Paying a Visit

At this moment, on the outskirts of Phoenix County, General Lee finally arrived.

In fact, it wasn’t just General Lee—an entire host of rain-related deities had come. The Four Dragon Kings, water gods, wind gods, a dark mass of immortals crowded the whole hillside. Along with them were mountains of documents and records concerning rainfall.

Monkey stood at the top of the hill, surveying the spectacle before him, his brows furrowed into a deep frown.

“What’s all this about?”

Marshal Silver, standing nearby, said coolly, “It’s almost certain the Heavenly Court wasn’t behind this. Otherwise, General Lee wouldn’t have dared to come.”

“It was you who told General Lee I wouldn’t do anything to him, wasn’t it? That’s the only reason he dared show up.” As he spoke, Monkey slowly turned to look at Marshal Silver.

Marshal Silver took a deep breath, steadied himself, and replied, “With such a grand display, they’re probably worried you still won’t believe them. Clearly, they want nothing to do with anything involving you.”

Seeing this, Monkey understood and pursed his lips, saying, “They seem pretty scared. Should we take advantage of that?”

Watching Monkey’s sly grin, Marshal Silver could only sigh helplessly.

The reason for bringing General Lee here was to clear up the misunderstanding. But seeing the situation now, it seemed Monkey wouldn’t let him off so easily.

After the formal greetings, General Lee began proving the Heavenly Court’s innocence.

First, he briefly explained Heaven’s rules for rainfall to Monkey. Then, the Four Dragon Kings, water gods, and wind gods each took turns declaring their innocence. Finally, General Lee’s Skyward Legionnaires laid out the rainfall records for Monkey to review.

With so many records, how long would this take?

Monkey waved his hand, refusing to listen any further. He knew General Lee had come prepared and wouldn’t slip up here.

Instead, he pulled General Lee aside and said with friendly intent, “General Lee, we’ve known each other a long time.”

“You’re absolutely right, Great Sage. It’s been... over eight hundred years.” At this sudden show of camaraderie, General Lee shivered, sweat pouring down his face as he forced a laugh.

“I’ve saved your life a few times, you know.”

“Huh?”

“Isn’t that so?” Monkey tilted his head slightly, feigning a nostalgic look. “Back on Blossom Mountain, when you were captured—if I hadn’t told them you were useful, to stall the other demons, you’d have been killed right then.”

“Does that really count? Wasn’t it because...”
