Humans Make Their Move

Inside the great hall of the City Lord’s Mansion, the Shade Lord sat at the highest seat, with Evan Chu and Princess Ivy to either side. Below them were Roxanne Lin and Sean Xiao, then Doctor Yao and the Second Elder. The heads of the four great families were also present, along with many of the original guest elders and retainers from the City Lord’s Mansion.

However, because Evan Chu killed Thomas Jia, many people had already left the City Lord’s Mansion. Some only cared about money, not allegiance—whoever paid became their master. Now, there were about twenty people left in the hall, all of them the strongest cultivators in Skyspear City.

“Today, I am extremely pleased. From this day forward, Skyspear City will officially become the Shade Clan’s main city. I will expand and rebuild the city. Since everyone is gathered here, the prosperity of the Shade Clan will depend on all of our efforts.

Now that we’ve destroyed the Ghost King and Beast King, it’s urgent that we seize their territories—we can’t let the Nether Monarch or Human King beat us to it. Scouts report both races are already making moves, so I’ve decided to postpone the banquet until after we fully control their lands. Only then will we celebrate. What do you all think?” The Shade Lord spoke directly and to the point.

“We’ll follow the Shade Lord’s orders. When do we set out?” the Yang Family head couldn’t help but ask.

“We’ll depart shortly. Now, let’s assign the teams for the Ghost Clan and Beast Clan. We’ll split into two groups: one goes to the Ghost Clan, the other to the Beast Clan. The Ghost King and all his elites have been killed, so that front should be easier; the Beast Clan isn’t much harder. I’ll take the Second Elder, two family heads, and ten guest elders to the Ghost Clan. The rest will follow Evan Chu to the Beast Clan.

I know some of you still aren’t convinced about my son-in-law, but let me be clear—Evan Chu is even stronger than I am. Both the Ghost King and Beast King were slain by him. In fact, following him is actually safer. Any objections to this arrangement?” the Shade Lord said.

Everyone stared at Evan Chu, finding it hard to believe he could kill both the Ghost King and Beast King. Only the four family heads and a few of Thomas Jia’s guest elders knew the Shade Lord was telling the truth—Thomas Jia, a Fifth-Layer Venerable, died by Evan’s sword, and Evan hadn’t suffered a single scratch, proving just how powerful he truly was.

“I know some of you might not believe me, but these are indisputable facts. You’ll see for yourselves soon enough. There’s no time to waste—let’s head out now and hope we complete our mission smoothly. This is the Shade Clan’s dream for generations. Today, let’s make it a reality!” the Shade Lord declared.

“Father, I want to go with Evan Chu. You’re not planning to leave us behind in Skyspear City, are you?” Princess Ivy asked at this moment.

The Shade Lord was about to refuse, but he glanced at Evan Chu to see what he thought. “You two should stay in Skyspear City. I’ll leave Sean Xiao here to protect you. Too many people on the frontlines would just be a burden—you know what I mean,” Evan said.

Roxanne Lin hesitated, knowing Evan would never agree. If she insisted, it would only annoy him, so there was no point. Princess Ivy glared at Evan, then said, “Fine, we won’t go. Who cares? Roxanne, let’s go!”

With that, she grabbed Roxanne and stormed out of the hall. The others just smiled at the scene. “Sean Xiao, I’m leaving Ivy and Roxanne’s safety to you. The city itself can be sacrificed, but their safety is non-negotiable. Don’t let me down.”

“Relax and go handle things. I’ll be here waiting for you to come back and drink! When you return, we’ll have to celebrate for three days and nights,” Sean Xiao said.

With that, the Shade Lord and Evan Chu split into two groups and set out for the Ghost Clan and Beast Clan. Little did they know, both territories had already been seized ahead of them by the Human Clan and Netherkin. What awaited them was a brutal battle.

Half a day later, Evan Chu arrived above the ruins of Beast King City. The place was already in shambles from Sean Xiao’s earlier rampage—most of the city was destroyed, but plenty of Beast Clan members still roamed the streets. Look closely, though, and you’d see they weren’t strolling—they were fleeing for their lives, panic written all over their faces.

The Beast Clan didn’t just have Beast King City—there were plenty of other cities, smaller than Beast King City but still sizable, like Skyspear or Wangtu City. Only by conquering all these cities could the Beast Clan be truly defeated.

At that moment, Evan Chu turned to the Yang Family head beside him. “Go check Beast King City for any powerful experts still inside. If there are, make them surrender. If they refuse, kill them—quick in, quick out. We still need to check the other cities.”

“Don’t worry, young master—I’ll get it done,” the Yang Family head replied, then flashed into the ruined city with another family head.

Soon, they discovered plenty of Beast Clan members fleeing—and, to their surprise, lots of humans. Those humans were slaughtering Beast Clan cultivators left and right. A few of them were actually Venerable Martial Realm experts. The Yang Family head realized something was off, and his face changed instantly.

He quickly said to the other family head beside him, “Old Hu, wait here. I’ll go report this strange situation to the young master. I think the Human Clan got here ahead of us—if I’m right, Beast King City is probably already under their control.”

“I agree, something’s not right. Go quickly—this can’t wait!” said the Hu Family head.

The Yang Family head soon flew back to Evan Chu. Seeing him return so quickly, Evan was surprised. “You finished already? That’s some impressive efficiency!”

“Young master, it looks like we’re late. I saw plenty of Human Clan experts in Beast King City, slaughtering Beast Clan members left and right. It’s very likely the Human Clan already took the city before us,” the Yang Family head reported.

Evan Chu frowned slightly. “Someone dares snatch food from my mouth? They must have a death wish. Come on! Let’s go pay these Human Clan experts a visit and show them what the Shade Clan can do.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Evan vanished into thin air, moving so fast that everyone behind him was stunned. This youth’s strength was truly beyond imagination.

Upon arriving in Beast King City, Evan found the situation exactly as the Yang Family head had described. At that moment, an elderly Venerable Martial Realm expert wielding a longsword was relentlessly cutting down fleeing Beast Clan members. Most of these Beast Clan cultivators were only at the Divine Martial or Saint Martial Realm, so killing them was easy.
