The Death of Thomas Jia

1/19/2026

Evan Chu was shocked by the power of his latest attack. Star-Cleave combined with the Unicorn Arm was truly defiant of the heavens. But he couldn't tell if he had actually killed Thomas Jia—inside the massive crater, smoke and dust blotted out everything.

After a moment, a sudden ripple came from the crater, and Thomas Jia's figure shot up from the pit. His body was covered in bone-deep wounds, blood pouring out nonstop—he was clearly badly hurt, and even his monstrous recovery couldn't heal these injuries.

“Heh, your life is pretty tough, huh? Even that didn’t kill you. How do you feel—want me to give you another round?” Evan Chu laughed.

“Kid, your strength really is impressive. I’ve never bowed to anyone, but this time I’ll admit defeat. If you hadn’t killed my son, maybe I’d have followed you to conquer the world. But the hatred of a slain son is irreconcilable—today, even if I die, I’ll take your life!” Thomas Jia roared.

Evan glanced at Thomas Jia’s twisted, ferocious face and knew this guy must have a terrifying martial art like the Ghost King’s—a technique that costs your own life and is only used in desperation. Now, knowing he can’t survive, Thomas Jia is ready to trade his life for Evan’s.

But Evan wasn’t worried about his deadly martial art. With Tom Chu and Jade Chu, two freakish existences, backing him up, he had nothing to fear. So he said to Thomas Jia, “You’re not even qualified. The Ghost King said the same thing and used the Ten Thousand Ghosts Devour the Soul in the end, but I still killed him.”

You think your martial art is stronger than the Ghost King’s Ten Thousand Ghosts Devour the Soul? The Beast King’s Nether Dragon form was fierce, but he ended up erased body and soul. You think you can compare to the Beast King?”

Hearing Evan say this, Thomas Jia’s whole body trembled. He was utterly shocked—Beast King and Ghost King were top-level powerhouses. Sure, he could kill either one in a fair fight, but not as easily as this kid claimed. If anyone else said this, he’d call it a lie.

But Evan’s display of strength made him believe it completely. At this moment, he truly felt the sense of crisis—despair flooded his heart.

This was exactly the effect Evan wanted: crushing his opponent psychologically. The disbelief and panic on Thomas Jia’s face said it all.

At this moment, the heads of several clans battling Sean Xiao also felt a surge of despair. Facing such terrifying strength, surviving was nearly impossible. Even Thomas Jia, Skyspear City's top expert, was no match—so how could they hope to win? The middle-aged man before them wasn’t as strong as the youth, but he was still a nightmare to deal with. If that kid killed Thomas Jia, anyone could guess what would happen next.

So none of them hesitated; they all unleashed their strongest attacks. Instantly, energy storms erupted in the sky, blasting everywhere and filling the air with terror. Sean Xiao, meanwhile, was struggling. “Damn it, Evan, why are you still taking your sweet time? These guys are going all out—I’m not sure I can hold them off!”

Evan had no idea Sean was complaining, but the massive energy storm in the sky made him realize he had to finish Thomas Jia quickly—otherwise, Sean would be in danger.

“If you’ve got a trump card, show it! Let me see just how strong your martial art really is—don’t say I didn’t give you a chance!” Evan shouted at Thomas Jia.

Thomas Jia was already prepared to die. Evan’s words stabbed into his heart like a blade—he had to pull it out, even if it killed him.

He moved, and his golden longsword instantly erupted with a three-meter sword-qi. Soon, the sword-qi covered his body—just like his first attack on Evan. The only difference: his golden sword was slowly disappearing, as if it were melting into his body bit by bit.

“What kind of martial art is this? Seriously, this is insane!” Evan asked Luna, his Sword Spirit.

“This is a life-bound martial art. Thomas Jia really is something—he can resonate with his sword, or you could say he himself is a sword. In my world, he’d be called a sword cultivator. Once someone like him reaches a certain realm, their explosive power is terrifying—capable of destroying the world itself,” Luna explained.

“That strong? How do I beat him? Is it even more dangerous than the Ghost King’s Ten Thousand Ghosts Devour the Soul?” Evan asked worriedly.

“You can only break it with an even stronger attack. Not even the barriers set by Tom Chu and Jade Chu can fully block it. Once this martial art is unleashed, death is guaranteed—it burns life to boost power, and it’s all sword-qi. With your current strength, breaking it head-on will be very difficult,” Luna replied.

Evan frowned slightly. "If only I could activate my bloodline power... but chances like that are rare. Maybe I should just teleport away—why bother clashing head-on with his attack?"

"It's not totally impossible to block it. If you unleash Star-Cleave and I deploy the Immortal-Slaying Sword Array, we should be able to withstand it—but our timing has to be perfect. When I trap his golden sword-qi with the array, you smash it with Star-Cleave. Only then can we truly defeat him, and the result will be death," Luna said.

"Alright, I understand! I’ll leave it to you, Big Sis Luna." Evan said. As soon as he finished speaking, a flash of white light appeared—Luna manifested before him, her ethereal beauty making Evan’s heart skip a beat.

By now, Thomas Jia had completely fused into a giant golden sword. Its dazzling light flashed in the air, almost blinding, and a destructive aura filled the atmosphere.

Just then, the golden giant sword shot toward Evan. Luna’s longsword instantly transformed into ten massive blades that appeared above Evan’s head, their hazy sword-qi forming a barrier around him.

The golden giant sword plunged into the midst of Luna’s blades, pinned in place as if nailed down. At that instant, Evan triggered Star-Cleave, unleashing a massive attack on the golden sword.

With a thunderous boom, Luna’s giant swords struck the golden sword in unison. Wild energy blasted through the sky, scattering everywhere—the golden sword was shattered, and metal-element particles instantly filled the air.

Under this overwhelming force, Thomas Jia was killed outright—a result he never could have imagined. Luna, however, was left extremely weak; deploying the Immortal-Slaying Sword Array consumed so much energy that her current soul form could barely handle it.

Just then, Sean Xiao let out a furious roar—a giant sword was stabbing straight toward his chest! (Author’s note: From now until May 30, I can only update three chapters daily to stockpile for all platforms. Please forgive me, dear readers; I promise a big burst of updates soon!)
