Chapter 1442
Unfortunately, there wasn't enough time to waste on such things now. After a moment's thought, Leon abandoned his plan to collect undead essence himself. Just then, a level forty-three Skeletal Warrior, riding a bone warhorse, charged up to Leon's feet. Its soul wave pierced through the chaos of the battlefield and transmitted directly into Leon's Soul Fire.
"Which territory are you from?"
Leon casually made up a name.
"I'm from the Wailing Cavern."
The Skeletal Warrior exploded with rage at the mention of that name, unleashing an angry roar.
"Filthy idiot from the Wailing Cavern..."
But before the creature could finish its sentence, Leon suddenly appeared behind it, reached out with his bone claws, and effortlessly twisted off the Skeletal Warrior's head. He stomped down on its mount's skull, snuffing out both Soul Fires at once.
Even decapitated, the Skeletal Warrior's eye sockets still burned with Soul Fire as it glared at Leon, cursing him madly.
"Everyone from the Wailing Cavern deserves to die—die!"
A thought flickered in Leon's mind—now that he was undead, could he devour the Soul Fire of other undead?
No sooner had the thought surfaced than Leon instinctively inhaled toward the Skeletal Warrior's severed head. Like a reflex, a blue flame shot from its eye sockets and fused with Leon's own Soul Fire.
These Soul Fires were like fuel—Leon’s own Soul Fire suddenly blazed up, igniting the Skeletal Warrior’s flame. All impurities burned away, leaving only the purest soul power to merge with Leon’s Soul Fire, and even some scattered marks of Death Laws lingered.
After devouring a Soul Fire, Leon was utterly stunned—more so than when he’d blurted out a fake name only to discover the Undead Plane actually had such a place.
After turning into undead, he could actually consume Soul Fires to strengthen his own soul power.
The Chapter of the Fallen didn’t just disguise him as an undead—it brought other perks. The Soul Fires he devoured would burn, with only a sliver of the purest soul power merging into his own. Yet even that small portion was nearly one percent of Leon’s total soul power.
Normally, boosting soul power by one percent is harder than a mage comprehending a Law.
For most mages, increasing soul power requires first comprehending a Law. Each time they grasp a new Law, their soul power grows just a little.
But the stronger your soul power, the easier it becomes to comprehend Laws, and the faster you progress. Those with powerful souls grasp anything more quickly—no question about it.
What’s most difficult for mages is actually reversed here…
