I stared in shock, eyes wide, as if everything before me had frozen in time. The Wraithlord burst into wild laughter right in front of me.
Black currents swept all the Ghost Sovereigns inside. Mr. Brown (Zhuang Bo) was already collapsed on the ground. The fragments formed after Tan Tian exploded were suspended in midair, locked in a state of eruption. The entire world, with the emergence of the Wraithlord's instinct, seemed utterly frozen.
Fierce black flames burned on the humanoid form of the Wraithlord's instinct, billowing smoke and ash.
"I should have told you—none of you stand a chance. Instinct is born from illusion, yet it exists in the hearts of real people. Don't forget, I was once human too!"
As the Wraithlord spoke, I felt a wave of suffocation. Instantly, I coughed up a mouthful of blood. Power surged within me. The Wraithlord's instinct moved just a little closer, and I felt as if I were about to be crushed. Pain flooded through my entire body as I gritted my teeth and forced myself to stand.
"It was indeed a clever strategy—using power to trap me in an instant, forcing me to unleash other forces and trigger chaos in my ghostly form, then seizing the chance to suppress me with instinct. After all, this body of mine is also born of illusion, and the instinct that comes with power can naturally hold me down. Too bad you didn't expect John Chou (Yin Qiu Jian) to intervene."
I glanced sideways at the scene below. The Ghost Sovereigns were still conscious, but none could move. The Wraithlord's true body remained unconscious.
A look of unwillingness flashed across John Chou's face. He stared coldly in this direction as the Wraithlord continued to laugh madly, shaking his head over and over.
"Your instincts all possess self-awareness. Unfortunately, mine does not. That kind of meaningless thing is unnecessary."
At that moment, I felt my body growing more comfortable. New life began to emerge from my soul, continuously releasing power to resist the oppressive force brought on by the Wraithlord's instinct.
The Wraithlord stared at us coldly and raised his fist again. In an instant, I was floating in midair.
"Rachel Lan, I've already warned you and given you many chances. After all, I've witnessed everything between you and Ethan Zhang, watching you overcome obstacle after obstacle. That's why I decided to give you two a chance. But you didn't cherish it. Let me ask you one last time—if you stop now, as promised, I'll create a real, beautiful dream for you, where you and the one you love will live forever in a sunlit world filled with flowers."
I stared at the Wraithlord, but said nothing—just smiled. The Wraithlord pressed a hand to his forehead and burst into laughter.
"If you are their last hope, then now I will crush that hope."
My eyes widened.
"Don't get carried away, Wraithlord!"
Tan Tian's voice rang out. Instantly, intertwined brown beams pierced the Wraithlord's body. Countless threads of light wove together, riddling the Wraithlord with holes.
The Wraithlord smiled coldly and suddenly swung his arm to the left. Only then did I notice those brown lights hadn't actually penetrated his body—they simply passed through, as if he were a shapeless shadow.
The Wraithlord made a grabbing motion, and I saw a bizarre beast with only a head instantly seized by him.
"Do you know what my instinct is?"
I swallowed hard, the sweat on my forehead frozen on the surface of my skin.
"It's called the world!"
The Wraithlord released the beast's head and turned toward me. The black beast's head hovered in midair, its eyes fixed on me.
"Your plan worked. You forced me to use other powers and threw my ghostly form into chaos. That gave you an opening—you want to break my ghost body apart, scatter my Three Souls and Seven Spirits, and seal me away again. It would all be over. I've waited too long for this."
The Wraithlord stepped toward me, and though I tried to resist, my body wouldn't move. He raised his hand slightly, and in an instant, I felt my consciousness being ripped away. I saw myself lying motionless on the ground, while my body floated upward.
I sensed something strange—it was my state of being. I looked around, and saw a blood-red particle drifting toward me from afar. John Chou stood before me.
"What is going on?"
"The plan continues, Rachel Lan. One moment is all it takes. Listen—no matter what happens next, you must look back on everything you've experienced. One strike is enough. Unleash all your power."
I nodded. What I saw should be John Chou's mental projection, but I felt a gaze from the ghost district below. Suddenly, a streak of black current appeared beside us, and my consciousness snapped back into my body.
"John Chou, don't bother with these petty tricks. They're meaningless to me."
As the Wraithlord spoke, I glimpsed a fading shadow—my neck was gripped tightly by him.
In a flash, the Wraithlord's eyes widened. The hand clutching me was severed by a streak of red light—a blood-red figure wielding a broken blade sliced it off. Someone yanked me away.
I was instantly pulled away from the Wraithlord. A blue figure appeared behind him, arms raised. The Wraithlord burst out laughing, his severed hand instantly healing. I glanced back—the one pulling me was a purple figure, Mona Ouyang's dream instinct.
A mottled black-green figure appeared on either side of the Wraithlord, pinning him down. Then, a black flame figure landed before him, transforming into black fire that engulfed him. I looked back again—the Ghost Sovereigns were still immobilized. For a moment, the Wraithlord was restrained, but he showed no panic, just kept shaking his head.

"Don't you understand? The world!"
From within the black flames, the Wraithlord stretched out a hand, suddenly forming a fist. Instantly, all the instincts attacking him turned to dissipating smoke and ash. The Wraithlord was right before me, the purple figure behind me moved to block, but was instantly reduced to smoke upon impact.
"Whether it's you or your instincts, compared to me, it's the difference between the world and a grain of sand."
I felt dizzy, but then saw a streak of black light flash over, dragging me away from the Wraithlord—it was Tan Tian. The Wraithlord was already behind us.
"Where do you think you're going, Tan Tian? Whatever you do, it's all meaningless."
