An Earth-Shattering Sword

1/19/2026

Evan Chu was secretly shocked when he saw Thomas Jia dodge his attack. As expected, Thomas's strength was insane, especially his reaction speed—he was even faster than the Beast King!

"Heh, how does that feel? You actually dodged my sword—looks like I’ll have to play with you for real today. So you were hiding your true power, huh? If I’m not wrong, you’re at peak Fifth-Layer Venerable, aren’t you? But you’re still not my match. Everyone here only has one ending—death!"

The other Skyspear City patriarchs were furious too. None of them expected this youth to be so outrageously strong. Weapons drawn, they prepared to join forces and slaughter Evan Chu and Sean Xiao.

"Sean, play with them for a bit. I’ll join you soon!" Evan Chu sent a secret voice transmission to Sean Xiao, while his Chaos Dragon Force roared inside him. Thomas Jia’s power was no weaker than the Ghost King—if he wanted to kill him, he’d have to go all out, including using the lightning element in space for an attack.

Evan Chu split his focus—gathering lightning element with one hand, circulating Chaos Dragon Force with the other, preparing to test Thomas Jia’s strength with Star-Cleave. If things got bad, he’d have to use the Unicorn Arm. Too bad his realm wasn’t high enough to unleash Divine-Slay, that terrifying martial art; otherwise, one move could finish this.

"Kid, you really are impressive. You saw through my real strength. If we became friends, maybe we could rule the Netherworld together one day. But you killed my son, so now it’s a fight to the death!" Thomas Jia roared.

The wound on his back from the gold-element sword qi healed instantly—his recovery was just as freakish as Evan Chu’s. Definitely a tough opponent. "You talk too much. If you want to kill me, show me what you’ve really got. If you’re just relying on that broken domain, forget it—your domain’s useless against me."

Evan Chu grinned at his opponent, but inside he grew even more cautious. He whipped out the Frostbane Sword from his storage ring and flashed forward, unleashing Star-Cleave. But he held back the lightning element—he needed to gather even more before launching that attack.

"Good!" Thomas Jia snarled, swinging his golden greatsword with all his might. Golden sword qi slashed toward Evan Chu. Both attacks were insanely powerful—space was flooded with wild energy, and countless gusts whipped up massive tornadoes in the air. For a moment, the heavens and earth changed color like the end of the world.

Boom! The energy clash thundered across the land. A towering mountain was flattened in an instant, and the ground split into countless deep, winding cracks—each several meters wide and bottomless as far as the eye could see.

Both of them were blasted hundreds of meters away by the massive energy, only stopping after tumbling through the air. Evan Chu’s chest heaved—he forced down a mouthful of blood, and once again realized just how terrifying a peak Fifth-Layer Venerable truly was.

Looks like my current defense and strength can only handle early Fifth-Layer Venerables. Mid-stage is already a struggle. I’ve gotta get stronger... The Human King and Nether Monarch Ming are probably even scarier. I really underestimated them, huh? Evan muttered to himself.

"Good that you know your limits, Linfeng. Killing someone at this level takes luck too. You’ve got way too many secrets—enough to catch anyone off guard. But after this, don’t hold back your strength, or you’ll regret it." Luna, the Sword Spirit, advised.

"Yeah, I know. This fight’s gonna be brutal. If only I could break through one or two more realms..." Evan Chu gave a bitter smile.

Meanwhile, Sean Xiao was already brawling with the other patriarchs. He was a Fourth-Layer Venerable, but his opponents weren’t weak either. Sean was feeling the pressure, but for now, his life wasn’t in danger.

Thomas Jia’s blood and qi surged inside him, shocked by Evan Chu’s attack. To have that kind of power at such a young age—he’d never seen anything like it. Maybe no one in tens of thousands of years of Netherworld history had ever been so monstrous. If someone like this matured, he’d be a true overlord. No matter the cost, Thomas had to kill him.

"Kid, you’re way stronger than I imagined. Give you ten more years and nobody in the Netherworld could beat you. But I’m not letting that happen—take another sword!" Thomas Jia shouted.

The golden longsword in his hand blazed even brighter, slowly wrapping him in a cocoon of gold light. Right now, he looked like a golden armored war god—majestic and terrifying.

Evan Chu could tell Thomas was powering up some insanely tyrannical martial technique—probably his strongest move. If he wanted to deal real damage, he’d have to disrupt it before the technique was fully unleashed.

This was his chance—Evan Chu had to seize it. He instantly activated the Unicorn Arm, flooding his right arm with Chaos Dragon Force. At the same time, he positioned the lightning element right above Thomas Jia’s head.

With a thought, a lightning bolt as thick as a water bucket exploded out of the sky. It was so fast Thomas Jia couldn’t react at all—before he knew it, the lightning slammed into him, wrapping his whole body in crackling electricity. Mixed with his golden aura, the sight was downright eerie.

"Agh!" Thomas Jia screamed—the sudden lightning made his body feel like it was falling apart, pain flooding every nerve. Even with his Fifth-Layer Venerable strength, he was hammered down into the earth, buried deep in the ground.

Right then, Evan Chu looked just like a battle god. He teleported instantly, appearing beside Thomas Jia as he crashed into the ground, and unleashed Star-Cleave at point-blank range.

The Unicorn-Arm-boosted Star-Cleave couldn’t destroy heaven and earth, but its power was absolutely terrifying. The ground shook like an earthquake, and a bottomless pit hundreds of li wide opened up—so deep you could see magma glowing far below.

The shockwaves truly made the world tremble. Sean Xiao and the others fighting in the air were stunned by the destruction—everyone froze, staring at Evan Chu standing on the ground below...
