The moment Evan Yang stepped in, all the guards around him tensed up, preparing as if facing a deadly enemy. Evan looked at them with a resigned expression and continued to stand in the pool. Soon, lightning appeared in the pool, striking directly at Evan's head.
Not only did the lightning have no effect on Evan, he actually absorbed it straight into his body.
"So, how is it?" Evan sighed.
Once they saw Evan wasn't a strange creature, everyone finally relaxed. The shepherd also smiled and said to Evan, "Sorry, I was just being cautious."
"It's fine. Actually, it's more interesting with more people around." Arriving on Storm God Star, Evan felt he'd come to the right place. Here, he should be able to find out more of what he wanted to know.
"Come on, let me buy you a drink to apologize—and we can chat about this world while we're at it," the shepherd said with a smile.
That was exactly what Evan wanted, so he followed the shepherd to a tavern. Inside, he saw many other humans and felt a sense of kinship. But more than that, he wanted to know where the Otherworld creatures lived, where the Plane Lord was sealed, and how to stop him from awakening.
"My name's Tim Tiron. And you?" the shepherd asked with a smile.
"I'm Evan Yang," Evan replied with a smile.
"This drink is my way of apologizing to you," Tim said with a smile.
Evan smiled. "It's fine. I'm just curious—do all suspicious people have to come here? What if someone escapes along the way?"
"If they run, they run. But if only I had a Thunder Star Stone—it can force Otherworld creatures to reveal themselves. It's a kind of talisman for us humans, but it's expensive, only the wealthy or strong can afford one." Tim Tiron laughed.
Hearing this, Evan said, "So that's how it works. I thought everyone had to come here—wouldn't that keep you all busy?"
"That's true," Tim said with a silly grin.
Evan thought for a moment and asked curiously, "By the way, earlier on Threshold Star I asked you about the divine incarnations. Can you tell me more?"
"Honestly, people like us have no idea who they are. If their identities were public, it would just overwhelm them and make things harder for the incarnations." Tim replied.
"So how can you find out?" Evan asked, curious.
"It's hard to say. Some say you have to go to the Divine Saint Star, but ordinary people can't enter. Only Top Hunters are allowed in." Tim answered.
"Top Hunter? What's that?" Evan asked, intrigued.
"Looks like you don't know this either. Hunters are people who specialize in killing strange creatures. The more and the stronger creatures you kill, the higher your title. The highest rank is Top Hunter—they can go to Divine Saint Star, where all the experts gather. They should know the truth." Tim explained.
Hearing this, Evan muttered, "So that's how it is. What kind of strange creatures do Top Hunters have to kill?"
"What? You want to be a Top Hunter?" Tim Tiron exclaimed in shock.
"That's right, that's exactly what I want," Evan replied.
"It's really difficult. You have to kill at least two strange creatures with solid-stage Immortal Sovereign strength. That's extremely hard—very few people have that kind of power." Tim explained.
Evan thought for a moment. He could defeat Demon Sovereign Skyflood himself, so killing two shouldn't be a problem. So he asked, "Where can I find them?"
"Huh? Are you crazy?" Tim thought Evan was insane and exclaimed in shock.
"I'm not crazy. I'm being serious with you," Evan said.
"You're definitely crazy. But I don't know, and asking me is pointless. Such powerful strange creatures—hardly anyone knows where they appear." Tim replied.
Evan thought about it and agreed. But if he wanted to draw out the experts, it was simple: just hunt strange creatures and stronger ones would show up. Gradually, he'd encounter them. So he smiled and asked, "Do you know where the most strange creatures gather?"
"What are you planning?" Tim was already startled by Evan's words.
"Just want to see for myself," Evan said with a smile.
"You..." Tim was at a loss for words about Evan.
Seeing the earnest look in Evan's eyes, Tim said, "I don't know myself, but you can go to the city's Military Hall. There, you can find out where the human legions are fighting the major battles against the various creatures."
"Alright, thanks." Evan smiled, raised his glass to Tim, and then left immediately.
Watching Evan's hurried steps, Tim muttered suspiciously, "What exactly is he up to? Is he really going to the battlefield?"
Tim was already scared by his own guess. The battlefield between humans and creatures was terrifying—wars could last for months, years, or even decades, with heavy casualties every time.
Naturally, many strange creatures would show up in such battles. If Evan really went, he might run into all kinds of powerful ones, which would be troublesome—but there was nothing Tim could do.
As for Evan, he had already arrived at the Military Hall Tim mentioned.
The hall was crowded. He found that missions were posted here—tasks to kill various creatures. Each mission listed the type of creature, where it appeared, and the reward for completing it. "So that's how it works. There's even a place like this," Evan muttered to himself. He scanned the board for missions involving Immortal Sovereign-level targets, but saw only Emperor-level ones. "They probably don't want people throwing their lives away," Evan thought. But maybe he could ask the registrar directly where powerful creatures appeared—that would save him from searching one by one. So he went to a registrar and asked, "Do you have any Immortal Sovereign-level missions? And I mean solid-stage ones."
As soon as he said that, the whole hall went silent. Everyone stared at Evan, shocked and suspicious, all sorts of guesses running through their minds.
Seeing everyone stunned, Evan asked again, "Any Immortal Sovereign-level? Solid-stage ones?"
The registrar snapped back to attention. "Are you here to cause trouble?"
The people around burst out laughing. Seeing their disbelief, Evan said helplessly, "I'm serious. Is there any or not?"
"Crazy. No, there isn't. Get out of here, I'm busy," the registrar cursed.
Evan didn't leave, so four guards appeared and tried to drive him away.
Seeing their aggressive stance, Evan said helplessly, "I'm asking for real. Is this really necessary?"
"Who would ask such a pointless question? Obviously you're here to stir up trouble. If you don't leave, I'll make you leave," the registrar said coldly.
"What if I don't leave?" Evan sighed.
"Not leaving? Everyone, get him!" the registrar shouted. The four enforcers rushed up and surrounded Evan, ready to beat him up.
But Evan wasn't about to let them beat him up. With a few quick moves, he rendered all four immobile. The crowd was stunned. The registrar was furious. "How dare you cause trouble in the Military Hall! Just wait!" He pulled out a tube, walked outside, and fired it into the sky. A loud bang, fire, and smoke spread through the city.
Evan guessed they were off to get an expert. He considered leaving, but figured this might be the fastest way to meet the management and learn what he wanted, so he stayed put.
The registrar sneered, "You've got guts, but today, no matter what, you're finished."
Just as he finished speaking, loud noises echoed through the city.
Someone shouted, "The Armored Legion is coming!" Evan wondered what the Armored Legion was and looked outside. He saw a line of people in black armor, faint lightning flickering across their suits, each carrying a spear, marching in formation toward the hall.
"Kid, you're dead. The Armored Legion is here," the registrar snorted.
Just as Evan was watching, someone in armor rushed out from behind the Legion, arriving first at the door. The rest of the Armored Legion stopped and shouted in unison, "Who dares cause trouble!"
The voice was loud enough to scare many. The people in the hall realized trouble was coming—many who'd come for missions hurried out to watch from outside.
"Lord Ziying, it's him," the registrar said to the armored figure at the front.
The armored figure didn't speak, just nodded and stared at Evan. He raised his right hand and brought it down.
As his hand fell, the Armored Legion surged forward, every spear pointed at Evan. Evan felt the electricity gathering from all the spear tips, focusing on him.
Anyone else would have been paralyzed, but Evan was no ordinary person. That bit of electricity was nothing to him. He stood there smiling, "May I ask your name? Would you care to sit down and talk?"
Seeing Evan surrounded yet still smiling and chatting, everyone was shocked. The armored commander looked puzzled, then raised his left hand. The Armored Legion quickly thrust their spears at Evan.
Seeing the commander ignore him, Evan smiled. "If that's how it is, then forgive me." With that, he spun rapidly in place, and soon, all the spears went flying.
The crowd scattered in panic. The armored leader's eyes widened, and he drew his sword from his waist. The sword was clearly extraordinary. He stepped forward and slashed at Evan with lightning speed.
Evan quickly retreated and used his energy to block the sword. One attacked, one defended—the crowd watched like a show, curious about this bold stranger who dared make trouble in the Military Hall.
Meanwhile, the registrar muttered to himself, "Who is this guy? I've never seen him before. Even Lord Ziying can't take him down."
