Perfect Undead Transformation

Chapter 1441

Even the voice and the words I tried to say were all expressed as soul fluctuations—there wasn’t a single trace that didn’t resemble an undead. In fact, the aura of death was far purer than that of ordinary undead. Truly, the most undead of the undead...

And after becoming a skeleton, a forty-sixth rank skeleton at that, the bones were unnaturally strong. Just a slight friction would send sparks flying. In the alchemy lab, the toughest alchemical instruments were easily deformed—those slender, white skeletal fingers gently squeezed, and the alloy steel was kneaded into strange shapes as if it were clay.

A flawless transformation, and what emerged was the most perfect skeletal undead imaginable. Leon even felt that this was exactly how the most perfect skeleton should be.

Staring into the mirror, watching the soul fire burning inside his skull, Leon reached a finger through his eye socket and touched the soul fire. To his surprise, he could actually feel his own soul—this soul fire was simply soul power in another form...

Even Leon himself couldn’t find any flaw that proved he wasn’t undead—not a single defect...

With a thought, he channeled magic into the Death Tome again. The Chapter of the Fallen glowed, and dense death energy filled the air. Soon, Leon stepped out of the mist, back in his original form. His appearance hadn’t changed, but his face was now ashen, with no trace of life remaining. A milky film covered his eyes, making his vision blurry—even his senses had changed.

Everything around him appeared in black and white. Only living beings showed up in vivid red. Here, even auras were visible to the naked eye. Looking out from the alchemy lab, he saw auras become tangible—dozens of kilometers away, the presence of living people appeared like smoke signals drifting into the night sky, as conspicuous as lighthouses in the darkness.

Even after transforming into a zombie, there was no flaw to be found—he was a genuine zombie, whether in the eyes of others or by his own senses.

With another thought, he switched back to a skeleton. Leon summoned Lord Shaun and Anderson. Lord Shaun, still groggy from being summoned, suddenly found himself face-to-face with a skull whose soul fire was burning brightly inside its head and staring right at him.

"Damn it, undead!"

Lord Shaun's fur stood on end in fright. Without thinking, he swung a slap at the skeleton, and the third eye on his brow slowly opened.

Leon extended his bony claw and grabbed Lord Shaun by the neck, lifting him up.

All three of Anderson's faces wore an expression of horror. Silently, he summoned the Arcane Wheel, each face watching Leon with wary eyes.

The left face bared its teeth, looking vicious and threatening.

"Idiot, let go of that guy, or you'll die a horrible death! No, dying would be too easy!"

The right face muttered quietly to itself, while the middle face looked dead serious.

"Damn it, what the hell is Merlin up to now? How could there be an undead here? Did he fail to kill that undead earlier and just drag it here?"

Leon's jaw clicked open and shut. Before Lord Shaun and Anderson could strike back, his soul fluctuations spread out.

"Shaun, Anderson, well? Can either of you tell it's me?"

Leon's voice echoed in Shaun and Anderson's minds, leaving both of them looking as if they'd seen a ghost.

Lord Shaun pulled a long face and wailed at the top of his lungs.

"Oh hell, you bastard! How did you turn into an undead, and a damned skeleton at that? We're doomed, doomed..."

Anderson's three faces all wore matching looks of misery.

"Merlin, how could you become an undead? There's no future in being undead, damn it! How could you just die like this..."

Seeing that even Shaun and Anderson couldn't tell, Leon couldn't help but laugh. If even his closest companions couldn't spot that he was a fake undead, he could finally relax.

Just then, the door to the alchemy lab was quietly pushed open. Mariana slipped in, looking nervous and sneaky, like a thief. She carefully closed the door behind her, only to turn around and find a skeleton holding Lord Shaun standing right behind her.

Mariana's face went pale. She puffed up her cheeks, ready to unleash a burst of divine power, but the skeleton Leon had become grabbed her and gave her a casual shake. Mariana instantly went limp, and the power she was about to release just faded away as a wisp of smoke.

"You bastard, damned undead, filthy skeleton—let me go! Listen, I'm a friend of your Undead Lord, a close friend, got it? Let me go or you're dead meat...

You'll be tossed into the Well of Holy Light and burned alive, I swear—let me go!"

Seeing Mariana, Anderson grinned and hid in the shadow atop his head, while Lord Shaun settled down and watched the show.

Leon tucked Lord Shaun under his arm—well, between his arm and ribs—and with his free hand, gave Mariana a few quick smacks on the butt. After that, Mariana finally quieted down and stopped claiming to be the Undead Lord's friend...

After a few smacks, Mariana started making faces at Lord Shaun, then went right back to bragging.

"Let me go—I'm a friend of the boss here! Listen, Uncle Merlin is terrifying. Don't let the fact that you're undead fool you; if Uncle Merlin wants to eat you, not even a bone fragment will be left. Let me go and I'll tell you how to escape before Uncle Merlin turns you into skeleton soup..."

After Mariana finished, Lord Shaun covered his eyes, unable to watch any longer. Leon's jaw clicked open and shut, sending out a ripple of soul energy.

"Mariana, looks like you’re still as bold as ever. And since when did I like making skeleton soup?"

A gray mist enveloped the skeleton Leon had become. When the mist cleared, Leon grinned at the dumbstruck Mariana.

"Hmm, Mariana can’t tell either. Perfect—no one will ever figure out I’m an undead. Mariana, you’d better stay put in here for now.

If you don’t want another spanking, don’t sneak into my alchemy lab again. And seriously, don’t go climbing Mount Sky Pillar for fun—it’s dangerous, people die up there…"
