Chapter 1006: Group Blink

These Moonlight Deer truly are something else. They’re nothing like the usual magical beasts at this level—the weak, forgettable kind. No, these are more like the strongest of their breed...

As mana surged outward, it spread across a three-hundred-meter radius. In an instant, the lingering power of the Radiant Moon Blades was swept away, and hundreds of magma fragments fused once more, forming a massive pool of molten rock.

At that moment, the three Moonlight Deer, having leapt high, landed back in the forest. Their enormous bodies hit the ground with thunderous tremors, and wherever they landed, the Ironwood Trees crumbled like piles of sand, shattered by their massive hooves into a cloud of splinters...

A surging shockwave erupted from each Moonlight Deer, spreading outward. Ironwood Trees were torn from the earth, and within dozens of meters, every tree was ripped to shreds...

This was when Leon’s risky maneuver paid off—his people each managed to engage a Moonlight Deer.

The Mage Legion and Reina took on one, Anderson, the Patchwork Golem, and Hubert tangled with another, and the last one was left to Leon himself.

The three Moonlight Deer were forcibly separated, unable to regroup, and their threat shrank dramatically in an instant.

The Mage Legion became a cloud of fire, forming a magical array that zipped through the air. They dodged the Radiant Moon Blades while unleashing fire spells to suppress the Moonlight Deer, preventing them from leaping again.

Fifty battalion mages combined their strength in formation, casting spells in groups of ten using the United Chanting Formation.

Every powerful spell was split into ten segments, each mage chanting a different part—never the same incantation as the others. Now, their chanting speed matched that of ordinary mages.

Not a single syllable overlapped between them. It’s like each mage spoke one word, piecing together a full incantation. This way, everyone expended only a little mana, but together unleashed a truly formidable spell.

The United Chanting Formation’s spells were unlike ordinary magic. Every incantation the Mage Legion used came from Leon’s teachings—how to split the words, how to coordinate, all of it a complex art.

But now, every second, seven or eight Crimson-Gold Spears—each over ten meters long—came crashing down from the sky, their power rivaling that of a top ninth-rank Title Archmage.

These piercing, single-target spells were perfect for dealing with massive magical beasts like the Moonlight Deer, and they kept the creatures suppressed.

Most importantly, Reina didn’t choose to cast spells from midair—she went straight for close combat!

Transformed into a Frost Dragon, Reina now stretched seventy or eighty meters long. As her essence evolved, her form grew sleeker, her claws sharper, and new dragon markings appeared. Every attack carried a frost effect, and her strikes could tear through shield spells with ease.

Dragons aren’t just spellcasters—they’re born for close-quarters combat. Only a handful of creatures can match a dragon’s melee prowess, and Moonlight Deer certainly aren’t among them...

Reina dove from the sky, her massive claws slashing at the Moonlight Deer. The shriek of air splitting under her attack forced the deer to focus entirely on her.

Reina’s claws tore at the Moonlight Deer’s hide, and runes flashed rapidly across its body. A layer of moonlight draped over its form, like a veil of translucent silk.

But even that faint glow—when Reina’s claws struck, it was like a knife scraping against tough leather. The moonlight flickered, but never tore.

Startled by the attack, the Moonlight Deer reared up and stomped toward Reina. Its twin hooves hit the ground, sending spiderweb cracks spreading over a hundred meters—the earth itself shuddered violently.

Frost Dragons may not be the best at close combat among their kind, but their natural melee ability still leaves Moonlight Deer—who barely have any at all—in the dust.

Yet even with frost magic, Reina was at a disadvantage. The gap between level thirty-nine and forty was massive. Reina was close to forty, but the Moonlight Deer was a pseudo-Sky Rank. The difference was still huge.

That innate gap was bridged, but the Moonlight Deer’s strength and speed still outmatched Reina. Its massive hooves sent her flying, shattering more than a dozen dragon scales...

Whenever Reina’s grip slipped, the Moonlight Deer would unleash a dozen Radiant Moon Blades skyward. Silent and terrifyingly sharp, they sliced through the fire cloud, splitting the sea of flames and severing the connection between the fifty battalion mages.

In less than twenty seconds, a battalion mage could be severed in two. Then, a few seconds later, Reina would dive back in, locking the Moonlight Deer in combat.

When those Radiant Moon Blades grazed Reina, her scales barely slowed them down—just enough to buy a moment’s breath. Without those precious seconds, she’d be torn apart by this supposedly gentle Moonlight Deer in under half a minute...

After several rounds, Reina and the Mage Legion’s eyes were tinged red—pushed to their absolute limits.

Without tight coordination among the battalion mages, their combat strength plummeted. That mass of fire elementals was the product of their pooled power.

The larger the sea of fire elementals, the stronger the Mage Legion became—their casting sped up, their spells grew more potent, and even their safety improved.

But now, a single Radiant Moon Blade from the Moonlight Deer could sever the sea of fire elementals, cutting their connection and rendering the array useless—a devastating blow.

After several interruptions, Kurum gritted his teeth and, unusually, began issuing orders through prophecy.

"Group Blink!"

A rune spilled from Kurum’s lips as a dozen Radiant Moon Blades closed in from all sides. The fifty battalion mages steeled themselves in unison.

In an instant, the sea of fire elementals surged to over two hundred meters, then thinned and spread, transforming into a massive net of flames that covered four to five hundred meters.

Kurum raised his hand, and as light flashed, all fifty battalion mages’ Dragon Scale Staffs resonated together. They vanished in a blaze, reappearing a hundred and fifty meters away—every single one accounted for.

The Group Blink succeeded. The mages couldn’t help but show excitement—it only worked when everyone was perfectly in sync. If even one person was off, none of them would make the jump.

As long as the flames stretched out, they could all blink instantly to its edge, moving as one.

And the distance they could blink was far greater than any single mage. This was their first time using it in real combat, and even in its rough form, they managed a hundred and fifty meters. With practice—and as their power grew—that distance could easily double.

In the future, the legendary Burning Legion—a thousand-strong—could sweep through a Fire Elemental Plane without a single casualty, all thanks to this Group Blink ability!

Compared to Kurum, every member of the Burning Legion had mastered Fire Elemental Avatar to perfection. A thousand mages, one Group Blink, and they could teleport dozens of kilometers through the flames—utterly unstoppable.

By risking Group Blink, the Mage Legion’s formation wasn’t severed—they held onto their combat power. Otherwise, a bunch of low-level Title Archmages facing a level forty Moonlight Deer would be nothing but sitting ducks...

Both the Mage Legion and Reina were giving it their all, but they could only manage a stalemate.

It was a struggle, but they managed to pin down the Moonlight Deer—at least for now. But this deadlock couldn’t last much longer.

On the other side, Hubert, Anderson, and the Patchwork Golem were fighting another Moonlight Deer—and faring little better than the Mage Legion and Reina.

Anderson wielded the Arcane Wheel, following the Patchwork Golem’s lead. The Moonlight Deer’s Radiant Moon Blades carried special luminous power—anything that couldn’t fully absorb the light was cut through.

Simply put, unless it was pure darkness, anything visible could be sliced apart. Even air and water couldn’t close up quickly, and magical avatars were no exception. Anything struck by those terrifying blades lost the part that was hit—sometimes even memory and intellect suffered.

So Anderson stayed behind the Patchwork Golem, frantically casting spells with the Arcane Wheel.

The Patchwork Golem unleashed a torrent of spells, which fused with Anderson’s quad-element magic in a simple, brutal fashion. The resulting spellstorm collapsed into a pure elemental flood—a massive, multicolored stream of destructive energy, hammering the Moonlight Deer.

The Moonlight Deer roared in fury. Runes flashed across its body as Radiant Moon Blades spun out, slicing through the elemental storm and relentlessly pursuing Anderson and the Patchwork Golem.

The elemental storm was wild and unstoppable. The blades could cut through it, but couldn’t halt its force. Wherever the storm swept, everything was shredded—Ironwood Trees turned to dust and were swept skyward by the raging winds.
