Chief Assistant Henry Shaw

1/4/2026

No wonder no one dares to mention Henry Shaw in front of Charles Yin—the mistake he made was simply too great!

Charles Yin's father is still missing, and Mrs. Yin is paralyzed from the waist down.

This mistake alone was enough for Henry Shaw to pay with his life.

But in the end, Henry Shaw didn't die—he was exiled forever.

If Wendy hadn't mustered up the courage to plead for him today, that name might have been completely erased from everyone's memory.

Cecilia Gu suddenly felt a little guilty. She had brought up the topic herself, not realizing there was so much behind it.

"Charles, I'm sorry. It's my fault," Cecilia said apologetically. "If this is really difficult for you, then..."

"It doesn't matter. If it were before, maybe I would have cared. But now, most of the company's shares are back in my hands. In the Yin family, I no longer have to care about anyone else's opinion." Charles Yin sighed softly. "He's been abroad for a long time. It's time for him to come back!"

Cecilia Gu had no idea what Henry Shaw's years abroad had been like.

But from what Charles said, it clearly hadn't been easy.

Cecilia's suspicion was finally confirmed three days later.

Three days later, the sky cleared and the sun shone brightly.

When Cecilia Gu got up and went downstairs, she saw a tall, stoic man in a black training uniform standing with his back to her on the balcony.

Just then, Wendy came over. The moment she saw Henry Shaw, she was filled with joy. "Cousin!"

The man suddenly turned around, his gaze sweeping over Cecilia's face before landing on her belly. The next moment, he realized and quickly bowed, greeting her respectfully: "I am... Henry Shaw. Greetings, Young Madam."

Cecilia's eyes widened instantly!

He's Henry Shaw?

The chief assistant?

Wendy was thrilled that Henry Shaw was really back, but she didn't go over to catch up. Instead, she kept serving Cecilia. "Young madam, breakfast is ready. Would you like to eat now?"

She had to crane her neck just to see the top of his head.

Henry Shaw must be at least two meters tall!

Not only is he tall, he's also built like a tank.

Standing next to him, Cecilia looked just like a doll next to a bear.

"You... you're Henry Shaw?" Cecilia was almost speechless.

Charles Yin's assistants are tall too, but they're all so refined...

Well, to be fair, all the assistants she's met have been the refined type.

As for the ones she hasn't met, she has no idea.

Henry Shaw was way beyond what Cecilia expected.

She thought he'd be like Alex—even if not refined, at least someone who could blend into a crowd.

But what she never expected was that Henry Shaw would be such a burly, powerful man!

Henry Shaw continued to bow his head and replied, "Yes, young madam. I have returned on the young master's orders."

Cecilia was stunned for a moment, then just nodded. "Ah, okay! He sent you here?"

"Yes, the young master told me to wait here." Henry Shaw answered with no change in expression, as if he wasn't surprised Cecilia would ask.

But Henry Shaw suddenly spoke up behind her: "The young master never used to have any weaknesses, so his enemies couldn't touch him. But now, he has a weakness. Young madam, do you know what it is?"

Cecilia stopped in her tracks, didn't turn around, and answered softly, "Are you talking about me?"

Henry Shaw replied with absolute certainty, "Yes."

Cecilia smiled gently, slowly turning to look at Henry Shaw.

Bathed in the morning sunlight, Cecilia finally saw Henry Shaw's face clearly.

Henry Shaw wasn't exactly handsome, but he had an undeniable presence.

His features were ordinary, but together they gave him a resolute, stoic presence.

Yeah, he was definitely the tough-guy type.

Men like him don't rely on looks—they rely on strength.

"You care about him a lot?" Cecilia asked with a gentle smile.

"Yes." Henry Shaw didn't deny it.

"How much do you care?" Cecilia pressed further.

"Enough to give up my life for him." Henry Shaw replied, still cold and distant.

"Even though he's kept you exiled all these years? Even though life has been... hard for you?" Cecilia's eyes landed on the scars on Henry's face, especially on his neck where his clothes couldn't hide them. There must be even more scars beneath.

What had Henry Shaw gone through these years to make his eyes so cold, so distant, and yet so wounded?

"I made a mistake, so I deserved to be punished!" Henry Shaw didn't shy away from the topic. "The young master spared my life—that's already a huge favor!"

"You don't blame him?" Cecilia raised an eyebrow.

"Why would I?" Henry Shaw shot back.

Cecilia burst out laughing. "You really are an interesting guy."

Just then, Wendy came over. The moment she saw Henry Shaw, she was filled with joy. "Cousin!"

Henry Shaw saw Wendy and his stiff expression softened a little. He nodded gently.

Even seeing his cousin only made his expression soften a bit...

Cecilia thought to herself, Henry Shaw really is quite interesting.

He didn't seem to approve of her much, or even like her...

Wendy was thrilled that Henry Shaw was really back, but she didn't go over to catch up. Instead, she kept serving Cecilia. "Young madam, breakfast is ready. Would you like to eat now?"

Cecilia nodded, took a few steps, then said, "Henry, would you like to join us for breakfast?"

"No, thank you, young madam," Henry Shaw replied stiffly.

Cecilia didn't mind and followed Wendy to the dining room.

Her breakfast was different every day, with a dedicated nutritionist in charge of all her meals.

Each meal cost no less than fifty thousand.

It's easy to imagine how precious these foods were.

Cecilia was already used to this lifestyle. As long as it was good for her baby, she never refused.

She wasn't like other women who foolishly said things like, "Instead of eating such expensive food, why not donate the money to disaster relief?"

This world is cruel.

Survival of the fittest—that's the law of nature.

It's a rule no one can change.

She's no saint—she doesn't need to put on a show.

If she wanted those vain things, she could have as much as she wanted.

But all she wanted was to live honestly.

The butler and Mrs. Zhang directed the maids to bring out the rest of the food, while Wendy carefully balanced Cecilia's meal with meat and vegetables.

Cecilia ate quickly and finished in no time.

After breakfast, Cecilia got ready to head to the film set with her bodyguards and assistants.

But before she could even leave the house, a gust of wind swept by and a figure blocked her way: "Young madam, you're pregnant. Did you tell the young master before going out?"

Cecilia heard this and immediately burst out laughing.

Henry Shaw really was interesting.

Wendy hadn't expected Henry Shaw to actually block Cecilia's way, and she got flustered. "Cousin, Young Madam is..."

Henry Shaw stubbornly insisted, "Young madam is carrying the Yin family's next heir—she can't take any risks! How did I teach you all before? If you take this job, you have to put the Yin family first! Any threat to the family must be eliminated! Wendy, take young madam back to her room to rest!"

Wendy hadn't moved yet, but Cecilia's face had already turned cold.

In this house, Henry Shaw was the first servant who dared to order her around.

He might be important to Charles Yin, but to her—not so much!

"Did Charles Yin tell you to do this?" Cecilia slowly turned, narrowing her eyes at Henry Shaw. "Looks like after all these years abroad, you still haven't learned your lesson! If it weren't for your misplaced confidence and self-importance back then, why would the brakes on that car have failed for no reason? If not for you, Charles Yin wouldn't have had to pay such a heavy price to save your life! If not for you, do you think you would've been stuck overseas for so long?"

Cecilia pressed closer with every step; Henry Shaw retreated with every step. "What? Forgot the pain after the lesson? Ready to make another mistake?"

Henry Shaw had backed up all the way to the table, with nowhere left to retreat.

Cecilia stared him down, unafraid. "You think others are holding Charles Yin back, but have you ever thought that maybe the real problem is you?"

Henry Shaw was left speechless by Cecilia's words.

Clap, clap, clap—a round of applause sounded from behind.

Cecilia turned around and saw Charles Yin walking in from outside.

Charles Yin walked over, gently patted Cecilia's head, and looked at Henry Shaw. "See? She's not some little rabbit who'll just let people bully her. She's a little mole—she bites."

"Young master." Henry Shaw instantly dropped his aggressive attitude and became meek.

Cecilia was a bit confused by the situation.

Charles Yin leaned down and kissed Cecilia on the forehead. "Henry Shaw didn't believe you were really in charge here, so I let him see for himself."

Cecilia's cheeks instantly flushed red.

What did he mean... our home... I'm in charge...

Cecilia couldn't help but shoot Charles Yin a look. "Nonsense. If there's nothing else, I'm leaving! I haven't been to the set in days. You invested so much money, so I have to keep an eye on things, right?"

"You just want to keep Rona Muir company, right?" Charles Yin saw through Cecilia's little scheme. "Henry Shaw was just testing you, but he has a point. Your belly is getting bigger, so it's not safe to run around. I'm not restricting your freedom—after the baby is born, you can do whatever you want. The weather's cold, and the set isn't as comfortable as home. I'm worried you'll catch a chill. Besides, it's almost New Year, and we need to buy things for the house. For Rona Muir, it doesn't matter where you go to relax. Why not go shopping instead? Don't be stingy—no matter how much you buy, I can afford it."
