Autumn Zheng watched Evan walk away, her expression complicated as she let out a long sigh.
She realized more and more that there was nothing she could do to stop Evan once he decided on something.
Tanya Zhan looked at Yuna Yun with a face full of surprise.
All Autumn could do was pray for him, quietly and sincerely.
Evan headed out of the campus gates.
On his way out, plenty of students gave Evan curious glances.
Evan Lin nodded.
Soon, excited whispers like "That’s Evan Lin!" swept through the crowd.
"Yo, what’s going on? Nothing serious happened, right?"
Besides, the Ancient-Martial Ma Family made the first move, sending two third-grade Pointing-to-Mystery experts. If Evan hadn’t been so strong, he’d probably already be dead by now.
"Alright, I’ll go take a shower. When you’re ready to leave, come find me."
Tanya Zhan didn’t hesitate—she floored it and the car shot off.
"Just wiped out, nothing major. Chill, I’m fine."
The Zhan Family Grand-Patriarch stepped forward, worry showing on his face.
"I’ve got stuff to deal with, so I’m bouncing. If you guys run into trouble, just hit up the Zhan Family."
Evan helped Eric Wang into Tanya Zhan’s car.
Less than ten minutes later, Yuna Yun showed up in fresh clothes, cool and elegant as ever.
"Dang, you’re out already?"
Tyler saw Evan head out and rushed after him. "Wait up, man! Spill—what actually went down?"
"Bro, you’re seriously killing me here."
Thanks to Evan’s treatment, Eric Wang was doing much better, but his body was still badly depleted and his injuries were serious. It would take time for his strength to fully recover.
He was strong, but only just entered the Pointing-to-Mystery stage.
Facing those two third-grade Pointing-to-Mystery experts from the Ancient-Martial Ma Family, it was a miracle he’d survived at all.
Yuna Yun sat in the passenger seat, pulled out her phone, opened the navigation app, and set it on the dashboard.
Evan shook his head. "Besides, I still need you to keep an eye on that giant coffin for me."
"Until I’m able to enter that giant coffin myself, I don’t want anyone else going near it."
"No worries, it’s always been there. I check in with my family every day about the coffin, and I won’t let anyone approach it easily."
Eric nodded seriously.
"Hey, what’s up? Nothing major happened, right?"
As soon as the dorm door opened, Tyler Tan and Ming Zhao were waiting inside.
Ever since Eric Wang disappeared, Tyler and Ming couldn’t focus on anything.
Seeing Eric come back, they rushed forward, faces full of concern.
"Just exhausted, nothing serious. Don’t worry about it."
After reassuring his two friends, Eric turned to Evan, wanting to stick around, but Evan was already getting ready to leave.
"I’ve got some things to handle, so I’m heading out. If you run into trouble, just call the Zhan Family."
Evan didn’t give Tyler a chance to ask anything before leaving.
If he started talking, he’d probably never shut up.
"Man, you’re leaving already?"
Tyler saw Evan heading out the door and hurried after him. "Hey, wait up! Tell me what happened, just give me the rundown!"
"You’re killing me here, seriously."
Tyler stepped outside and turned his head, but Evan was already nowhere to be seen.
"Man, this guy runs way too fast."
Tyler looked annoyed and glanced at Eric. "Where did Evan go? Why’d he leave in such a hurry?"
"He’s busy. Not everyone’s got as much free time as you."
Eric shook his head and lay back on his bed. "If you’ve got so much time, why not go chase after Senior Annie Shu instead?"
"Think a little more about your own future, man."
Hearing Eric’s words, Tyler muttered a few things, and his mood suddenly dipped.
Ever since that last incident, Tyler hadn’t really gone out of his way to find Annie Shu. He felt like they’d gotten a bit closer, but it was vague and hard to grasp.
Now, hearing Eric say that, Tyler stopped worrying about Evan and got all sentimental and moody again.
Evan left the dorm and went to see Autumn Zheng.
Autumn Zheng knew nothing about Liana Zheng’s betrayal—probably because the Zheng Family hadn’t told her, not wanting her to worry about things she didn’t need to.
"I’ve called our teachers these past few days. Both yours and mine are settled in Beijing now and living well, so you don’t need to worry."
In her office, Autumn stood up and poured Evan a glass of water, setting it in front of him.
"If anything comes up with Old Man Liu that you can’t handle, just let me know."
Evan genuinely respected Old Man Liu.
If not for Evan, that ordinary old man would’ve lived his whole life in obscurity.
Now, even though he’s getting old, at least he can enjoy his retirement.
"Evan, don’t act impulsively, no matter what you do."
Before Evan left, Autumn spoke with heartfelt concern.
Evan nodded and left the office.
Watching Evan’s departing figure, Autumn Zheng let out a complicated sigh.
She was coming to realize more and more that she couldn’t stop Evan from doing anything he set his mind to.
Even if Evan decided to go confront the top-tier Lin Family that very day.
All Autumn could do was silently pray for him.
He headed off campus.
Along the way, plenty of students glanced at Evan as he passed.
Those who knew who he was would explain to those who didn’t.
Soon, awed whispers like “So that’s Evan Lin!” rippled through the crowd.
Evan made his way through the sea of students.
At the school gate, he got into Tanya’s car.
"Let’s go back."
Tanya didn’t hesitate for a second—she floored the gas pedal and sped off.
On the way, Tanya wanted to thank Evan several times, but seeing him resting with his eyes closed in the passenger seat, she swallowed her words.
Some gratitude doesn’t need to be spoken.
Tanya resolved to get stronger, so she could help Evan whenever he needed it.
Once they got back to the Zhan Family estate, Evan asked someone to notify Yuna Yun.
Less than ten minutes later, Yuna Yun appeared before Evan, freshly changed and looking elegant.
"Are we leaving now?"
She looked at Evan, as cold as ever.
Except for when Evan first arrived at the Zhan Family and faced the Ancient-Martial Ma Family—when Yuna Yun showed a hint of worry—now that Evan was safe, her expression was as icy as ever.
"Let's go."
The two of them left, taking an off-road vehicle belonging to Zhan Family young master Zachary Zhan.
Tanya initially wanted to come along, but was refused.
Yuna Yun sat in the passenger seat, pulled out her phone, opened the navigation app, and set it on the dashboard.
"As long as you drive fast enough, we can reach the Ma Family's territory before midnight tonight."
