Only Wanting to See Her Smile
At that moment, the Peacock Spirit was dressed in a stunning dance costume, leading the other dancers in a performance.
The dance was incredibly seductive, wild and uninhibited, and she kept throwing flirtatious glances at Damian Black.
Normally, the dances Lily Bai had seen were either ethereal or gracefully restrained—she’d never witnessed anything this sultry before.
Honestly, it was pretty thrilling.
Lily Bai turned to glance at Damian Black.
What was the Peacock Spirit to him?
Was this his type?
Damian Black sensed Lily Bai looking at him, so he turned his head to look back at her.
He didn’t say anything, just lifted his chin slightly and stared at her.
“Why are you looking at me?” Lily Bai asked.
Damian Black: "I'm just thinking... about how you should die tomorrow."
"Can I not die?"
"Nope."
Lily Bai: "..."
She didn't feel like talking to Damian Black anymore, so she turned her attention back to the dance.
But for some reason, the Peacock Spirit's expression looked a bit strained, and her dance lost some of its sultriness.
After the Peacock Spirit finished her act, the Marching Wing Guard arrived.
Their formation was impressively neat, each one wielding a serrated sword as they performed a group sword routine.
Their performance was ridiculously precise.
Lily Bai had never seen such perfectly synchronized movements in her entire life.
Then, two Marching Wing Guards with three golden rings around their necks stepped forward. Apparently, they were having a mock duel and soon ended up in a tangled mess.
Their tails kept secreting silk, each trying to bind the other.
Eventually, the two got so wrapped up they turned into a ball and crashed to the ground.
Their four big eyes spun around dizzily.
Lily Bai couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
Azure Flame glanced at her and said, "Those two are the Flying General and Wing General. The silk from their tails is natural Immortal Binding Rope."
"Hahaha! They’re just too cute!" Lily Bai laughed heartily.
Damian Black watched, his gaze unconsciously softening as the firelight illuminated Lily Bai’s radiant smile.
"Your Highness." At that moment, Azure Flame sent him a sound transmission.
Damian Black looked at her.
"Are you really taking her away tomorrow?"
Damian Black: "Mm."
"Why not keep her here?"
"How would I keep her?" Damian Black asked coolly.
"Any way you can! Just keep her by your side!" Azure Flame said. "You ended up hunted by the Three Realms because of her! Now, you should at least keep her with you—otherwise, what's the point of all this?"
Damian Black shook his head. "You don't understand."
"Of course I don't! Can you at least help me understand?"
"If she stays, she'll become enemies with her master, her friends—and her parents and loved ones might even get dragged into disaster."
Azure Flame froze. "But... what about you?"
Damian Black took a sip of wine, smiled faintly, and said, "If one day you put someone in your heart, you'll only wish to see her smile."
Azure Flame looked at Lily Bai's dazzling smile, so bright it made the firelight seem dim, and shook her head.
...
Lily Bai thought the wine of the Primeval Demon Wilds was especially rich and mellow tonight.
And the spiritual fruits and delicacies laid out before her were all things she'd never tasted before.
Listening to the unique music, sipping fragrant wine, and watching the thrilling, energetic dances, Lily Bai actually forgot she was a prisoner—and started to genuinely enjoy herself.
Just then, the Peacock Spirit suddenly announced, "Today, a new guest has arrived at the Demon Emperor's Palace! Why not invite her to perform for His Majesty as well?"
Lily Bai looked up and realized everyone was staring straight at her.
