After entering the dark undercurrent, Evan Frost quickly arrived at the location of his two Golden Bodies. Leaving those avatars behind earlier had been the right call—otherwise, trying to find the undercurrent again would have taken who knows how long.
After retrieving his Golden Bodies, Evan Frost glanced at the Darkfruit and the God-Drunk Herb. Now that the Dark Abyssal Kraken had been slain, all that was left was to wait for the Darkfruit to ripen. Just looking at that Darkfruit, Evan felt his Darkshift might break through to the second layer—or even touch the edge of the third.
But it wasn’t time to pick the Darkfruit yet—Evan Frost could only wait patiently. The fight with the Dark Abyssal Kraken had burned through a massive amount of Chaotic Immortal Power; his whole arm was still sore and weak. Right now was the perfect moment to recover his strength.
He took out a Jadeheart Lotus seed and swallowed it, then brought out an Immortal Crystal to begin absorbing its energy. There was no water near the Darkfruit—like a natural barrier kept the lakewater away. Evan Frost was used to weird phenomena like this by now.
Time slipped by, and three days passed in a flash. Evan Frost’s Chaotic Immortal Power was fully restored, but the amount he’d burned through was kind of terrifying. The higher his cultivation, the stronger his Chaotic Immortal Power became—and the more Immortal Stones he needed. It was starting to feel like an endless uphill battle.
"Master, the Darkfruit should be ripe now. I can sense a faint fragrance from it—it’s time to harvest." The Emerald Immortal Empress spoke to Evan Frost at that moment.
"You can smell the Darkfruit’s scent? Aren’t you just a soul body? Isn’t that a bit much?" Evan Frost stared in shock—the Emerald Immortal Empress’s words were a little too wild.
"I can’t smell it, but I can sense it. My divine sense is much stronger than yours, Master—that’s not surprising. Still, I think you should harvest the God-Drunk Herb first. It’s a rare treasure; if it suddenly disappears or withers, we’ll be in trouble," said the Emerald Immortal Empress.
Evan Frost didn’t say much more—he knew just how important the God-Drunk Herb was to the Emerald Immortal Empress. He smiled and said, "Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you get what you want. I’ll go take care of the God-Drunk Herb right now."
After taking one last look at the God-Drunk Herb in front of him, Evan Frost immediately summoned the Frostbane Divine Sword. Gripping the herb’s stalk with one hand and digging with the sword in the other, he didn’t dare just yank the God-Drunk Herb straight out of the lakebed—if the stem snapped, it’d be a disaster.
The soil where the God-Drunk Herb grew was anything but ordinary—it was incredibly tough. Even with the Frostbane Divine Sword, a true divine weapon, and Evan Frost’s immense strength, it still took him nearly half an hour to dig the herb out.
The moment he finished, Evan Frost put the God-Drunk Herb into his storage ring. Right then, the Darkfruit started dropping toward the ground on its own. Evan knew that if the Darkfruit hit the ground, it would vanish—who knows when he’d ever get another chance at one.
But just as one fruit was about to hit the ground, Evan Frost managed to catch it and stow it in his storage ring. The other two Darkfruit quickly followed, and he pocketed them as well. As soon as he had all three, the Darkfruit Tree began to wither at a speed visible to the naked eye.
In just a few breaths, the tree turned into a cloud of black mist and vanished. Suddenly, a sheer rock wall appeared in front of Evan Frost—not the undercurrent anymore. This was even stranger than before. Was it an illusion? Or some kind of real, dangerous mirage?
Thinking about illusions, Evan Frost suddenly remembered the two kids, Lena Chu and Tong Chu. They’d both grown a lot lately—he wondered how they were doing. When he had the chance, he’d have to take them out for some fresh air.
After glancing at the rock wall in front of him, Evan Frost realized it might be an entrance to the Netherworld. If he destroyed it, he could probably pass through—he could clearly sense faint traces of Nether qi leaking out from the wall.
Evan Frost knew exactly how precious a Netherworld entrance was—it was the key to one day bringing Princess Ivy out of the Netherworld. But now wasn’t the time. Still, finding the entrance directly was nearly impossible, which left him a bit stuck.
After thinking it over, he decided to leave a Golden Body here. No matter how the entrance shifted, Evan Frost would always know where his avatar was. For now, it was the only method that worked.
After leaving his Earth Golden Body behind, Evan Frost prepared to leave. He took a few steps and, just like that, the scene changed again—he was back in the dark undercurrent, and the place where the God-Drunk Herb and Darkfruit had grown was gone, completely submerged by lakewater.
If he hadn’t left a Golden Body behind, Evan Frost probably never would’ve found the Netherworld entrance again. Truly a bizarre and mind-bending phenomenon.
With a single thought, Evan Frost surfaced from the lake. Goldwing and the Golden Dragon King immediately came up to greet him. "Boss, how’d it go?"
"I got the soul medicine. There’s nothing left here worth sticking around for—it’s time to head back." Evan Frost replied. He wasn’t planning to tell them about the Netherworld entrance yet—not because he was being petty, but because there was no need.
Goldwing shifted into his true form and soared into the sky. Evan Frost and the Golden Dragon King climbed onto his back, and three days later they arrived back at the Dragon Clan’s territory. On the way, they passed the Golden-Winged Roc Clan, but Goldwing didn’t stop.
He wasn’t close with them anyway, and Evan Frost had urgent business at Frostbane Imperial Palace—there was no reason to linger. When they got back to the Dragon Clan, the Phoenix Clan had already left. Evan didn’t ask about it. If Roxanne Lin were here, she might’ve asked about Nirvana, but now there was no point.
But asking now was pointless. After half a day with the Dragon Clan, Evan Frost told everyone he’d be heading back to Frostbane Imperial Palace. No one tried to stop him—they all knew his situation. Everyone just hoped that one day he could lead them out of Godfall Valley.
After leaving the Dragon Clan, Evan Frost flew straight toward Frostbane Imperial Palace. He didn’t stop at the Phoenix Clan or the Golden-Winged Roc Clan. He did, however, take a quick look at Skyflight Terrace—the legendary place where Immortal Emperors ascended to the God Realm.
But Evan Frost only glanced at Skyflight Terrace for a moment. He wasn’t interested in ascending yet—the Immortal-Beast War was looming, and the ancient Primordial Fiend and Crimson Demon Star were both lurking in the background. He had to be prepared for anything.
After a while, Evan Frost arrived at Frostbane Imperial Palace. The moment he landed, the palace’s top experts rushed out to greet him. "Palace Lord, you’re finally back!"
Evan Frost nodded. "How’s everything been lately? Has anyone caused trouble?"
"Palace Lord, everything’s been peaceful. No one’s dared to make trouble. The Dragon Clan, Phoenix Clan, and Golden-Winged Roc Clan have all sent envoys to express their goodwill."
