Rona Muir shoved Sean Kerr aside and turned to leave.
Sean Kerr quickly walked after her, trying to catch up.
At that moment, Sylvia Ran suddenly blocked Sean Kerr's path.
"Sean, why are you hung up on a woman who doesn't even know what's good for her?" Sylvia Ran said, acting like it was the most obvious thing ever. "You're a total catch, and your family's amazing! Who is she to be so picky about you?"
"Enough, Sylvia, don't talk like that. Rona isn't the kind of person who cares about money. If she were, she wouldn't have kept herself so clean all these years." Sean Kerr patted Sylvia Ran's shoulder. "We'll talk about your issues later. I need to go clear things up first."
With that, Sean Kerr brushed past Sylvia Ran and chased after Rona Muir, utterly ignoring the girls who were singing.
Sylvia Ran stood there, stomping her foot in anger. "Why is it like this! When we were kids, you and Charles were always around me! How can everything change just because I left for six years? Charles doesn't love me anymore, and now even you ignore me! Sean, how can you treat me like this? Didn't you both promise to be good to me forever?"
Sylvia Ran's gaze followed Rona Muir's back, a cold smile curling on her lips. "I was gonna deal with you, but you picked Cecilia Gu's side. Don't blame me if I play rough! Whether it's Charles or Sean, I'm the only one they should spoil!"
After a busy day, things finally settled down.
Tonight's dinner was hosted by the Miao chieftain.
So, everyone brought gifts and headed early to the Miao chieftain's home.
Rona Muir was totally baffled—this was just nuts!
As soon as Cecilia Gu walked in, she saw several young girls in Miao dresses greeting her with cheerful smiles.
"Honored guest, come in and have a bowl of wine! The wine stands for my heart, my feelings—will you take it?" The cheerful girls sang as they handed Cecilia a bowl of Miao wine.
Charles frowned slightly—Cecilia was pregnant and couldn't drink.
But Cecilia just smiled and took the Miao wine, sipping lightly to show respect.
The cheerful girls were over the moon, bowing to Cecilia and singing, "A bowl of wine for the guest, may you stay awhile. Through mountains and rivers, we welcome you—true feelings and good wine in our hearts. Honored guests, please come inside..."
Cecilia nodded with a smile and walked in slowly with Charles.
"I know," Sylvia Ran said, biting her lip and looking innocent. "I just needed to get it off my chest. After all, Sean would even trick Charles away from Cecilia just for me. Of course I know, in Sean's heart, I'm more important than any other woman."
Rona Muir, because of Sean Kerr, picked up the Miao wine offered by the girls and drank it in one go, making the Miao girls even more enthusiastic.
Mo Zixuan, walking behind, had become much more reserved, but just like Cecilia, she took a sip of the Miao wine to show respect.
Sylvia Ran lowered her head and continued, "Vice President Muir, please don't get the wrong idea. We're just childhood friends. My true love is Charles. Honestly, I'd be happy to see you and Sean together... Even if I'm the most important woman to him, my heart already belongs to Charles!"
It's just that tonight, the main event is all about the ladies!
The men have to drink too, but not here.
Sylvia Ran, trailing at the back, saw the Miao wine being offered by the girls, and her gaze lingered on the girls in their ethnic dresses.
She looked them up and down for a while. Once she was sure these girls weren't as pretty as her, she arrogantly lifted her chin and walked right in, completely ignoring the singing girls.
These greeter girls were the prettiest and smartest in the tribe, always the targets of the village boys' affection.
But now, Sylvia Ran had just embarrassed them, and their faces turned sour.
The girls' impression of Sylvia Ran instantly dropped.
Miss Gu is pregnant, but even to show respect to the hosts, she still took a small sip.
Whether you drink a lot or a little, it's all about manners.
No one knew who this arrogant woman was—dressed so fancy, but her attitude was terrible.
Everyone sat down, host and guests taking their places.
Cecilia Gu was the guest of honor tonight, so of course she got the best seat.
Charles and Mo Zixin sat next to Cecilia—one out of respect, the other to help take care of her.
Rona Muir and Mo Zixuan took the seats next.
Sean Kerr wanted to sit with Rona Muir, but Sylvia Ran darted over and slipped right into the seat next to Rona, instantly putting herself between Rona and Sean.
After sitting down, Sylvia Ran put on a clueless expression and said, "Oops, did I sit in the wrong spot?"
Sean Kerr smiled. He was a bit disappointed he couldn't sit next to Rona, but as long as there wasn't another man beside her, he was fine.
"It's fine. Sitting here is just the same," Sean Kerr replied with a smile.
Rona Muir glanced at Sylvia Ran and Sean Kerr, her eyes flickering with a complicated look.
She just looked at them, then turned to talk to Mo Zixuan.
Given the choice, Rona would rather talk to Mo Zixuan than Sylvia Ran.
Mo Zixuan was always competing with Rona Muir, but at least their rivalry was out in the open—not like Sylvia Ran, who played dirty.
Mo Zixuan was sharp enough to notice the tense atmosphere, so she quietly went along and chatted with Rona.
Mr. Yun sighed, "The Miao New Year is coming, right? I used to join your celebrations, but I probably can't make it this year! Soon we'll have to stay at the pharmacy. Cici's baby is getting bigger, and to be safe, we need to hurry and plant medicinal herbs—just in case."
The village chief replied with a smile, "Miss Yun is about to give birth, that's a big deal—of course you can't delay it."
Mrs. Yun saw Cecilia Gu, smiled and nodded, and motioned for everyone to sit without standing on ceremony.
Once everyone was seated, the Miao chieftain joined in, and the whole room buzzed with lively conversation and drinks.
Because Cecilia Gu was pregnant, she felt more tired than usual and soon needed to use the restroom.

As Cecilia left the table, several pairs of eyes followed her.
Rona Muir couldn't stand Sean Kerr's gaze through Sylvia Ran, so she got up too, planning to accompany Cecilia to the restroom.
As soon as Rona stood up, before Sean could react, Sylvia Ran immediately said, "What a coincidence, I need to use the restroom too. It's my first time here, so I don't know the way—Vice President Muir, mind if I join you?"
Mo Zixuan glanced sideways at Rona Muir, then at Sylvia Ran, and finally met Mo Zixin's gaze.
Seeing Mo Zixin nod at her, Mo Zixuan smiled and said, "I'll join too. I drank a bit too much water today."
So, the four ladies among the honored guests all left the table together.
Cecilia hadn't expected all of them to tag along.
Mo Zixuan quickly walked up to Cecilia and whispered, "Looks like Miss Ran has something to say to Vice President Muir. Want to hear what they're talking about?"
Cecilia was startled, then laughed. "So why did you come along?"
"I'm worried you'll get hurt," Mo Zixuan sighed. "You're heavy with pregnancy—if someone pushes you, you might fall. How could you fight back?"
Cecilia burst out laughing. "Even with you, I don't think our fighting power is much better!"
Mo Zixuan laughed too. "Alright, I admit I'm just curious. Don't you really want to know what they're going to say?"
Cecilia was about to shake her head, but then thought, maybe it's worth listening in.
Why did Sylvia Ran suddenly leave Charles and go after Rona Muir?
Sure enough, Rona and Sylvia hadn't walked far before they stopped.
"Alright, you followed me out—what do you want? I don't have time for your games," Rona Muir said bluntly to Sylvia Ran. "You know I don't like you, so I'm not going to pretend."
Sylvia Ran looked surprised Rona would be so direct. Her eyes reddened and she almost started crying.
"Vice President Muir, what's wrong? Why would you say that? Is it because Miss Gu doesn't like me, so she told you bad things and made you misunderstand me?" Sylvia Ran looked utterly miserable, making the bystanders roll their eyes.
"I like Charles, and Sean Kerr is like a brother to me. Vice President Muir, I hope you don't misunderstand our relationship. I really do care about Charles, but I wouldn't do anything too extreme. Also, have you misunderstood my relationship with Sean? He's always spoiled me and gone along with everything I say, but that's just because we grew up together. When we were kids, Sean promised he'd protect me forever. So please, don't be mad at Sean, okay?" Sylvia Ran looked at Rona Muir with teary eyes.
Rona Muir was honestly... this was just nuts!
What kind of logic does Sylvia Ran even have?
She stood there, eyes brimming with tears, talking about her bond with Sean Kerr—what was that supposed to mean?
Was she warning Rona not to get close to Sean?
Or was she bragging that, deep down, she's more important to Sean than anyone else?
Or was she saying that when push comes to shove, Sean would help her and not Rona?
"Miss Ran, what's the point of telling me all this? Sean is just my boss, my supervisor, my coworker—nothing more." Rona Muir replied coldly. "Whatever you and Sean have, that's your business. It has nothing to do with me."
"I know," Sylvia Ran said, biting her lip and looking innocent. "I just needed someone to talk to. After all, Sean would even trick Charles away from Cecilia just for me. Of course I know, in Sean's heart, I'm more important than any other woman."
What?
Rona Muir and Cecilia Gu's faces both changed slightly at the same time.
Sylvia Ran lowered her head and continued, "Vice President Muir, please don't get the wrong idea. We're just childhood friends. My true love is Charles. Honestly, I'd be happy to see you and Sean together... Even if I'm the most important person to him, my heart already belongs to Charles!"
