Lillian Zhang’s Confession

1/19/2026

Heh, why are you looking at me like that? I was just joking with everyone. Is it strange that the Human King, usually so serious, suddenly says something like this today?

Yeah, it does feel weird, but since Evan’s back, everyone’s happy. Whatever happens tonight is just part of the fun! I don’t mind at all. If you think it’s noisy, just cover your ears! Right, everyone?

Evan stared at Princess Ivy in shock. Half a year apart and she’s gotten so bold—saying things like that in public! Guess you really can’t judge someone by their old self.

After that, Evan and the four women started eating in the room. The drinks kept flowing. Lillian Zhang tried to warn the other three to take it easy, but she ended up the drunkest of all—which shouldn’t happen at her level. Yet tonight, she was totally wasted.

There’s only one reason she’d get drunk—something’s weighing on Lillian’s mind, and it must be about Evan’s return. Now that she’s the Human King, she’s known for handling everything perfectly and always acting serious. Everyone calls her the ‘cold, glamorous queen,’ probably because of the ice-type legacy she inherited from Serena Frost.

The other three were easy—Evan just carried them to bed. But with Lillian, he couldn’t. She wasn’t his woman, and if she woke up she’d definitely blame him. So he could only help her back to her own room.

After Evan put Lillian on the bed, he didn’t linger—he was about to leave, since they’d agreed they couldn’t be together. Even though he wanted her, some things couldn’t be forced. Just as he turned to go, Lillian suddenly grabbed him, crying, ‘Evan, don’t go! Don’t go!’

Evan was instantly conflicted—this stubborn girl was really testing his self-control. ‘Lillian, are you okay? Let go, I really have to go. Or should I call a maid to look after you?’

‘Evan, I’m not drunk. I swear, I’ve just been pretending—I can’t lie to myself anymore. Since you left, I’ve thought about you every moment. I even wanted to go to the Death-Tower Grounds to find you, but I had too many responsibilities as Human King. I want to be your woman, just like Ivy and Faye—even if it’s only for one day, I’m willing.’ Lillian sat up, her face serious and determined.

Evan was stunned. So she really wasn’t drunk—the whole act was just a setup? Was she confessing to him, or just rambling because of the alcohol? He had no idea what to do.

Lillian, you’re drunk. Get some rest. I understand how you feel, but I’ll be leaving the Netherworld soon. I really don’t want another woman to end up alone because of me—it’s too much pain, and I can’t hurt you like that.

Honestly, he really wanted to take her right then and there. But Princess Ivy’s words earlier stuck with him—he couldn’t keep making the same mistake. Even if Luna would allow it, he couldn’t let himself do it. He forced down his desire, planning to find Roxy and the other two later to let off some steam.

Evan, I really don’t mind! I’ve thought about this for a long time, and finally found the courage to tell you. Don’t think I’m being frivolous—I know you’re the only man I’ll ever love. I don’t want to keep suffering, so I have to face reality.

For the first time, Evan felt powerless. Lillian’s soft, watery gaze sent ripples through his heart. ‘You really won’t regret it? I can’t give you happiness—only endless pain. Are you willing to spend thousands, even tens of thousands of years that way?’

No regrets. If I regret anything, it’s not having the courage half a year ago—otherwise I’d already be your woman. If Faye and Ivy can handle it, why can’t I? My biggest wish is to have your child, and tonight is the best chance. Even if you’re not with me in the future, seeing our child would ease my pain.

Evan felt his head spinning—she wanted to have his child, something he’d never even considered. If he left, who would protect them? Who would take care of Lillian and the child? It was a tough decision.

‘Evan, what are you going to do? Will you grant her wish or just walk away? I want to hear your answer now,’ Luna said.

‘Big Sis Luna, I really don’t know what to do. If we were in the Azure Tide Ruins, I’d agree without hesitation. But here in the Netherworld, I honestly have no idea. Can you give me some advice?’ Evan clung to Luna like a drowning man grasping at a straw.

‘Evan, do you love her?’ Luna asked simply.

I don’t even know if it’s love—I just really want to be close to her. Maybe it’s her beauty, maybe it’s the secrets she carries. I can’t figure it out. Maybe I’m just too sentimental. If I do this, am I being cruel?

Do what you really want. As long as it’s something you like, even if it’s wrong, you should still do it—otherwise you’ll regret it later. I’d like to stop you from taking another woman, but I’m a woman too, and I understand her pain. It’s your choice.

At that moment, a subtle change flickered across Lillian’s face, but Evan didn’t notice. When he looked again, he was stunned—she looked exactly as she had that night he’d accidentally seen her bathing: breathtakingly beautiful, so perfect it made him lose himself.

‘Lillian, you… you…’ Evan was speechless. Lillian sprang from the bed into his arms, choking back tears: ‘Evan, please, I want us to have a child together. Ever since you saw my true face, I decided I’d become your woman.’

I once swore—any man who sees my real face must either become my husband or die. For you, even if I’m stronger, I’d never harm you. That leaves only one choice: you must become my man.

I know it’s selfish, but I have to do this. Please forgive me, Evan—love me just for tonight, and give me a joyful night, okay?
