Beanie Becomes Famous
Beanie's magic vine curled around and pulled her close to the trunk.
Then, it pointed at the Spirit Tree outside.
"What do you mean?" Grace asked. "You want me to go out and hug the Spirit Tree and beg it?"
Beanie nodded, then shook its head.
"You nod, then shake your head—what's that supposed to mean?"
Beanie couldn't speak, so it just repeated the same motions.
Grace had no choice but to go out.
Apparently, being able to communicate with a Spirit Tree was a pretty novel ability.
As soon as she stepped out, she saw Byron White, Bianca Whiteshire, Goldie, and the rest had all come over to watch the show.
Outside the barrier, a whole crowd was staring at her with green brows and green eyes.
Even Bianca Whiteshire had shown up at some point, chatting with Empress Wendy.
Grace felt a little awkward.
What was she supposed to do now?
Beanie absolutely refused to help her—was she really supposed to hug the Spirit Tree and beg it?
She felt so silly!
The space surrounded by the four Spirit Trees was pretty small, and Grace had nowhere to hide. Just standing there daydreaming wasn't helping either.
So she actually went to the thickest Spirit Tree, just like before, hugged the trunk, and prayed: Spirit Tree, oh Spirit Tree, not only do humans suck up all your spiritual energy, they always use your power to set up arrays!
That's just so awful!
From now on, let's never let them use us again, okay?
......
Outside the barrier, Empress Wendy of the Eastern Luo Empire asked her daughter Bianca Whiteshire, "Did you escort His Highness to the border?"
"Yeah," Bianca replied. "No idea when he's going to finish his business."
Empress Wendy smiled, "When he gets back, I'll go to Dragon Abyss to meet the Divine Empress and make your engagement official."
"Thank you, Mother Empress," Bianca said, though she sounded anything but happy.
"What's wrong? You've been down lately," Empress Wendy asked.
"Isn't it all because of Grace Zhu?" Bianca glanced at the barrier, where Grace was still hugging the Spirit Tree. "Who knows what kind of love potion she gave His Highness—he only has eyes for her now!"
Empress Wendy frowned at Byron White. "Byron, didn't you say you could help your sister get rid of this big problem?"
"Mother Empress, don't worry!" Byron said. "You'll see results soon."
"What kind of results?" Empress Wendy asked.
"She'll ask His Highness to break off the engagement herself," Byron said confidently. "Then, of course, His Highness won't want her anymore. And since we didn't do anything to her, he can't blame us for it."
"But how could she possibly ask to break off the engagement herself?"
Byron just smiled and whispered his plan to his mother and sister...
The two of them nodded along, totally convinced...
Grace finished her rant while hugging the tree, then went back in to find Beanie.
"Beanie, Beanie! I'm begging you! You wouldn't really let them throw me into the torture chamber, would you? Listen, the stuff in there is terrifying! It's worse than death!"
Beanie still wouldn't budge. It just pointed outside with its magic vine, telling her to go out.
"Heartless little thing!" Grace snapped. "After all I've done to find spirit jades to feed you, I don't even ask for anything in return. You're the only one who can save me—how can you just watch me die?"
Beanie must've gotten mad, because it wrapped her up with its magic vine and tossed her out.
Then, everyone outside the barrier saw Grace Zhu suddenly fly out, crash-land, and end up face-down in the dirt.
