Cannot Drink Wine Will Get Drunk

There was no seat prepared for Sean Shaw at this family banquet.

Only the spot beside Lucia Lu was left vacant.

Sean, who’d been standing all along, strode over and sat down next to her.

He had this naturally commanding aura about him.

The moment he sat, Lucia felt that aura crash into her—like being pressed by hot water.

Her mouth went a little dry.

She grabbed the wine jug at hand, poured herself a cup, and knocked it back in one go.

Cool, refreshing, and absolutely delicious.

She reached for the wine jug again.

But Sean suddenly snatched the jug away to his side.

Lucia’s hand froze midair. She turned, glaring at him.

“This is wine,” Sean said in a low voice. “It’s very intoxicating.”

“Huh?” Lucia hadn’t caught that, so she leaned closer. “What? Why’d you steal my wine jug?”

Sean leaned in too. “No. Drinking. Wine. You’ll get drunk.”

Lucia pouted. “It’s not intoxicating at all! It tastes great!”

“Strong aftertaste.” He moved the jug even farther away.

Lucia eyed the jug, smacked her lips, and instantly regretted draining it in one gulp.

She should’ve saved it and savored it slowly.

Suddenly, the Celestial Empress spoke up. “Where’s Chief Steward Xie?”

Her tone held a hint of anger.

An elderly official shuffled out from a corner and bowed, "This humble one is present."

"How did you arrange things?" The Celestial Empress’s face was stern. "Why didn’t you prepare a seat for Fifth Highness?"

Chief Steward Xie replied, "Please forgive me, Your Majesty and Empress! I truly didn’t know Fifth Highness would attend. I’ll arrange it right away!"

He turned and waved. Instantly, attendants carried in a table and placed it below the seats of Third Prince Nathan Xiao and Fourth Highness.

"Sean, go sit over there! Stop crowding Lucia. Boys and girls should keep a little distance!" the Celestial Empress ordered.

Sean glanced at her, said nothing, and walked to the new table.

All the tables in the hall were evenly spaced.

But the new table was set twice as far away as the others.

It was placed way off at the very end.

Every other table was piled high with Immortal Flat Peaches, fairy fruits, pastries, and wine.

But Sean’s table? Completely empty.

Chief Steward Xie disappeared as soon as the table was set up.

Clearly, nobody planned to serve him any food.

Sean knelt alone at that distant table, looking even more like an outsider than Lucia.

If this was how they treated him in front of the Emperor and guests, it must be even worse in private…

The Celestial Emperor glanced at Sean, then suddenly picked up an Immortal Flat Peach. "Saint Lucia, this is a Drake Abyss peach. Try it—see if it’s like the ones from Peach Blossom Haven."

He cast a spell and sent it to her.

She already had one at her table, but she accepted it anyway and bowed. "Thank you for your imperial favor, Your Majesty."

The Celestial Emperor then looked at Sean. "Little Five, you’ve always loved Immortal Flat Peaches. Here, all of mine are yours."

He sent all the fruit and wine from his table to Sean’s, leaving his own table bare.

Now, the Celestial Emperor’s table was completely empty.

The Celestial Empress’s face turned ugly.

Second Prince Victor Xiao, Third Prince Nathan Xiao, Fourth Highness Henry Xiao, and Princess Quinn Xiao all looked sour.

The pressure in the hall dropped; the whole atmosphere grew tense.

Suddenly, a loud "smack!" echoed through the hall.

Second Prince Victor Xiao slammed his cup on the table, snapping, "Sean, Father Emperor just favored you—how can you not even thank him?"

Sean just shot him a cold look and said nothing.
