Stalling for Time

The old man smiled gently, while Evan Yang said to Lynn Lin before heading to the hot spring, "You stay here and chat with the senior. I'll be back soon."

After speaking, Evan Yang walked toward the hot spring. Lynn Lin wanted to say something, but the old man stopped her, saying, "Young lady, come over here, let's chat."

"Senior," Lynn Lin called out.

"You have a lot of questions?" Seeing Lynn Lin's expression, the old man smiled.

"Mm." Lynn Lin couldn't see through Evan Yang at all today, unsure if that was good or bad, so she replied softly.

"You'll know when you need to know. Don't force it." The old man smiled, then offered Lynn Lin another drink.

Lynn Lin nodded, sipping her drink while watching Evan Yang. She saw him already entering the hot spring, where thick white mist made it impossible to see what was happening inside.

Evan Yang undid his clothes and jumped into the hot spring. A wave of warmth surged up from his feet to his head, making his whole body feel incredibly comfortable.

The Heaven-Cold energy in his body sped up much faster than before, as if something was accelerating it. The poison in his body was being forced out bit by bit. At this rate, Evan Yang estimated he could completely purge the toxins in three days.

Lynn Lin had no idea how long Evan Yang would need. She just wanted to confirm, so she asked, "Senior, is his strength really at Immortal Sovereign level?"

"He didn't tell you?" The old man smiled.

"No," Lynn Lin replied awkwardly.

"If he didn't say, he must have his reasons. Just wait—it might be a few days." The old man said.

Lynn Lin looked a bit disappointed. She'd been with Evan Yang for so long, yet knew nothing about his background. Staring at the misty white fog, her mind wandered.

At that moment, the old man smiled and said, "Some friends have arrived. I'll send you out to greet them. Remember, you must keep them from coming down here. The rest, leave for him to handle himself."

"Who?" Lynn Lin asked, confused.

"You'll know when you go out." The old man smiled.

Just as Lynn Lin was about to ask, she found herself atop a mountain made of ice blocks, riddled with caves. What was once a quiet place was now lively—a group had appeared at the foot of the mountain.

When she saw the group, Lynn Lin was shocked—they were from the Wood Estate, and her own master was among them. At that moment, they were speaking toward the caves.

"Old hag, the Wood Family is here. Hand over Melody Wood!" Young Master Wood shouted.

Just as he finished speaking, a blast of snowstorm swept in, accompanied by a voice: "Presumptuous!"

Seeing the snowstorm, Hamilton Wood was shocked. He rushed forward to block it, exchanged a few blows, and then a woman appeared before them.

This woman had white hair draped over her shoulders. She looked around at everyone and said, "Why have so many from the Wood Estate come to my mountain?"

"No special reason, just want Melody Wood to come out." Hamilton Wood replied.

"Patriarch Wood, what did Melody Wood do that requires so many of you to come?" the white-haired woman asked, frowning.

"Some family matters are related to her. I need her to return and cooperate with us." Hamilton Wood said.

The white-haired woman shook her head. "No, she hasn't come here."

"Impossible! We clearly traced her here," said Young Master Wood.

"Based on what?" the white-haired woman asked.

"You do it," Young Master Wood said to Lynn's Master.
