Untying the Knot

1/19/2026

Rainbow Court Mistress Rainveil did not spend the night in Evan Chu's room. If anyone in the manor learned of this, it would surely stir up all sorts of trouble—let alone if outsiders found out, then Evan Chu's identity would be completely exposed to the world.

Evan Chu lay alone on his bed, his heart in turmoil, unable to settle his thoughts. No matter what he tried, he just couldn't calm down, and the restlessness was driving him crazy.

Unable to stand it, he got up and walked out the door, heading for a stroll in Rainbow Court's garden. Bathed in moonlight, the garden was exceptionally beautiful, and he hoped the peaceful scenery would help soothe his agitated mind.

Evan Chu sat down by a pond. Ponds in the God Realm aren't much different from those in the lower realms or the Immortal Realm—not everything here is some divine treasure. There are plenty of ordinary things, too, though with divine energy present, even the colors seem more vibrant than down below.

Evan Chu looked up at the sky. The bright moon was slowly emerging from behind the clouds, casting silvery light that made the whole pond even more beautiful.

"It's been ages since I absorbed any Stellar Power. Once I finish my next seclusion, I have to complete all seven Big Dipper Star Marks—real experts always fight using Stellar Power, and I'm way too weak in this area." Evan Chu muttered to himself.

Thinking about this, Evan Chu suddenly felt the urge to try sensing the remaining stars of the Big Dipper. He'd never tried this since coming to the God Realm, but maybe, since so many people here can draw on Stellar Power, it would be easier than in the Immortal Realm—or maybe the God Realm is just closer to the stars.

This idea might sound a bit obsessive, but for Evan Chu, it was no big deal. Once he thought of something, he acted on it. He immediately spread out his divine sense to search for the presence of the Big Dipper, and within half a stick of incense, he sensed it—or rather, he sensed the remaining stars.

The three stars that had already formed Star Marks inside him could be tapped for Stellar Power with just a thought. Sensing the other stars here was a huge thrill for Evan Chu.

Maybe it was because his strength had improved so much. If he fought those skeletal monsters now, Evan Chu believed he could wipe them out with a single move—or maybe just stand there and let them try, and they still wouldn't be able to hurt him.

Gradually, Evan Chu's mind settled, and a faint layer of starlight appeared on his body. But at that moment, he had no idea—he was studying the movement of the star he sensed, hoping to form a new Star Mark inside himself. Only when a Star Mark is formed can a real Star Point appear.

Before he knew it, it was already past midnight, but Evan Chu was still lost in tracing the Big Dipper star's movement. Not far from the pond, someone had been standing there for a long time.

But she didn't disturb Evan Chu. Seeing the dense starlight on him, she was deeply shocked: "His starlight is so intense—what star is he sensing? The Stellar Power he's borrowing must be incredibly strong."

Gradually, clouds covered the sky, and the stars were hidden. Sensing Stellar Power became difficult, and Evan Chu woke from his meditation.

He spotted a figure not far away and was startled—it was Zoe Rainveil. What was she doing here at this hour?

"Zoe, can we talk?" Evan Chu couldn't help but call out—after all, the knot between them needed to be untied.

When Zoe heard Evan Chu's voice, she wanted to leave, but her feet wouldn't obey and she didn't move an inch. Instead, she found herself walking toward him.

Right now, Zoe was torn inside. She didn't know what to call Evan Chu—should she call him Linfeng, or should she call him 'Father'? She had no idea what to choose.

"Talk about what? Haven't you hurt me enough already? Are you trying to rub salt into my wounds?" Zoe snapped, sounding nothing like her usual gentle self.

"You've got it wrong. I know our relationship is complicated, but please, calm down and think it through. If we didn't have this blood tie, tonight would have been our wedding night. But because of it, we have to end things here.

Even though I'm just a reincarnation—not your actual father from back then—I'll awaken his memories and inherit his legacy. When that happens, I'll have to face not just moral issues but all the old debts, too. Until my memories awaken, just call me Linfeng, okay? We can get along as friends—how does that sound?" Evan Chu said.

"My heart is a mess. Ever since you entered the Origin Worldstone, I've been worried about you. Actually, from the very first time we met, I liked you—even though there was another woman at your side, I still had that feeling.

I even wondered if you'd enter my Marriage Tournament, and to my surprise, you really did. When I learned at the auction that you were the dazzling mystery bidder, my hopes soared even higher.

I waited so long for you to come out of the Origin Worldstone, then watched you fight on stage and win against all odds. It felt like fate was pushing us together. But then, out of nowhere, destiny played a cruel trick—you're my father's reincarnation.

It's like finally seeing the biggest hope right in front of me, only to be told it's impossible—hope vanishes, and I fall from heaven straight into hell. It hurts so much. I may be strong, but even I can't bear this." Zoe said, her voice choking.

"I get it, really. I'm no different. You can't break the rules of ethics—otherwise, the readers would roast Alex Xiao alive. Maybe this setup is a mistake. If you want to curse someone, curse the author, not me. I wouldn't dare offend her—if she gets mad, she might just write me off and kill me!" Evan Chu joked.

"Forget it, I'll keep calling you Linfeng for now. Like you said, I'll change how I address you after you recover your memories. But just now I saw you absorbing Stellar Power—your starlight was incredibly strong. Which star's power were you drawing from?" Zoe asked.

"Looks like you're an expert, too. Which star do you borrow power from?" Evan Chu didn't answer, but asked her instead.

"I borrow power from the Lovers' Star Pair, but right now I can only draw a little. Stellar Power is mighty, but it's a real pain to use—if you're not careful, it can blow you apart. What about you?" Zoe replied.

"I draw from the Big Dipper's Stellar Power, but for now I can only use the power of three stars. I still haven't grasped the other four, and with my current strength, I don't have time to comprehend them. Maybe after my next seclusion, I'll figure it out." Evan Chu said.

Zoe was speechless. Evan Chu's words left her so stunned she couldn't reply. Someone who can already draw power from three stars of the Big Dipper is basically unheard of...

PS: I won't be home until the afternoon of the 30th. After the midnight update, I'll have to wait until I'm back to continue. Sorry, everyone! I'll do my best to catch up once I'm home!
