Who Can Blame General Evan Xiao for Being So Busy

Grace fumbled for a while, but only managed to pull out a handkerchief.

Then she reached out and gently wiped the sweat off Evan Xiao’s forehead, asking softly, "You’re sweating so much—did you just finish sword practice?"

"Mm." Evan Xiao lowered his head to look at her, the light in his eyes seemed to set everything ablaze. The corners of his mouth gradually curved, forming a barely-there dimple, full of delight.

Originally, Grace did this just to reclaim her place and assert her claim.

She was really mad inside!

Damn it, Bianca Whiteshire actually wiped Evan Xiao’s sweat?

She seriously wanted to chop off her hand!

Then she wanted to wrap Evan Xiao up in a black cloth, give him a good beating, and hide him away.

But the moment she met his eyes, the happiness in them was so contagious it made her feel inexplicably happy too.

"Just got back?" Evan Xiao naturally took the handkerchief from Grace’s hand, wiped his neck, and then tucked it into his own chest.

Grace smiled, "Mm."

"Are you tired?"

Grace nodded, her tone a bit soft and coy: "I've been traveling for days. Pretty exhausted."

"You look all dusty and worn out. Go in and wash up, change your clothes first," Evan Xiao said. "I need to discuss something with Shannon and Leon Zane."

"Alright." Grace went in and asked Lily to draw her a hot bath. She washed up comfortably.

She had fresh clothes ready in her storage space, so she changed into a new outfit and instantly felt refreshed, all the dust and fatigue gone.

When she returned to the main house, they still hadn’t come in—probably still outside talking.

But Bianca Whiteshire was standing right outside the main room, as if she’d been waiting for her.

Seeing Grace fresh from her bath, looking like a lotus just out of water, Bianca’s eyes flashed coldly with a murderous intent. She gave her a slight smile: "Miss Zhu, what a coincidence—here we meet again so soon."

"Heh... Yeah," Grace replied.

"Outside Yan Capital, my maid was a bit out of line. Please don’t take it to heart," Bianca Whiteshire added.

"I should be the one saying that. We’d been traveling for days, so my temper was a bit short. Please don’t hold it against me," Grace replied.

Bianca Whiteshire smiled, "How old are you this year?"

"I’m sixteen."

"Then I should call you my little sister," Bianca said.

"And you?"

"I’m twenty-five this year."

That age surprised Grace a bit: "Twenty-five... You must be married by now, right?"

"Not yet. Where I’m from, women usually marry much later."

"Oh... Around here, by twenty-five, most people already have a bunch of kids!"

Bianca Whiteshire smiled faintly, "Who can blame the General for being so busy?"

Grace: "Huh?"

What does that have to do with the General?

"You probably don’t know yet, do you?" Bianca said with a smile. "The General and I have known each other since we were little. Our families’ elders have already arranged it—I’m supposed to marry him!"

Grace blinked at her, saying nothing.

"From now on, the two of us will serve the General together," Bianca continued. "We have to get along and be good sisters, don’t you think?"

...

Outside, Evan Xiao asked Shannon, "So? Did you find a way?"

Shannon frowned, "I found a spell array carved in stone by my master. It might be able to restore her memory. But..."

Evan Xiao and Leon Zane both looked at her, "What’s the problem?"

"That array would drain all her spiritual energy. If that happens, she’ll die instantly from the poison."

Evan Xiao frowned.
