Looking at His Father with Gentle Eyes

1/4/2026

This sudden change in Quinn Xiao was way too abrupt.

Lucy Luan was still confused—how did she suddenly turn into a whole different person?

But when she heard the words 'Divine General,' she instantly understood.

Quinn Xiao was doing all this just to get back into the Palace Guard Barracks.

Apparently, His Majesty the Celestial Emperor wanted her to show some attitude, so she used herself as the example.

Before long, His Majesty the Celestial Emperor arrived.

He brought Sean Shaw along with him.

Lucy and Quinn both returned to their seats.

The Celestial Emperor looked like he was in a pretty good mood.

But Sean Shaw wore a face of pure indifference, his whole body radiating reluctance—clearly, he’d been dragged here by the Emperor.

But the moment Sean saw Lucy, his eyes flickered—and all that reluctance vanished without a trace.

Lucy flashed him a smile.

He quickly turned away and gazed at his father with the gentlest eyes imaginable.

The Celestial Emperor grinned and took his seat beside the Celestial Empress, scanning the room. Then, as if he’d just discovered a new continent, he called out, "Oh? Divine Lady Lucia, why are you here?"

"Uh..." Lucy had no idea what to say.

She couldn’t exactly say she’d been invited by the Celestial Empress to make peace with Quinn Xiao, right?

"It’s a family banquet today! Are you representing someone’s family member?" the Celestial Emperor teased, still grinning.

As soon as he said that, the palace attendants started smirking and trying not to laugh.

They shot her ambiguous looks, then glanced at Henry Xiao.

Lucy: "..."

Sometimes, she really did have irreverent thoughts about the Celestial Emperor.

Like right now.

"What nonsense are you spouting?" The Celestial Empress shot the Emperor a sideways glare. "I invited her!"

"Oh... Then why only invite her? Sure, she’s the prettiest, but all three Lu kids are at Drake Abyss. Isn’t that a little unfair?"

"Your daughter was causing trouble again the other day! And you did nothing!" the Empress snapped. "I had no choice but to shamelessly invite her over to apologize!"

The Celestial Emperor glanced at Quinn Xiao.

Quinn immediately pouted and said, "I’ve already apologized to Divine Lady Lucia, and she forgave me. If you don’t believe me, ask her!"

"Is that true, Lucia?" the Emperor asked her.

Lucy stood up and said, "It was just a misunderstanding. Once it’s cleared up, it’s fine. The Celestial Empress is being too serious."

"See? Didn’t I say so? We got along great just now! Father Emperor, I’ve repented and reformed—can I go back to the Palace Guard Barracks now?" Quinn begged.

"You’re about to get married. What’s the point of running off to the Palace Guard Barracks?" the Emperor said. "Just stay in the palace and get ready for your wedding."

The Empress looked annoyed. "There are still years before the wedding! Besides, I’ll handle all the preparations for her. Why should a young girl worry about it herself? Let her go back and learn more things—that’s what’s best for her future!"

The Emperor was about to say more, but the Empress suddenly slammed her cup down on the table.

The Celestial Emperor visibly flinched, opened his mouth, glanced at his wife, and didn’t dare argue anymore. He waved at Quinn Xiao, "Go if you want!"

Lucy could barely stand to look at the Emperor after that.

The mighty Celestial Emperor, so thoroughly henpecked... it was honestly impressive.

"But you’d better behave—don’t bring your pampered princess attitude into the barracks!" the Emperor said sternly. "The military has its own rules. You represent the face of the Divine Dragon Clan’s women! If you act up again, I’ll never let you go back!"

"Got it! I won’t," Quinn Xiao pouted.

Just then, the Emperor looked over at Sean. "Hey, Little Five, why are you still standing there?"

He casually pointed to the seat next to Lucy. "Go on, find a place to sit!"
