Repaying Your Life-Saving Grace

The scene was utterly silent.

Everyone was stunned, staring at her in bewilderment.

Even Grace was baffled.

How did she just get out?

Could it be that Beanie's gotten this powerful now?

Just one toss and she was out of the barrier?

She awkwardly got up, brushed the dust off her clothes, and said, "I begged the Spirit Tree for ages, and it finally got annoyed and just tossed me out..."

After a pause, Grace added, "It told me not to bother it anymore."

She said this to prevent the Eastern Palace Empress from stirring up more trouble.

"You can actually communicate with the Spirit Tree?" Emperor Henry's eyes lit up.

Grace said, "...Yes!"

She really wasn't lying.

Beanie is a Spirit Tree too!

"The world is full of wonders!" Emperor Henry exclaimed. "Miss Zhu can communicate with the First Spirit Tree—clearly, she's no ordinary person."

"Your Majesty, a wise monk once told me, as long as you sincerely communicate with the divine, the divine will hear you!" Grace said.

"Hmm! Empress, you have no more objections now, do you?" Emperor Henry asked.

But the Empress didn't answer. She just frowned at her own palm.

"Empress?" Emperor Henry called again.

"Strange. Why did the Spirit Tree Array disappear?" Empress Wendy said. "The whole formation is gone!"

"Huh? What caused that?" Emperor Henry asked Empress Wendy.

Empress Wendy turned to Grace and asked, "What caused this?"

How should I know!

Grace blinked and said, "All I know is, the Spirit Tree got mad. Didn't you see me just now, getting tossed out by some mysterious force?"

Immediately, Emperor Henry looked a bit panicked. "Empress, it seems the Spirit Tree really is angry. We need to quickly prepare a ritual and beg for its forgiveness!"

Even though Empress Wendy was from the Dragon Clan, she'd never seen anything like this before. Hearing this, she started to panic too.

Could it be that what she did really angered the First Spirit Tree?

She went to check all the other formations in the First Spirit Tree planting area, and found that every array powered by the divine tree had stopped working!

Later, after Grace left, Emperor Henry and Empress Wendy hurriedly ordered people to prepare the ritual—end of story.

Grace finally passed the test smoothly.

Emperor Henry and Empress Wendy didn't give her any more trouble.

The Empress was far more generous than the Emperor, openly rewarding her with a whole pound of Celestial Spirit Jade.

She even had her precious little prince come thank her: "Someone, bring Goldie over to thank his lifesaver."

Soon, the palace staff brought out a little boy who looked like he was sculpted from jade and pink porcelain.

The boy seemed wise beyond his years. He stared at her with bright, sparkling eyes for a long moment, then gave her a very proper bow: "Thank you for saving my life, benefactor!"

Grace looked at the little prince—he was truly gifted, beautiful, and adorable.

Even though he was the biological brother of Bianca Whiteshire and Byron White, she couldn't bring herself to dislike him at all.

"No need to be so formal, little prince," Grace said. "It was just a little favor—I'm glad you're safe!"

"It may have been a little favor to you, but to me, it was a lifesaving grace!" Goldie solemnly took off a colorful goldfish-shaped Longevity Locket from his neck and handed it to Grace. "My grandfather gave me this. It's yours now—as thanks for saving my life."

"Huh?" Grace looked at the Longevity Locket, torn between laughter and tears. "This... You should keep it, little prince! The Emperor and Empress have already rewarded me."
