Morgan Shangguan looked up and saw Susie Yun sipping from her teacup, nodding as she said, "It tastes quite good!"
Damien Gray raised his eyebrows, took her hand and drank a sip, then frowned in distaste, "It's too sour!"
Morgan took another sip, arching her brow, "I don't think so!"
Damien looked at her suspiciously, and Morgan couldn't help but laugh. "I'm not trying to trick you, it really isn't sour. Try another sip?" she said, offering the cup to his lips.
Damien took another sip, still looking at her with doubt.
Susie Yun gave Morgan a once-over, her gaze finally settling on Morgan's stomach. "Miss, I made this tea especially sour. Do you really think it's fine?"
Morgan finally realized something was off—she usually didn't like sour things at all!
Damien reached out to check her pulse. He hadn't formally studied medicine, but years of illness had taught him much, and growing up in the Valley of Destiny meant he knew a thing or two!
Watching his frown deepen, Morgan arched her brow, "What's wrong?" It couldn't be something serious, right? She knew her own body; she'd always been healthy!
Damien frowned, "Looks like I won't be able to touch you for a long time!" His expression was less like a father-to-be and more like someone facing the end of the world.
Hearing this, Susie Yun was so happy she nearly jumped up, startling Ryan Ouyang, who quickly held her down.
Morgan touched her stomach, muttering, "The Grandmaster's Treasure really is irresistible! Even the baby can't wait to come out and fight for it!"
Damien couldn't help but shake his head. This was his doing—what did it have to do with the treasure? He glanced at Morgan and said firmly, "No more going against me, alright?"
Morgan was stunned for a moment, then frowned. "Relax, I promise the baby will be born healthy! It's just pregnancy, nothing to fuss about!"
Susie Yun and Ryan Ouyang exchanged exasperated glances. Morgan had given Susie so many tips when she was pregnant, but now she was acting so nonchalant about her own!
Damien couldn't help but frown. "Mo'er..."
Morgan glanced at him, "Just because your daughter is in my belly doesn't mean I'll give you special treatment!"
Damien chuckled, "You wouldn't want her to get hurt, would you?" Truthfully, he wasn't entirely sure it was a girl.
"I know what I'm doing. With my spiritual power protecting her, she won't get hurt!"
Hearing this, Damien didn't press the issue. Morgan always knew what she was doing and never acted recklessly, but pregnancy wasn't a joke. He'd have to be more careful from now on!
Susie Yun basked in the sun for a while, but was soon ushered back to her room by Ryan Ouyang. Before leaving, she glanced enviously at Morgan, who was still eating and drinking as she pleased. Why was Miss so free, even while pregnant?
Morgan suddenly turned to Damien and asked, "By the way, have you figured out that phrase yet?" She was, of course, referring to the one about the Grandmaster's Treasure.
Damien frowned, "You're not still thinking of treasure hunting, are you?"
Morgan abruptly stood up, her face cold. "Damien, it's just a pregnancy! If you keep this up, I might just refuse to give birth!"
Damien found it amusing and pulled her into his arms, sighing, "Mo'er, don't be so childish! Doesn't he know her little schemes? She just wants to put him in his place so he won't try to control her so much in the future!
Morgan was speechless. Her attempt to assert herself was being dismissed as childish? Clearly, dealing with someone this clever was a hassle—he saw right through everything!
Morgan sighed, "Damien, I know exactly what I'm doing. I know my body better than anyone. Trust me, I won't hurt the baby!"
Damien replied softly, "I'm more afraid you'll hurt yourself. When my mother was pregnant with me, her spiritual power disappeared completely—she was no different from an ordinary person. I'm worried your powers might be affected too. What if you run into danger?" Even though he was by her side, he wasn't willing to take that risk!
Morgan chuckled, "You have some nerve! Your mother lost her powers because you absorbed them all!"
Damien was stunned. Was that really the reason? He honestly hadn't known!
Morgan cupped Damien's face and said, "Don't worry, my situation is different from your mother's!" The Simon Family's spiritual power was too weak to nurture a demonic child, so Consort Bella Simon lost all her power. In fact, Damien himself was an underdeveloped demonic fetus—he probably still had untapped potential.
Her own spiritual power was more than enough to support the baby!
As long as her power was sufficient, nurturing the baby wouldn't drain her at all. On the contrary, her spiritual energy would actually grow—if the child absorbed enough, their development would feed even more strength back to her!
Damien hugged her tightly and whispered, "Just remember, I can lose anything, but never you!" Morgan smiled and nodded.
At that moment, Yuna Ye suddenly walked in. She seemed oblivious to the presence of the two, wandering forward as if she didn't even know where she was. Her eyes were filled with confusion and disbelief—she looked utterly stunned, clearly shaken by something.
Morgan suddenly remembered she'd asked Maxwell Jing to find Ethan Gu and comfort Yuna Ye earlier. Had Yuna seen something she shouldn't have?
Damien frowned, displeased by Yuna Ye's intrusion. From what he'd observed, Yuna had no knowledge of the things he wanted to uncover!
He'd thought Shuyang Ye cared so much for Yuna Ye that she'd know something, but now it seemed she was useless. Maybe it was time to throw her out of the Ghost King's Manor!
Meanwhile, the conflict between the Ghost Guild and the Cloud Guild was heating up. The Cloud Guild kept tripping up the Ghost Guild, constantly provoking them. Although nothing too serious had happened yet, everyone believed this was a sign that war was about to break out!
One morning, Damien woke up to find his arms empty—Morgan was gone!
