He Must Have Been Comforted by You

"Princess, what brings you here?" Jason Zhuo asked coolly.

"Heard you were off today and back home, so I just had to come see you!" Olivia said with a grin.

"Uh...well." Grace said awkwardly, interrupting them. "You two talk, I'll go wander over there. Wow, the sunshine is gorgeous today..."

Jason Zhuo looked a bit helpless. Watching Grace walk away, he turned to Princess Olivia Gu and asked, "I made myself clear last time, Princess. Is there something else you need?"

"I just wanted to tell you... I believe in you," Princess Olivia Gu said, looking at him.

But Jason just shrugged, "Do you always trust people so easily, Princess? We're not even close, you know."

"Nope," Olivia shook her head. "You saved me, even knowing exactly who I was, and you just walked away without even leaving your name or wanting anything in return. Someone like you would never steal army supplies, right?"

Jason Zhuo's face was expressionless. "Princess, you can never really know someone's heart. I'm not the one for you. Please, don't ask about me again. Goodbye."

With that, he spun around and strode off.

"Jason Zhuo!" Princess Olivia Gu called out.

Jason Zhuo stopped in his tracks.

"Even if you don't like me, you said you don't hate me either!" Olivia blocked his way. "Can't you at least give liking me a shot? Don't keep shutting me out, okay?"

Jason Zhuo looked at her delicate, flower-like face, paused for a moment, and tried to walk around her.

Princess Olivia Gu blocked his path. "I know what you're worried about. I told you, I can give up being a princess. I can go to my brother and ask to be made a commoner..."

"Don't be ridiculous!"

"I'm not joking! I mean it!" Olivia's eyes were as honest as ever.

Jason Zhuo took a deep breath. "Princess, I may be the Prime Minister's adopted son, but he has always treated me as his own. If I had feelings for you, my father would support it."

Princess Olivia Gu's eyes instantly lit up, sparkling like starlight.

"The reason I refuse you, Princess, isn't because of our difference in status. It's because I simply have no feelings for you! I hope you can let me go." Jason Zhuo said each word clearly and firmly.

This time, Princess Olivia Gu was truly crushed. Her eyes dimmed, and she looked at him, lost.

Jason Zhuo turned his head, said nothing, and strode away.

He practically sped off.

...

Grace saw from afar that Jason Zhuo had left, and came over to Princess Olivia Gu.

She looked terrible, teary-eyed and completely shattered...

"Princess..." Grace called out with a frown. "Are you alright?"

Princess Olivia Gu shook her head, two tears falling as she gave a self-deprecating smile. "I thought he was the one who needed comfort, so I came to cheer him up. Turns out, I was just being nosy..."

"No! I bet you did comfort him," Grace said. "He's probably been mocked and looked down on by everyone. Suddenly a beautiful princess comes to tell him she believes in him—of course he's moved!"

Princess Olivia Gu shook her head sadly. "You know what? He just told me the reason he rejected me wasn't because of our status, but simply because... he doesn't have feelings for me. He even said he hopes I'll let him go."

"He really said that?" Grace frowned.

"Yeah." Princess Olivia Gu started crying again, clearly heartbroken.

Grace couldn't stand seeing her like this, so she wrapped an arm around Olivia and said, "Princess, you know my older brother Jason—he's a total gentleman. If he didn't like a girl, he'd always let her down easy, never this blunt. So if he's being this direct..."
