Pleading for the Master’s Help

2/14/2026

After the first class ended, Lynn Chen wanted milk tea, so Eric Yu specially accompanied her from the classroom to the cafeteria.

On their way back, they happened to spot Evan Lin standing nearby.

Lynn Chen, holding her milk tea, was briefly startled upon seeing Evan Lin and Wendy Wen standing face to face. She quickly regained her composure, feigning indifference as she looked at Evan and said, "Long time no see."

"Yeah, it's been a while."

Evan Lin gave a slight nod.

Seeing Evan Lin like this, Lynn Chen forced herself to keep a straight face and pretended not to care. "You skipped the last monthly exam. The teachers might scold you, so be prepared for that mentally."

Just as Lynn finished speaking, Eric Yu stepped forward, immediately blocking her and positioning himself between her and Evan Lin.

Hey, hey, you must be Evan Lin, right? Lynn’s mentioned you a lot lately.

Eric Yu grinned, squinting his eyes as he smiled.

He had heard from Quentin Yu that the one who humiliated Tim Ruan that day was this very Evan Lin.

The students nearby were all startled by Mason’s reaction. Now, when they looked at Evan Lin, their expressions changed, a hint of unease flickering in their eyes.

"Alright, it’s almost time for class. Let’s head back to the classroom," Lynn Chen said, cutting off the drama.

After speaking, she glanced at Evan Lin again. "You should focus on your studies and stop wasting time on irrelevant things. The college entrance exam is only a few months away."

Before Lynn could finish, Evan stretched lazily, turned, and walked back to the classroom, leaving them with only his proud, solitary back.

His indifferent attitude left Lynn feeling frustrated and annoyed deep down.

"Don’t bother with him. Guys like that? I’ve seen plenty on set. No real ability, just showing off because they know a few big shots. All that swagger is just borrowed face—none of it has anything to do with him!" Eric Yu said, unable to hide his irritation.

Eric’s tone was harsh, his mood especially sour.

He turned to the crowd and said, "How about this—give it a few days and I’ll take you all to meet Serena Tong. Anyone want to see her?"

"Serena Tong?" someone echoed.

"Whoa! The superstar actress!"

"The hottest idol, the ice-cold goddess!"

Hearing Eric’s offer, Mason He and the others’ eyes lit up.

Meeting a celebrity is a huge temptation for high schoolers.

"Can I come too?" Wendy Wen couldn’t help asking.

"Of course! We’re all classmates. I’ll even help you get Serena’s autograph!" Eric Yu grinned, soaking up the admiration from everyone.

Compared to that, Evan Lin was just a student who’d stirred up trouble a month ago. Now, all the hype had faded—he was just another kid who could fight.

Some people even called him a violent maniac.

"You want to compete with me? What right do you have?" Eric sneered to himself, though his smile only grew brighter.

Eric sneered inwardly, but his smile just got even wider.

Classes came and went, and soon enough, school was over for the day.

Queenie Tong stood obediently at the school gate all day, not daring to move. Even when her legs went numb, she stayed put, terrified of upsetting Evan Lin with a single misstep.

At lunchtime, Eric Yu noticed Queenie was still there. It was awkward, and he thought about going over to chat—maybe even invite her to eat if he got the chance.

But before he could approach, Queenie shot him a warning look, and he had to awkwardly pretend he hadn’t seen her, slinking away in embarrassment.

And so it went until school let out in the afternoon.

Queenie had been standing since morning, her pale legs trembling and barely able to hold her up. She’d dressed up and worn heels today, so her feet were aching terribly.

Finally, she saw Evan Lin leaving the school. Her eyes lit up and she hurried after him.

Evan walked with his bag slung over his shoulder, hands in his pockets, heading out. Queenie followed behind, saying nothing, just looking at him with pleading, puppy-dog eyes.

"Master, please! I’m begging you!"

Queenie’s eyes were brimming with tears, her voice thick with emotion.

"I’m too lazy to go tonight. We’ll do it another time," Evan said, glancing at her.

Whether he helped or not didn’t really matter—he agreed simply because he had nothing better to do. If he ended up going, it wouldn’t be a big deal.

"Then how about in a few days? My sister’s got a fan meeting coming up—let’s do it that day! Thank you, Master!" Queenie’s eyes lit up, quickly wiping away her tears and smiling through her gratitude.

"Stop following me. Go get a ride home yourself."

Evan waved her off, and Queenie instantly froze, not daring to follow another step.

She looked at Evan with growing awe and respect. Only when he’d completely disappeared did she clench her fists in excitement and quickly call her sister to share the good news.

Serena Tong’s upcoming fan meeting was already causing a stir all over Capitalview City.
