Chapter 896: The Radiance Commander
Countless spells transformed into a fiery tornado. Even more terrifying, the tornado began to contract rapidly, as if endless magic from all directions was pinning the Radiance Commander dead center.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Infinite flames erupted. Every instant, dozens of spells struck the Radiance Commander. His crimson battle aura armor could no longer withstand such a dense and terrifying assault.
Fine cracks appeared across that crystal-like armor, and his battle aura was draining like a flood bursting through a dam—every second, a massive amount of crimson energy was spent.
After three seconds, the Radiance Commander completely lost control of his body, battered to the ground by a barrage of fire spells.
In an instant, dozens—hundreds—of spells hammered the earth, making the ground of Radiance Fortress tremble ever so slightly.
And the Radiance Commander, trapped at the very center of this magical onslaught, was relentlessly suppressed. Every second, he endured hundreds of high-level spells—someone as physically formidable as Xiuban would be ground to death by such force, let alone the Radiance Commander...
Below Sky Rank, no one could possibly survive this...
Outside Radiance Fortress, the spectators were left dumbstruck. Anderson stared blankly at the towering flame giant and the two rune halos, never expecting those rune halos could be used like this...
"You gotta be kidding me, this actually works? Such a sneaky trick—this has to be something you taught them, right?"
Anderson turned his face toward Leon, wearing an expression that screamed, 'I knew only you could teach them such underhanded traps.'
Wagner, who'd been watching the whole time, kept his composure, but his eyes were nearly popping out of his head.
Don't be fooled by how simple it looks—just moving those rune halos is a game changer. Compared to keeping them stationary, it's a whole different league.
Powerful Title Archmages, when fighting, can summon an Elemental Gate for their specialty spells, unleashing torrents of magic. It's a common trick to boost spell volume and cut down on consumption.
All top-tier Title Archmages have this ability, but the Elemental Gate is always fixed in place! If the gate gets destroyed, the spellcasting stops—it's basically like any guided spell.
But what kind of monster is a movable Elemental Gate?
A Ninth-Rank Black Iron Orc Sword Saint, all because of this seemingly tiny change, got tricked to death—caught in the endless flood of spells and utterly suppressed. No matter who you are, you'd end up blasted to ashes.
Way too sneaky. How could a Mage Legion pull off something like this?
Leon watched quietly. Nobody realized this was exactly what he meant: only when the Mage Legion's members gradually advance to Title Archmage does the Legion truly awaken its combat potential.
From the very beginning—Flame Storm Mage Runes, meditation mana, core meditation principles, staffs, robes—everything was standardized. Every Mage Legion mage was identical, and with the addition of modified alchemical arrays, the bare minimum for unleashing their full combat power was for everyone to reach Title Archmage.
Before, the Mage Legion couldn't pull off moves like this at all. Their mana consumption, control, and spell management fell far short of what's needed.
Once their strength rises again, that flame elemental giant won't just be half-formed—it'll step out fully from the fire. At that point, the Mage Legion could crush anyone below Sky Rank. Stand together, and no one beneath Sky Rank would stand a chance against their combined force.
Back in Northend's golden age, the training methods of the top-three Mage Legions were no joke. They even dared to go toe-to-toe with Sky Rank. By comparison, Leon's Mage Legion—what they're doing now is just child's play, barely worth mentioning.
Just as everyone thought the Radiance Commander was about to be crushed for good, Leon suddenly frowned. His Mana Harness automatically activated, catching a faint, powerful fluctuation beneath Radiance Fortress.
The next moment, the Radiance Commander—buried under the flood of spells—let out a furious roar, his terrifying aura erupting wildly.
Crimson battle aura blazed skyward, violently forcing the torrent of spells upward.
A blinding crimson sword light flashed past. Everyone saw what looked like a massive sword, dozens of meters long, shooting into the sky. The torrent of fire magic, meters thick, was cleaved in two by a single slash.
All the flame spells shattered into pure elemental fire, exploding outward in every direction...
The Radiance Commander slowly floated upward. The harsh glow of his battle aura faded, replaced by a gentle, flame-like radiance. His shattered crimson armor rapidly reformed, instantly enveloping him—even his eyes were covered by two blood-red crystals.
Even the battle aura streaming from the greatsword softened, slowly solidifying into something tangible—a massive sword, over ten meters long, blazing with crimson fire.
The air around the Radiance Commander grew calm, but the suffocating pressure began to radiate outward, weighing on everyone nearby.
That was power beyond the ordinary!
Only those who surpass the limits of Sword Saint can wield such force!
"Damn humans, you've pushed me too far! The honor and shame of the Black Iron Orcs must be washed away with your blood. Now die—none of you will escape!"
The Radiance Commander roared in fury. Sensing his sudden surge of power—that faint touch of transcendence—the remaining Black Iron Orcs seemed to find their backbone.

Outside Radiance Fortress, Anderson was already controlling the Arcane Wheel, ready to intervene. But seeing Leon merely frown, with no intention of acting, he paused to ask:
"Merlin, should we step in? That guy somehow borrowed power from somewhere. He's not quite Sky Rank, but he's got a hint of Sky Rank strength now. The Mage Legion won't be able to hold him off. After all that effort raising them, it'd be a shame to see them wiped out..."
Anderson could immediately tell the Radiance Commander had somehow borrowed power, his strength skyrocketing—not Sky Rank, but already showing a trace of Sky Rank might.
The gap between Sky Rank and Sword Saint is enormous...
No matter how strong, one rank is still mortal—while the other has surpassed mortal limits, with a fundamental evolution in the nature of life. Even a sliver of Sky Rank power is impossible for anyone below Sky Rank to withstand...
It was clear: the Mage Legion's destruction was just a matter of time. Even if they all attacked together, it was still uncertain whether they could win...
Leon frowned, lost in thought, seemingly unconcerned with the situation before him...
"Let him kill. If the Mage Legion can't hold out for even five minutes, they shouldn't waste their time here..."
Leon replied absentmindedly, then fell into deep thought. His Mana Harness started up, as if he wasn't concerned with the events unfolding before him.
Leon was distracted, and Anderson was left speechless. He opened his mouth but couldn't say anything, while the magic radiating from the Arcane Wheel slowly faded away.
Inside Radiance Fortress, the Radiance Commander was engulfed in explosive crimson flames. A casual swing of his greatsword unleashed a battle aura slash over ten meters long.
All fifty Battalion Mages had summoned their flame elementals, and the array formation switched to the United Chanting Formation—their trump card.
The combined flame giant completely collapsed, splitting into five massive flaming halos, each spewing countless fire spells.
