The Dark Clouds Have Dispersed
As soon as they arrived at Lord Faustin and Nine Li's residence, Lily discovered that Clarissa Summers had really gone looking for him. She was pointing at his nose and scolding him: "...I never realized you could be so irresponsible! What did Eastern Luo ever do to you, that you'd harm us like this?"
"Mother!" Lily called out. "This has nothing to do with my master!"
"Why are you two still here? Didn't I tell you to get out? Don't ever come back!"
Lily clung to her mother's hand, acting spoiled: "Mother~"
Clarissa tried to shake her off, but couldn't. She was torn between softening and frustration, finally plopping down in a huff to sulk.
Lord Faustin, unfazed by her tirade, smiled and walked over. "Lily's mother, did you know? For a long time now, black clouds have hung over the Eastern Luo Royal Palace."
"So what? Are you just making them even darker?" Clarissa snapped back.
"Lily, open your Heaven's Eye and take a look," Lord Faustin said.
Lily opened her Heaven's Eye and looked up. Her eyes lit up in surprise. "Master! The black clouds are gone!"
Lord Faustin nodded and said, "Marriage alliance."
Lily sent a sound transmission: "Master, you once divined that a marriage alliance with Drake Abyss could resolve the White Clan's disaster. So if I marry Sean, does that count as a Drake Abyss alliance too?"
Lord Faustin gave her a mysterious smile. "What do you think?"
Lily: "..."
"What are you two scheming now? Go ahead and get your stories straight—I won't believe a word of it!" Clarissa grabbed Lily's hand. "Lily! If you still recognize me as your mother, yesterday's wedding doesn't count!"
Lord Faustin said, "Oh, Lily's mother, just a few days ago in Cangwu, the First Prince of Drake Abyss personally clarified that the city massacre wasn't committed by the Demon Emperor at all—it was Young Master Drake, Leo Li, who framed him! So even if Sean is the Demon Emperor, he's no longer the universally condemned villain of the Three Realms!"
Lily nodded vigorously.
"I. Don't. Care!" Clarissa said. "Lily, it's either him or me—you have to choose!"
Lily blinked and touched her belly. "Mother! If I absolutely have to choose, of course I'd pick you. But... what about this?"
Only then did Clarissa remember—Lily was pregnant.
She stood there in a daze for a long moment, then finally slumped and walked away, utterly deflated.
Lily was just about to run after her and coax her, when Lord Faustin's Messenger Charm suddenly lit up. The panicked voice of a Sigil Sect disciple came through: "Master! Something terrible has happened!"
"What happened?" Lord Faustin asked.
"The Drake Abyss Divine Guard has surrounded the Sigil Sect! Please come back quickly!"
"What? Drake Abyss Divine Guard?" Lord Faustin exclaimed. "Are you serious?"
"Master, how could I joke about something like this? They say they want to come in and search. What should we do? Should we let them in?"
"What do they want to search for?"
"I don't know. I asked them, but they won't say."
Lord Faustin frowned. "There are all kinds of formations inside the Sigil Sect. We can't just let anyone in to mess things up. Tell them I said to wait—I’ll be back soon, and we’ll discuss it then."
"Okay..." The disciple's voice was trembling.
"Don't be afraid!" Lord Faustin said. "It'll be fine!"
"Oh..."
...
After hanging up the Messenger Charm, Lord Faustin turned to Lily and Sean. "You both heard that, right? Go find out what's going on."
"Wait here." Sean went out first.
Lily was left full of questions. What on earth was happening?
