Refusing to Leave No Matter What
The gatekeeper saw Jasper Cheng and Cynthia Green actually heading to Dean Jade Evans's quarters and was absolutely furious.
Jasper Cheng barging in like this would surely get the gatekeeper in trouble for neglecting his duty. Fuming, the gatekeeper grabbed Jasper Cheng and Cynthia Green, one in each hand, and shoved them toward the door, cursing, "I've never seen anyone so shameless! I already said you can't enroll, can't you understand plain words? And you had that old woman pester me so you could sneak in to see Dean Jade Evans yourself. Do you people have no manners? How dare you barge into the Dean's room! Get out, now!"
Dragged toward the Academy gates, Jasper Cheng protested, "Wait, this can't be right! Where's Jade Evans!?"
"Pah!" The gatekeeper spat. "I already told you, Dean Jade Evans isn't here. Do you think everyone is as full of hot air as you? The Dean didn't even come to the Academy today. Get lost! If you don't leave, I'll get rough!"
The gatekeeper grabbed both of them and threw them out the Academy gates, tossing the old woman out after them as well.
"Try coming back again and you'll regret it!" The gatekeeper glared fiercely at Jasper Cheng. "If you sneak in here again, I'll break your legs!"
With that, the gatekeeper slammed the door shut, muttering to himself that he'd report the incident to Dean Jade Evans tomorrow. He'd recommend hiring more guards—who knew when the next lunatic would show up to cause trouble?
Jasper Cheng, kicked out, dusted off his pants and cursed his bad luck. With nowhere else to vent his anger, he started yanking Cynthia Green's hair and kicking her, using her as his punching bag.
Cynthia Green clutched her head and sobbed, not daring to fight back.
Seeing Cynthia like this, Jasper Cheng slapped her again and cursed, "Useless girl! What good are you? You can't even handle a simple task—you're driving me mad! Get lost! I don't want to see you again. Go fend for yourself!"
"Young Master, you can't blame me for this! How was I supposed to know Dean Jade Evans wouldn't come today? If she'd been here, the plan would have worked. Please don't abandon me—I'm yours for life! If you want, tomorrow I can sneak into the Dean's room and undress again. It'll work this time, I promise!" Cynthia Green clung to Jasper Cheng's leg, pleading, "I'll do anything for you, just don't cast me aside. I'm yours, always—I'll even be your ghost when I'm dead."
"Bah! Bad luck!" Jasper Cheng was unmoved by Cynthia's loyalty, yanking her ear and scolding, "Idiot! Think about it—after this mess, the Academy staff aren't fools. They'll be even more guarded now. From now on, we won't even get near Jade Evans's quarters, let alone sneak inside! It's all your fault, you stupid wench—because of you, I can't enroll. It's all your fault!"
Jasper Cheng tried to chase her off again, but Cynthia Green clung to him, refusing to leave.
After a round of begging and pleading, Cynthia Green finally convinced Jasper Cheng to let her stay as his servant.
Jasper Cheng, still bitter about his failed scheme, decided to forget his troubles by seeking out some fun and good food in the Capital.
He soon heard that the hottest restaurant in town was Suxin Pavilion, owned by Princess Mira of Chu.
