Ghost Sovereign Versus Wraithlord VIII

12/15/2025

Everything came to a halt. The Wraithlord sat cross-legged with his fist raised, while Yuna Ji, pale-faced, struggled to support herself, unable to stand. Lord Shenyan was now completely unconscious, half his body destroyed with no sign of recovery.

I quietly watched Mona Ouyang, who stood to the side. She shook her head.

"The worst has begun."

John Chou still hovered motionless in midair. Redmond panted, letting out bursts of wild laughter, while Yvonne May had already vanished without a trace.

"Really quick to run."

The Wraithlord sat cross-legged in the air, gazing at John Chou across from him, resting his chin on one hand and smiling.

"I've told you long ago, John Chou, you're clever and strong. But if you ever face an opponent that no scheme or power can overcome, you'll die!"

John Chou didn't move. He only looked at the Wraithlord with a half-smile.

"We'll all die. Or rather, we already have."

I stared blankly at Mona Ouyang beside me. She smiled and turned her head.

The only reason we're still conscious and standing here is because of Yvonne May. But now, Yvonne herself can't hold on anymore. Earlier, when I tried to use my power to trap the Wraithlord's mind in a dream, I had already died.

I looked again toward the mountainside. Most of the Underworld Agents had already begun to leave, but the nine Guides remained, all of them watching everything inside the mountainside.

It's over. When the Ghost Sovereigns couldn't do anything, I was certain—this monster can't be defeated.

Ghostworm muttered gloomily. I looked at Zhang Hao beside me; he remained silent, his expression calm as he watched everything unfold.

We'll see it through to the end. Yvonne May will also hold on until the last moment! Come with me, Roxie.

Mona Ouyang said, and I nodded. After walking a short distance with her, she turned around and stared at me.

The final measure—we'll send you to the end point in the past.

What do you mean?

I stared at Mona Ouyang in shock. She smiled and nodded.

This is the last bit of time Yvonne May bought with her own life. As long as you reach the end point in the past, you'll be safe.

What about the others?

I asked, but immediately understood—the only life that could be saved was mine.

The Wraithlord isn't a match for Past Ethan Justice, so he won't pursue the past. Listen carefully, Roxie: no matter what happens in the future, even if it's just a few hours, everything could change drastically. This responsibility is heavy for you, but it's our last resort. Once the Wraithlord appears, the Underworld Agents, Buddhists, and Daoists will do everything they can to hold him off. Your destination is the past—put your hope at the end point in the past. One day, you'll defeat him.

I stared blankly at Mona Ouyang, unable to hold back my tears any longer.

Go to Universal Temple. Yvonne May is waiting for you there. Hurry, Roxie—there's no need to keep acting on impulse.

In the past, no one was there, right? Maybe Ethan Justice...

Mona Ouyang shook her head.

If the Wraithlord had no instincts, maybe Ethan Justice could briefly return and there might be hope. But now, there's no way. He no longer belongs to this world—the laws of reality will expel him.

I couldn't accept this method. I looked toward the mountainside, where the Wraithlord stood up. Triangular red particles surfaced on his body, then shattered like glass and turned to dust.

This immature power does pose a threat to me. But if it fails, it will never threaten me again.

At that moment, Redmond stood up, smiling faintly.

You spoke too soon, Wraithlord. Now that things have reached this point, it's time.

Redmond spoke, brushing dirt off himself. Black flames ignited once more. The Wraithlord seemed to realize something, and John Chou smiled.

Honestly, I never thought this Malice Wraith power would affect you. Back in Abyssal Hell, we fought ghost enforcers many times stronger than us—you must remember.

John Chou grinned wickedly. The Wraithlord stood motionless, as if something was wrong with his body.

We owe it to the Earthly Soul. No matter how strong you are, anything with a physical form is vulnerable to calamity.

Redmond raised a hand, and as black flames ignited, the Wraithlord left the Ghost Sovereigns. Suddenly, a small hole burst open in the Wraithlord's chest, black blood pouring out as he clutched his chest.

Blobs of black flame shot toward the Wraithlord, but were scattered before reaching him. Redmond sat down, seemingly unwilling to waste more power.

There was movement inside the Wraithlord's body. He looked at his bleeding wound in surprise.

Remember when you gave power to the Earthly Soul? Back then, you exposed something. All of this was just so your body would trigger calamity. Once that power is unleashed, you should know—even the world itself is vulnerable. Calamity is enough to destroy worlds; wherever calamity appears, problems follow. And if a world-destroying calamity emerges?
