Extreme North

Evan Chu and Serena Dream, hearing the disciple’s urgent report, rushed toward the Soaring Feather Young Lord’s secret chamber. This situation was something Evan hadn’t expected at all.

Inside the chamber, he saw the Soaring Feather Young Lord coughing up blood, his whole body looking on the verge of collapse, like a lamp running out of oil. The Freewind Palace Lord stood there, face full of fury, glaring at Evan.

“What happened? How did he end up like this?” Evan said helplessly. By rights, the Soaring Feather Young Lord should be lively and energetic right now—even if the gu poison wasn’t cured, he shouldn’t be in this state.

“Evan, this is the result of your so-called treatment! Now Yu’er’s life hangs by a thread—did you do something to him? I know Yu’er has always admired Serena Dream, and you’ve never been happy about it. But you’re marrying her now, what more do you want? Why would you do this?” The Freewind Palace Lord shouted angrily.

“Palace Lord, I... I swear I did nothing to harm him! For his sake I even channeled my wood element into his body. By rights, he should be full of life right now—this outcome is just as unexpected for me!” Evan said immediately.

At this moment he felt utterly wronged, and immediately asked Luna in his heart, “Sister Luna, why did this happen?”

“Evan, this is actually normal and exactly what we anticipated. If you’d just waited quietly for him to recover, maybe it wouldn’t have happened. The child-gu and mother-gu are a shared life—if the child-gu regains vitality, the mother-gu will too.

Now, what do you think the gu-caster will do when he sees the mother-gu recover? Of course he’ll kill the mother-gu, because he knows someone is trying to break his gu poison.” Luna said at that moment.

If the mother-gu dies, the child-gu will die with it. Evan’s heart suddenly filled with real fear—this was a major problem. If the child-gu dies, then the Soaring Feather Young Lord will die too.

“Is there any way to save him now? The Soaring Feather Young Lord can’t die—otherwise Freewind Palace might turn against Frostbane Sect, and Serena Dream would never forgive me!” Evan said urgently.

“It’s not impossible to save him. Because you infused him with wood element, don’t underestimate that power—it’s the most miraculous of all elements under heaven. Even now, with the child-gu dead, that kid won’t die immediately. But after three days, he’ll be doomed for sure.

To save him, you’ll have to immerse him in a freezing cold pool, use the frigid qi to freeze all his essence and qi, then slowly locate the child-gu. Once you find it, cut open his chest and remove it. The process is dangerous, but as long as you keep channeling wood element during the operation, it should be possible.” Luna explained.

Evan was stunned when he heard this, slumping helplessly to the ground as he looked at the Freewind Palace Lord and said, “Palace Lord, this was my own carelessness—I let the gu-caster notice. Once the child-gu revived, the mother-gu did too, so the enemy killed the mother-gu and now the child-gu is dead. The Soaring Feather Young Lord only has three days left to live.”

The Freewind Palace Lord instantly burst into tears, choking out to the Soaring Feather Young Lord, “Yu’er, you can’t die! If anything happens to you, how is your mother supposed to go on living?”

Evan and Serena Dream were both shocked by these words. The Soaring Feather Young Lord is the Freewind Palace Lord’s son? How is that possible? She never married—how could she have a child? Was he born out of wedlock?

“Master, Yu-ge is your son?” Serena Dream couldn’t help but ask.

The Freewind Palace Lord glanced at Evan and Serena and said, “That’s right. Soaring Feather is my son. It’s my greatest secret. Now that you know, you should understand the consequences. If Yu’er dies, there’s no point in me living. Let’s all take this secret to the underworld together!”

With that, the Freewind Palace Lord raised her palm, ready to kill Evan and Serena Dream on the spot. Evan and Serena were both stunned—had she really lost her mind over the Soaring Feather Young Lord? Killing Evan might make sense, but Serena Dream was her own direct disciple. Could she really do it?

Evan immediately stood up and shielded Serena Dream, his expression fierce as he said to the Freewind Palace Lord, “Palace Lord, stop! Soaring Feather isn’t dead yet. If you really want him to die, then come at me—I’ll let you have three moves. Let’s see just how strong you really are.”

The Freewind Palace Lord slowly lowered her raised hand, then grabbed Evan’s clothes and asked, “You said Yu’er can still be saved? Then hurry—save him!”

Evan gently removed her hand and said, “He’s got three days left. If we can find a truly freezing cold pool within that time, he might survive. But I’m not familiar with the Azure Tide Ruins—does the Palace Lord know of any such pool?”

The Freewind Palace Lord was stunned, then immediately replied, “Are you serious? Yu’er is already like this, and you can still save him?” She kept repeating herself, showing her helplessness and the immense hope she now placed in Evan.

“That’s right. But if there’s no such place, I won’t be able to do anything. Palace Lord, please think carefully—ideally, somewhere with Coldflame so icy it can freeze the Soaring Feather Young Lord’s body and keep the gu poison from spreading,” Evan said.

Serena Dream hadn’t expected Evan could still save Soaring Feather at this point. Her respect for him deepened once again—he was even more formidable than her own master.

The Freewind Palace Lord thought for a moment and said, “There are a few places like that in the far north of the Azure Tide Ruins, but they’re all completely deserted. No one can survive in such cold, and my information is very vague.

But even flying from Freewind Palace to the Extreme North would take me three days and three nights at full speed—let alone bringing Yu’er along. It’s just not possible. Even if we got there, there wouldn’t be time to treat him.”

“That far? Do you know the exact location? If you give me the coordinates, I can reach it in half a day at most. That’ll give me enough time to save him,” Evan said.

“Half a day? Evan, are you trying to fool a three-year-old? My speed may not be the fastest in the Azure Tide Ruins, but only three people at most are faster than me. How could you possibly get there in half a day?” The Freewind Palace Lord asked, her anger already subsiding.

“If I say I can do it, I can do it. My speed isn’t something you can compare to. If I were at your Fourth Layer Saint Martial Realm, I’d only need the time it takes to burn one incense stick. Time is short—just tell me the exact location!” Evan urged.

“There’s a snow peak there, very tall, but its summit is strangely bare of snow—you should be able to find it. At the foot of the mountain is a huge cave, and the place you need is inside that cave.

I once entered the cave, but it was so cold I had to turn back halfway. But I did see a cold pool inside, constantly spewing out icy qi,” the Freewind Palace Lord said.
