Totally Confused

Yuna Yun entered the destination.

Navigation map activated.

Evan Lin glanced at the direction, floored the accelerator, and the car roared to life.

They sped off down the road.

Tanya Zhan watched the car carrying Evan Lin and Yuna Yun disappear, standing there for a long time.

"Once he leaves like this, who knows when he'll be back."

The Zhan Family Grand-Patriarch stood nearby, sighing deeply: "Master Lin from Seacrest—this time, whether our Zhan Family lives or dies, it all depends on his battle with the Ancient-Martial Ma Family."

"Honestly, entrusting the entire future of the Zhan Family to him—thinking about it now, it's kind of crazy."

As the Zhan Family Grand-Patriarch spoke, a hint of anxiety flashed in his eyes.

"I believe in him."

Tanya Zhan spoke, her gaze unwavering until the car vanished at the end of the road.

"Right now, he's still just Master Lin from Seacrest, but someday he could become Master Lin of Jiangnan, or even Master Lin of all Huaxia."

"Who knows how far he'll go in the future."

Tanya Zhan murmured, then sighed softly: "The higher he stands, the further I feel from him."

"There are millions of girls in this world—who knows who will win his heart."

Tanya's loneliness was obvious in her tone, with no attempt to hide it.

The Zhan Family Grand-Patriarch gently patted her shoulder to comfort her, but when it came to words, he really couldn't bring himself to say anything.

He knew his granddaughter well—she always seemed easygoing, and had met countless talented young men over the years, but none had ever moved her heart.

The only time her heart was stirred, it was way beyond what she could handle.

"That girl must be someone truly chosen by fate."

After a long while, the Zhan Family Grand-Patriarch let out a sigh.

"Still, if we entrust the Zhan Family's fate to a young man like him—even if we end up utterly defeated—when I pass on and meet our ancestors in the Yellow Springs, at least I'll have an answer for them."

The car sped down the road.

Evan Lin drove fast, never letting up on the gas, but the car stayed smooth and steady.

Even when the road ahead was full of bumps and scattered rocks, the qi-wrapped tires crushed everything flat with ease.

Scenery outside the window blurred by at high speed.

Yuna Yun, in the passenger seat, looked a bit pale—probably unused to this kind of extreme speed and the constant pushback force.

But she stayed silent, just staring out the window ahead.

Aside from occasionally giving directions, Yuna barely said a word.

After more than three hours, when they turned onto a small road and Evan noticed Yuna's face changing several times, he finally hit the brakes.

"Get out and take a break."

Evan Lin spoke up.

Yuna Yun didn't try to act tough. She grabbed some tissues from beside the seat, yanked the car door open, ran to the roadside, and squatted down to throw up.

"If you can't handle it, just say so—there's nothing embarrassing about it for a girl."

Evan Lin leaned against the SUV door, watching Yuna Yun dry heave by the roadside. In fact, he'd noticed something was off with her long ago.

Getting carsick at that kind of speed is totally normal, especially since Yuna clearly isn't the athletic type.

Evan hadn't said anything while driving, waiting for her to admit defeat first. He didn't expect that even on the verge of throwing up, Yuna still forced herself to tough it out all the way.

Being stubborn at the wrong time really isn't smart.

"I'm fine."

Yuna dry heaved for a long time, nearly throwing up even the water in her stomach.

She wiped her mouth with a tissue, her pretty face pale and wan, but her voice was still stubborn.

"Let's go."

Yuna stood up, swaying a bit and nearly falling, but managed to steady herself just in time.

She turned to get back in the car.

"You really hate the Ma Family that much?"

Evan Lin looked at her, genuinely curious.

"Yeah."

Yuna nodded, said nothing else, opened the passenger door, got back in, buckled up, and looked ready to go to war again.

Carsickness.

Yuna vaguely remembered getting carsick when she was little.

But this time, it was mainly because Evan Lin was driving way too fast. Even knowing the car was perfectly safe, her body couldn't help but feel nauseous.

Moving forward, Evan slowed down a lot compared to before.

Every so often, he glanced at Yuna Yun curled up in the passenger seat, watching her blankly stare out the window.

From this angle, Yuna's profile was still beautiful, but compared to her usual coldness, she now looked a bit more fragile—like a little girl.

She was different from Yvonne Yun.

Yvonne Yun was the type who could banter with Evan Lin for ages, always scheming or getting schemed against, but overall pretty loyal.

Yuna Yun, on the other hand, always looked like a cold, hard-to-approach rich girl, but actually bottled everything up inside.

By late night, Evan Lin stopped the car in a nearby county town.

"Why are we stopping?"

After sitting in the car for so long, Yuna turned to Evan: "You don't have to worry about me so much. I can keep going."

"We can keep driving now."

"I'm hungry. Let's eat something and rest for the night."

Evan Lin shook his head and got out of the car without arguing.

Yuna frowned, wanting to say something, but her stomach growled and she swallowed her words.

She really was pretty hungry.

Hungry and exhausted.

After throwing up on the road, she felt completely empty inside—but since Evan didn't mention it, she stubbornly refused to admit it too.

Now, watching Evan walk off toward a roadside restaurant, Yuna sighed, and her gaze grew a little softer.

She got out of the car.

At this hour, the night market was bustling.

Evan Lin picked a barbecue stall, ordered a pile of food, handed Yuna a bottle of water, and sat down.

"Can you handle this?"

Evan glanced at her.

As soon as Yuna appeared, she caught the attention of everyone at the other tables.

The weather was a bit chilly, but it didn't stop the night market from being lively.

Tattooed guys at the next table clinked their beer bottles loudly, their voices rising as Yuna walked in.

Clearly, they were just trying to get Yuna's attention.

Cool breeze, sweat, and the sharp smell of barbecue smoke.

Yuna, so clean and elegant, really didn't fit in with the environment.

"If you can eat it, so can I."

She answered, still in her usual cold tone.

"Nice backbone."

Evan nodded, dragged over a big crate of beer, and set it on the table.

Yuna instantly froze, her icy facade cracking for the first time—she looked completely baffled.

Utterly confused.
