Can We Sleep Together

1/4/2026

Cherry Miller slammed the bedroom door shut.

Keep dreaming!

Cherry lay in her warm, comfortable bed, but she kept tossing and turning, unable to sleep.

She really felt bad for Ethan Yin, such a tall guy, squeezed onto a sofa barely six feet long.

Could he really sleep comfortably?

Wasn't he uncomfortable?

After tossing and turning for an hour, Cherry suddenly sat up, threw off the covers, and tiptoed out to the living room.

She saw Ethan Yin curled up on the sofa, looking so uncomfortable, so awkward no matter how she looked at him.

Cherry started to feel guilty.

Cherry started to feel sorry for him.

In the end, she just couldn't harden her heart.

Cherry softly said, "Why don't you come lie down on the bed for a while?"

"No need." Ethan Yin pressed a pillow over his head and awkwardly turned over. "You go ahead and sleep!"

"I..." Cherry felt even more guilty. She opened her mouth and finally said, "Or, how about we just stay up tonight and talk? We can always catch up on sleep in the car tomorrow."

Ethan Yin instantly sat up, looking at Cherry with an awkward expression. "You want to talk to me?"

"Yeah." Cherry's cheeks flushed red in an instant.

She knew it wasn't the right thing to do, but she just couldn't help herself.

How could anyone stay indifferent to someone they once loved?

"Okay." Ethan Yin jumped up, grabbed his pillow and blanket, and walked into the bedroom, ready to talk all night.

But as soon as Ethan Yin walked into the room, Cherry started to regret it a little.

Was what she was doing right or wrong?

But Ethan Yin didn’t give her a chance to regret it. He quickly rolled up their comforters into two separate bundles.

One for each of them, perfectly separated.

It really did seem like they were just going to chat, nothing more.

"Come on up." Ethan Yin hid his smug smile and pretended not to notice anything, saying to Cherry, "Aren’t you the one who wanted to talk? I’m here!"

Cherry gritted her teeth.

Only now did she snap out of it.

She’d been tricked!

Ethan Yin had been pretending to be uncomfortable just to make her say something like that!

This guy was never one to put himself out for others!

He could've just asked the hotel for an extra bed!

Argh!

She’d been played!

She got all flustered because she cared too much!

She'd totally forgotten how scheming Ethan Yin could be!

But now it was too late to say anything!

She only had herself to blame for being so impatient and suggesting they sit and talk together.

Cherry huffed back to her spot, crawled into her own comforter, leaned against the big bed, and didn’t know what to say.

"Weren’t you the one who wanted to chat?" Ethan Yin kept up his act, making Cherry’s teeth itch with annoyance.

Luckily, Cherry wasn’t the type to run out of things to say. She could pick any topic and keep the conversation going.

So Cherry asked Ethan Yin if staying at Sunset Manor for so long would affect the company's business.

"It won't affect anything." Ethan Yin chuckled and said, "Kuisheng is very capable. Besides, the company employs so many people—not just for show! Unless it’s a major decision, everything else is handled by the branch and subsidiary managers. At the end of the year, those with good results get promoted, those with poor results either take a pay cut or resign. The Yin Family never keeps freeloaders. Plus, with my dad overseeing everything, nobody dares slack off. By the way, I heard you want to expand Sunset Manor even further?"

Cherry nodded and said, "That's right. After this banquet, I realized the main house still isn’t big enough. A lot of entertainment activities can’t be held. Even though Sunset Manor was originally meant for planting crops, I’ve researched more scientific and efficient ways to grow them. It’ll save land and boost yields. So I want to build a few high-efficiency greenhouses on the mountain for scientific cultivation. That way, we’ll free up plenty of land for other things. Everyone seems to love Sunset Manor—the climate and soil are great—so I want to make it even better, so everyone can be happier and more comfortable. I’ve already discussed it with Mrs. Yin, and she said I can give it a try."

"Do you have a specific plan?" Ethan Yin asked.

"Yes, yes! Hold on, let me show you—I just drew up the plans these past few days." Cherry perked up, turned to open her file box, grabbed a stack of papers, and handed them to Ethan Yin. "Take a look at my proposal and the bird’s-eye view."

"Alright." Ethan Yin didn’t stand on ceremony, took the papers, looked them over seriously, and said, "Your plan is worth a try. It’ll guarantee the harvest season and won’t be at the mercy of the weather."

"Exactly!" Cherry’s spirits lifted. "Last time there was a thunderstorm, it washed away so many fields and ruined a lot of crops. It was heartbreaking! We worked so hard to grow them! But with these facilities, we won’t have to worry about extreme weather anymore. No matter how bad the wind or rain, the crops won’t get knocked down or blown away! Also, I want to build a reservoir here—not for swimming or looks, but purely to handle extreme weather and protect the plants. And here, look, I checked this spot—it’s worth investigating. I feel like there’s something in this crack. And here, here..."

When it came to work, Cherry got really fired up and chatted away with Ethan Yin.

Ethan Yin listened intently, his eyes focused, and helped Cherry tweak a few things to make them even better.

Before they knew it, three or four hours had flown by.

As they kept talking, Cherry started to feel sleepy, but she forced herself to stay awake and keep chatting with Ethan Yin.

Ethan Yin gazed at Cherry warmly, watching her nod off again and again, until she finally fell asleep.

"Silly girl." Ethan Yin gently held Cherry and laid her down, then quietly lay beside her.

He carefully reached out, held Cherry’s hand, smiled contentedly, and then drifted off to sleep with her.

When the first ray of morning sunlight came in, Cherry groggily turned over.

Ah, that was such a good sleep.

Ah, the sunlight feels so nice.

Ah, the person sleeping next to me looks so good.

Huh? The person sleeping next to me?

Cherry jolted awake and opened her eyes wide.

When she saw who was sleeping next to her, she was so startled she sat straight up.

Oh no!

She actually fell asleep on the big bed with Ethan Yin!

What did she do last night?!

Cherry quickly looked down at her clothes—everything was perfectly intact!

Thank goodness!

Luckily, nothing happened last night!

Otherwise...

"Morning!" Ethan Yin, still half-asleep, greeted her from beside her.

"...Morning." Cherry had no idea what to say.

Even though nothing happened between them, this situation was definitely awkward, right?

But Ethan Yin looked completely calm—what was up with that?

Ethan Yin got up naturally, like he and Cherry had been married for years, and went to the bathroom to wash up.

It took Cherry a while to come back to herself, and then she scrambled to get dressed.

Ding dong! The doorbell rang.

Cherry hurried to open the door and saw Quentin Sheng standing outside with breakfast, looking completely unsurprised.

"I brought you breakfast," Quentin Sheng said, perfectly naturally.

He didn’t even bother to ask why Cherry was in Ethan Yin’s room.

Was there even a need to ask?

It was definitely her own boss shamelessly keeping Cherry here!

No need to even think about it.

"What about the person next door?" Cherry asked.

"She left," Quentin Sheng said with a big grin. "Guess she realized she didn’t have a shot, so she snuck out in the middle of the night."

Cherry was stunned.

Tian Mengmeng left last night?

So much for being soft-hearted!

If she’d known Tian Mengmeng had left, she would’ve gone back to her own room to rest!

Alright, no need to ask anymore.

Everything was part of Ethan Yin’s plan.

He probably knew Tian Mengmeng had left ages ago, but kept it from her—and then ended up sleeping with her on the same...

"I’ll go wash up in the room next door," Cherry said, feeling utterly embarrassed.

She was always so clever.

But whenever she faced Ethan Yin, her brain just didn’t work right.

This time, she’d walked right into his trap and had nothing to say for herself.

Cherry turned and went back to her own room, washed up, and only returned to Ethan Yin’s room after quite a while.

Ethan Yin had already washed up, changed clothes, and was sitting at the table looking refreshed. "Come eat, after breakfast we should head back."

Cherry gritted her teeth and went to eat.

Hmph, she was never falling for this kind of trick again!

Quentin Sheng acted like he was invisible, not there at all.

Ethan Yin looked at the fuming Cherry and knew she’d finally snapped out of it, unable to hide the smile in his eyes.

If he didn’t play a few tricks on Cherry, how would he have gotten last night’s sweet time together?

That’s just how men are—otherwise, how do you win your wife back?

They finished breakfast quickly, checked out of the room, and got ready to head home.

In the underground parking lot, just as Ethan Yin was about to get in the car, he heard Tian Mengmeng call out from behind: "Hey, mister, I still don’t know your name!"

Ethan Yin turned to look.

This Tian Mengmeng just won’t give up?

She still hasn’t left?

"Who knows when we’ll meet again?" Tian Mengmeng said, still unwilling to give up. "Even if you won’t add me on WeChat, at least tell me your name?"

As long as she knew his name, she could find out where he lived!

Then she’d definitely win him over!

"My name is..." Ethan Yin grinned mischievously. "Someone you could never reach."

With that, Ethan Yin coolly got in the car, not planning to pay her any more attention.

Cherry shook her head speechlessly and got in the car too.

Tang De’s little mistress really isn’t much!

No brains, dumb, and way too full of herself.

Does Miss Li even know about Tang De’s affairs?

Forget it, other people’s business isn’t her concern.
