Evan Chu closed the secret chamber door, slowly picked up the medicines brought by the Freewind Palace Lord, and asked Luna, "Sister Luna, are these soul-restoring medicines to your satisfaction?"
"Very satisfied, extremely satisfied! Freewind Palace truly lives up to its reputation as the top sect in the Azure Tide Ruins. These soul medicines are all high-grade—I can fully restore myself now," Luna replied.
The medicines in Evan's hand instantly vanished—he knew Luna had taken them, but he hadn't even seen how. Her mysterious abilities only made him more curious.
Ethan Fenn was still writhing in pain. Evan knew he wouldn't die right away, so he let him suffer a bit longer—maybe he'd finally learn what comes of fighting Evan for Serena Dream.
If not for Serena Dream, Evan honestly wouldn't bother saving this guy. Luna had explained that to save him, Evan first had to restore the vitality of the child-gu inside him before forcing it out. But Evan still had no idea how to channel Wood-Shift externally.
After a while, Evan still didn't know how to start. He knew Luna was busy restoring her soul power and didn't want to disturb her. Just as he was stuck, Luna's voice sounded in his mind.
"Evan, your Wood-Shift is only at minor completion. To save this annoying guy, you have to force wood element out of your body and into his. That way, both his injuries and the child-gu will recover quickly. But to expel wood element, you need to fully master it—try communicating with the wood element in your body and sense its changes."
Evan felt puzzled. He'd already learned Wood-Shift—so why hadn't he mastered wood element? He wanted to ask Luna, but worried she'd look down on him, so he kept silent.
Glancing at Ethan Fenn, Evan calmed himself and began sensing the elemental changes in his body. Water, fire, and earth elements—he basically had those down, and his divine sense picked them up instantly.
He could sense the metal element, though it was a bit fuzzy, but it didn't take long. The wood element, though, was different from the other four.
Metal, earth, water, and fire elements all had pure elemental molecules spinning around his dantian, but there was no sign of wood element molecules.
Evan remembered that his wood element molecules used to be scattered through his meridians, so he started there. But when he checked carefully, he found only molecules of the other four elements—no wood element at all.
The discovery made him jump—had his repeated injuries completely used up his wood element? But he could still use Wood-Shift to heal himself, so something didn't add up.
He couldn't figure out why he couldn't use Wood-Shift to heal others—maybe it was related to fully mastering the Fivefold Element-Shift. Unable to hold back, Evan asked, "Sister Luna, why has my wood element disappeared?"
"The wood element hasn't disappeared—it's fused into your blood. I just discovered it, and it might be linked to your transformation into a golden dragon. For you, it's a huge advantage—your body is now basically a living medicine cauldron," Luna explained.
"What do you mean? Can my blood be used to heal injuries?" Evan immediately caught on and asked.
"That's right. The wood element in your blood is extremely concentrated—comparable to a seventh-grade pill. You're basically a walking medicine cauldron. But ordinary people can't take your blood—it's dragon blood," Luna said.
The more Luna explained, the more magical it sounded, leaving Evan stunned. He suppressed his curiosity and asked, "So who can actually take my blood?"
"Only cultivators who have reached the Ninth Layer Divine Martial Realm can take it. Ethan Fenn qualifies, but your blood is exactly what the child-gu fears most, so he can't take it directly. You have to inject only the wood element into him," Luna replied.
Evan relaxed when he heard that Ninth Layer Divine Martial experts could take his blood—he thought he could skip sensing the wood element. But Luna's next words hit him like a bucket of cold water.
Evan knew he could only extract wood element molecules from his blood—and it was going to be tough. But he'd promised the Freewind Palace Lord to save Ethan Fenn, so no matter how hard it got, he had to see it through.
By now, Ethan Fenn had fainted from the pain. Evan sent his divine sense into his own blood again, slowly searching for the wood element.
His pale-gold blood kept flowing, and now that he had a goal, Evan easily sensed the wood element—he'd practiced with it before during Wood-Shift, so controlling it wasn't too difficult.
Soon, Evan found he could gather small clusters of wood element molecules. That was halfway there. He slowly guided them toward his palm, then infused them into Ethan Fenn's body.
The whole process was long—Evan spent about three hours injecting wood element into Ethan three times. Luna told him that was enough.
Now all he could do was wait—wait for the wood element to revive the child-gu, then use his dragon blood to force it out.
Evan left Ethan alone in the secret chamber—he wouldn't die for now, and honestly, Evan found him annoying. He'd rather spend time with Serena Dream.
When Evan came out, the Freewind Palace Lord and Serena Dream hurried over. "Evan, how's Ethan? Has the gu poison been removed?" the palace lord asked anxiously.
"Not yet—I need to restore the child-gu's vitality first. If I force it out now, Ethan could die. If the child-gu dies, the host dies too. We just have to wait," Evan explained.
Serena Dream glanced at Evan and asked, "Evan, how confident are you about curing Ethan's gu poison?"
That was also what worried the Freewind Palace Lord most. Evan smiled, "About seventy to eighty percent, I think. Don't worry—I'll do my best. For Serena's sake, I'll give it everything I've got!"
Afterward, Serena Dream took Evan on a tour of Freewind Palace, letting him see its strength again. Evan estimated that Frostbane Sect would need at least ten years to reach this level.
At sunset, a palace disciple rushed over to Evan and Serena. "Miss, Young Lord, the palace lord wants you to hurry—Ethan Fenn seems to be dying!" (Chapter continues at midnight, with a Tuesday burst update. Four chapters tomorrow as usual.)
