Failing to Appreciate Kindness

2/14/2026

"Someone from the Hong Kong Li family?"

Yara Song was taken aback when she heard this.

"Yeah, remember that Leo Li from Oceanport?"

Victor Wu walked up to Yara Song. "It's him. Didn't he flee back to Hong Kong in disgrace?"

"But a few days ago, he contacted me, asking about your schedule. I didn't tell him when we'd arrive, so I'm just letting you know now."

Leo Li from the Hong Kong Li family.

Whenever this person was mentioned, Yara couldn't help but think of someone like Master Lin from Seacrest.

Previously, this Leo Li from the Hong Kong Li family made a big scene in Oceanport. What stuck with Yara most—apart from the Hong Kong Li family backing him—was his name.

Leo Li's name was, literally, 'Leo Li.'

So whether someone was more impressive than him or worse off, they all had to call him 'Leo Li.'

"That Leo Li gave me a bad feeling."

Yara Song frowned.

"I know."

Victor Wu nodded. "I've looked into it too."

"Leo Li isn't actually a direct descendant of the Hong Kong Li family. He's from a collateral branch, but he's still a Li clansman."

"You should know how much weight the Hong Kong Lee Family carries."

Victor Wu paused, then looked at Yara Song. "So think it over first. You don't need to give an answer right away."

"From what I know, the Hong Kong Li family isn't just interested in you this time. They've also taken an interest in Serena Tong."

"Serena Tong?"

Just as she was about to push open the door and return to her room, Yara Song paused. "Doesn't she always refuse to meet anyone she doesn't need to know?"

"Besides, the Hong Kong Li family's businesses don't really overlap much with Serena Tong. It's not like me—I'm technically an artist under their companies."

"Would Serena Tong even agree to meet someone from the Hong Kong Li family?"

This was something Yara Song found hard to understand.

"Everyone in the industry knows Serena's personality. She'd never meet someone she doesn't want to, whether it's for opportunity, money, or anything else."

Mentioning this, Yara couldn't help but feel a little envious.

"That, I don't know."

Victor Wu thought for a moment. "Serena Tong was previously the spokesperson for Angel Epoch, and behind Angel Epoch is Master Lin from Seacrest."

"With Master Lin from Seacrest supporting Serena, that's probably where her confidence comes from."

"Last time, Leo Li went to Oceanport to try and seize Angel Epoch's company and market, but in the end, he was driven back by Master Lin from Seacrest."

"So, if you add it all up, doesn't it mean Serena Tong is basically on the opposite side of the Hong Kong Li family?"

Victor Wu's mind was a little muddled.

But as he sorted out the threads, he suddenly saw the bigger picture.

"Whatever, let's just wait and see how the drama unfolds."

Yara Song yawned, looking completely unconcerned. "Serena should be arriving today too. We'll see then if she goes or not."

"Anyway, I need to hurry up and get ready, or else I'll be outshined by her."

"Besides, I think Serena might actually meet with someone from the Hong Kong Li family. Anyone who can come out of a family like that is bound to be a dragon among men."

"No matter what, meeting someone from the Hong Kong Li family is way better than that guy just sitting downstairs on the sofa waiting for nothing, right?"

"That kid doesn't look like someone with any real ability or background."

After saying this, Yara Song returned to her room to get ready.

Once Yara was in her room, Victor Wu walked to the balcony railing and looked down.

"Still sitting there, refusing to leave?"

Seeing Evan Lin still sitting on the sofa, Victor Wu frowned. "The reporters have already snapped photos today—who knows what they'll write about you and Yara."

"The longer you stay in the hotel, the more exaggerated their stories will get."

"So, sorry about this."

Victor Wu muttered a few words to himself and took out his phone.

He first called the front desk.

"Hello, I'd like to speak with your lobby manager," Victor said.

"Certainly, please hold. I'll transfer you now," the receptionist replied crisply, transferring the call to the lobby manager's phone.

At the hotel entrance, the man tasked with both keeping out intruders and welcoming arriving celebrities was watching the growing crowd of fans. He couldn't help but feel a bit emotional.

He wished he could be a celebrity someday too.

Being admired, making money with ease, and basking in the spotlight wherever you go.

Just as she was thinking about this.

Her phone rang.

She picked up.

"Hello?"

"Hi, this is Victor Wu." Victor Wu introduced himself.

"Ah, hello. Is there anything you need help with?" The man’s tone softened instantly.

But there was a hint of surprise in his words.

He had just met Victor Wu at the entrance, and Victor could have just gone to the front desk if he needed anything—there was really no need to call him directly.

"Here’s the thing: earlier, I brought someone in with me—do you remember?" Victor Wu got straight to the point.

"Yeah, that guy who tried to sneak in."

The lobby manager nodded, but realized he’d misspoken and quickly corrected himself: "No, I mean your friend. Sorry, I said the wrong thing."

"No, you were right the first time. That guy really was trying to sneak into the hotel to bother Miss Yara Song."

Victor Wu spoke coldly: "He even booked the same flight just to be on the same plane as Miss Yara."

"He followed her from the mainland to Hong Kong, and now to the hotel—way over the line."

"Miss Yara is kind and soft-hearted. She asked me to let him in and talk things out, hoping he'd give up. But now the kid’s getting bolder—Miss Yara already made it clear there's no chance, told him to leave, but he’s still hanging around the hotel, refusing to go."

"So, could you bring some people over and ask him to leave?"

Victor Wu chose his words carefully: "You know Miss Yara rarely has any scandals. If the gossip reporters start making things up, it could seriously affect her reputation."

"Got it! I’ll bring people right away, please rest assured."

The sharply dressed lobby manager straightened up: "And please give my regards to Miss Yara."

"If there’s a chance, I’d love to get a photo with Miss Yara."

The lobby manager called his staff while speaking softly into the phone.

"No problem. When there’s time, I’ll have Yara take a solo photo with you."

Victor Wu nodded: "Thanks, I’ll leave it to you."

He hung up and stood at the railing, not leaving right away, but looking down below.

He scanned the scene.

Soon enough.

At the hotel entrance, the lobby manager led a group of people in suits and security uniforms straight toward the young man sitting on the sofa.

"Perfect, time to watch the show."

"Kid, don’t blame me—if you don’t know how to appreciate kindness, that’s on you."

Victor Wu muttered to himself.
