I Want to Take You Home

Why are you looking at her?

"Don't doubt it, I'm talking about you!" The Peacock Spirit shot her a provocative look.

"Me? You want me to perform?" Lily Bai pointed at herself, surprised.

"That's right!" said the Peacock Spirit.

"Heh, fine!" Lily Bai stood up, but swayed a little.

She finally managed to steady herself, wobbling as she stepped out of line and stood in the center.

Cheers and whistles erupted around her—everyone was excited.

She could vaguely hear people saying things like, "She's so pretty."

Lily Bai smiled slightly and said, "I'm pretty good at music, so let me offer a song to His Majesty the Demon Emperor. How about it?"

Everyone agreed enthusiastically, and the applause was thunderous.

Lily Bai whipped out her Entwined Heart flute and started to play.

She'd only played four or five notes before the whole place erupted in screams.

The Peacock Spirit screamed the loudest—Lily Bai's attention was locked on her, and she coughed up blood on the spot.

Suddenly, Lily Bai's wrist was grabbed, her vision spun, and she was yanked straight into a room.

Her Entwined Heart flute was confiscated.

Her immortal power was sealed again.

"Huh? I wasn't done performing! Give me back my flute!" Lily Bai lunged for it, but stumbled right into Damian Black's arms.

She really must've drunk too much... Why couldn't she stand up straight?

"Lily Bai, can you behave for just a moment?" Damian Black asked, exasperated.

"What kind of question is that? I've been so well-behaved today! You told me to remove talismans, I did it. You asked me to perform, I performed. And you're still complaining?" Lily Bai looked up at him.

Her big eyes were brimming with grievance.

Damian Black nudged her away. "You're drunk."

"Exactly! The wine here is way too good! I just got a little tipsy." Lily Bai said. "But don't worry, this immortal doesn't get rowdy when drunk—I'll sleep it off! So, where am I supposed to sleep?"

"Sleep on the floor!" Damian Black snapped. "You're a prisoner—where else would you sleep?"

"The floor?" Lily Bai eyed the hard ground, pouted, then darted to the bed and sprawled out, taking up the whole thing. "No way! I'm sleeping on the bed! Not the floor!"

Damian Black looked at her, utterly helpless.

"Damian!" Lily Bai called out.

Damian Black turned to look at her.

"Your subordinates are so weak!" Lily Bai said. "I feel like I could take them all down by myself!"

Damian Black didn't say a word.

"You only have Baxa and Azure Flame holding things together." Lily Bai continued. "But Drake Abyss, Southern Realm, and Lumina Realm—the Three Divine Realms—are packed with divine soldiers, endless weapons! Even the mortal world is full of sects and noble families, each with their own strengths."

"That tribulation barrier... It's not unbreakable! Sooner or later... it'll fall! And you... you'll lose eventually..."

Damian Black looked at her, silent.

"Damian, why do you insist on fighting the Divine Realm alone?"

"Damian... have you ever regretted it?"

Lily Bai mumbled to herself, but the wine finally won—her head lolled to the side, and she passed out.

"Her alcohol tolerance is nothing like it used to be," Damian Black muttered, shaking his head. He walked over, took off her shoes, and tucked her in.

He watched her for a while, then gently brushed Lily Bai's bangs aside and whispered, "I don't regret it."

Suddenly, Lily Bai grabbed his hand.

Damian Black froze.

"You're so good-looking! I want to take you home and keep you as a spirit pet..."

Damian Black: "..."

...

When Lily Bai woke up, she saw drifting white clouds.

She scrambled up and realized—she was riding on Azure Flame's back again.
