Isn’t it enough that I’m telling the truth?"

Cherry Miller tried to shake off his hand but couldn’t, and said irritably, "So what?"

"So, shouldn’t you compensate me a little?" Ethan Yin grinned roguishly. "Or, do you need me to warn Quentin Chin for you?"

"No need," Cherry Miller replied. "Miss Yina isn’t getting involved, so you don’t need to either. I told you, it’s just a good deed."

Ethan Yin immediately agreed, "Yes, yes, a good deed. Since Yina is doing good deeds, shouldn’t you do one for me too? I haven’t eaten anything since this morning!"
