Trying to Win Back Yina Yin

1/4/2026

At this moment, everyone was gathered together playing with clay, except for Ethan Yin and Cherry Miller.

Ryan King and Yuzhen Yin were having the most fun. They sat facing each other, each grabbing a handful, and together made a lopsided clay bowl.

"Hey, Yuzhen, your hand slipped!" Ryan King shouted, "Move it this way—ah, that's too much!"

"It was obviously you who messed up!" Yuzhen Yin retorted, refusing to back down. "Sis, you be the judge! Who's really at fault here?"

Yina Yin was steadying her half-finished clay pot and said, "Can't you two just make your own? Why do you have to do it together?"

Ryan King grinned and said, "It's more fun to make something together. Gavin Gao, you’re pretty good at this!"

Sitting across from Yina Yin, Gavin Gao chuckled, "I used to mess around with pottery when I had nothing to do, so I’ve got a bit of experience."

Leo Mo, sitting nearby, commented, "I didn’t expect Sunset Manor to have clay good enough for making pottery."

"Yeah, looks like we’ve got a new activity to try out." Theo Mo nodded, "And it’s all thanks to Cherry for bringing us the pottery tools."

Lucas Mu leaned over and asked, "Where did Cherry and Ethan go? They dropped off the tools and then disappeared."

Mason Kerr quietly played with the clay and said, "Maybe something came up?"

After speaking, he looked up in the direction Miles Gu was coming from.

Uh-oh, here he comes.

When Miles Gu saw Yina Yin, his chest suddenly felt burning hot.

It was as if he'd found a place to finally let out everything he'd been holding in.

But when he saw Yina Yin sitting with Gavin Gao, the two of them making pottery together, looking so close, that burning feeling was instantly doused with cold water.

Miles Gu felt incredibly conflicted.

Just a few days ago, he'd pointed at Yina Yin's nose, complaining she was neither masculine nor feminine, and even claimed he had a real fiancée and wanted to break off their engagement.

Has it only been a few days?

Everything changed in an instant.

Well, now the Yin family is actually granting his wish—they're breaking off the engagement!

But he realized he was already drawn to Yina Yin, unable to look away.

This was supposed to be a little perk left behind by his primary personality, but he’d just thrown it all away himself.

Miles Gu felt heavy on his feet, heavy in his mouth; everything he wanted to do, everything he wanted to say, he just couldn’t.

Yina Yin noticed Miles Gu watching her. She just nodded at him and kept her head down, busy with her own thing.

Miles Gu's heart sank even deeper.

He curled his finger, wanting to say he wanted to make pottery with Yina.

But he just couldn’t get the words out.

Gavin Gao seemed totally chill and greeted him, "Senior Gu, Sakura just sent someone to look for you. She said you weren’t feeling well. Are you okay now?"

Miles Gu’s red eyes dimmed, but he quickly calmed down, walked over to Gavin Gao, and said, "Much better. I was in a bad mood this morning and didn’t look after you. Hope you don’t mind."

Gavin Gao smiled, pretending not to know anything, and said, "No worries. People have emotions—if you're upset, just let it out and you'll feel better."

Hearing Gavin talk like that made Miles Gu even more alert inside.

Gavin Gao really was a big threat.

Especially now, since Yina Yin was really sticking up for him.

If he wanted to win Yina Yin back, he’d have to get Gavin Gao out of the way first.

"It’s nothing. I just needed some quiet." Miles Gu rolled up his sleeves and said, "I used to make pottery with Yina, too. Feels like ages ago. Let’s see if I’m still any good."

Gavin Gao didn’t really want to move, and Yina Yin didn’t either.

Mason Kerr stood up first and said, "I’m a bit thirsty, Miles, you can use my wheel."

"Thanks." Miles Gu’s eyes flashed as he sat down in Mason Kerr’s spot.

Leo and Theo Mo exchanged a look. As twins, they didn’t need words to know what the other was thinking.

Their look said: What’s up with Miles today? Yesterday he was all about defending Elisa, now he’s suddenly into Yina again?

Ryan King noticed too, but he said nothing and kept playing with clay with Yuzhen Yin.

Looks like Ethan Yin’s method worked.

Even Miles Gu’s second personality couldn’t resist Yina’s charm, and he was falling for her all over again.

Ha, when that happens, Yina will have all the power again.

Yina loves Miles, sure, but she loves his real self, not the arrogant second personality.

So right now, Miles is bound to get frustrated.

Honestly, it’s pretty fun to watch!

At lunch, Ethan Yin and Cherry Miller still hadn’t come back.

Cecilia Gu and Charles Yin weren’t around either, and Earl Field was definitely absent.

So at the table, Miles Gu was the oldest one there.

Yina Yin sat down at the table, and just as Gavin Gao was about to sit next to her, Miles Gu pulled out the chair beside Yina and sat down first.

On Yina’s other side was Mason Kerr.

So Gavin Gao had no choice but to sit diagonally across from Yina, or even farther away.

Ryan King and Leo and Theo Mo both glanced at Miles Gu, who acted totally natural, as if he’d never asked to break off the engagement with Yina.

Ryan King asked, "Where’s Elisa? Skipping lunch again?"

"She probably has something going on," Miles Gu replied casually, no sign of the nervousness or concern he’d shown for Elisa just days before.

This time, even the usually clueless Yuzhen Yin could tell something was off.

Yuzhen Yin looked hopefully at Ryan King, but Ryan had no intention of explaining and just kept watching Miles.

Lucas Mu tugged Yuzhen Yin’s sleeve, shook his head, and signaled him not to ask any more questions.

Yuzhen Yin held back for a while, but when Miles Gu got up to wash his hands, he couldn’t help blurting out, "Miles, what’s with the mixed signals? You want to break up with my sister but still sit with her?"

"Isn’t it mixed signals?" Ryan King chuckled. "Forget it, with your brain, there’s no way you’ll figure this out."

"Hey, Ryan King, who are you calling dumb!" Yuzhen Yin immediately started bickering with Ryan.

"Whoever asked is who!" Ryan King jumped up and hid behind Gavin Gao. "Senior, help me!"

Gavin Gao smiled helplessly. "Yuzhen, for my sake, don’t fight with Ryan—you’ll interrupt Yina’s meal."

Yuzhen Yin grinned at Yina Yin. "Sis, Senior is so good to you, so thoughtful."

Yina Yin just smiled and said nothing.

Miles Gu came back from washing his hands, pulled out his chair, and sat down, saying offhandedly, "Gavin, you’re really popular at our place."

Suddenly, several pairs of eyes turned toward Miles Gu.

Our place?

Heh.

You don’t even want this family anymore.

Yina Yin said, "Of course he’s popular. He’s a classmate, a friend, and a guest. Isn’t that normal?"

Hearing Yina defend Gavin again, Miles Gu felt a wave of jealousy, sour and overwhelming.

Miles Gu kept his hands clenched under the table, but still managed a smile. "True, a guest is a guest."

"Strictly speaking, in a few days, Miles will be a guest too," Ryan King couldn’t stand seeing Miles bully Gavin and said, "The next heir to the Field Family—if we meet outside, we’ll have to call him Mr. Field, right?"

Leo and Theo Mo glanced at Ryan King, then sided with him, saying, "Don’t say that. Even if Miles and Yina break off the engagement, he’s still our classmate and our senior."

Miles Gu’s face couldn’t hold its composure anymore—it changed instantly.

How did Gavin Gao manage to win everyone over in just one day?

Unbelievable.

Gavin Gao’s smile grew even softer.

He’d expected Miles to target him, but he hadn’t thought Ryan King and the twins would accept him first.

As long as Yina and the others accepted him, any amount of trouble was worth it.

"Come on, it’s just the truth. This is Sunset Manor—honestly, we’re all guests here." Gavin Gao laughed, acting like he didn’t have a care in the world. "The real host is Aunt Cecilia."

"Right, we’re all guests." Lucas Mu quickly smoothed things over. "The food’s getting cold, let’s eat."

"I’m starving," Mason Kerr chimed in. "I’ve got to keep an eye on Ryan this afternoon while he works the fields!"

"Seriously! You guys are ruthless—no brotherhood at all." Ryan King dropped the subject and joked, "With Ethan gone, I’m stuck working the fields. My life is tragic!"

"Can’t help it, you’re just meant for field work," Yina Yin laughed, moving the conversation along.

"Huh? What’s this field work thing about?" Gavin Gao, who’d just arrived, couldn’t help asking.

Then the energetic Yuzhen Yin filled Gavin in on the whole story about Mingxin and Xiaojin, and how Xiaojin thought all the boys were Cherry Miller’s kept men.

Gavin Gao couldn’t stop laughing.

"Wow, that’s hilarious! If it were me, I’d want to tease that kid too. How can someone be so innocent?" Gavin said, totally entertained. "But no wonder Ethan got mad. Cherry has a ton of admirers already, and you guys just made things harder—of course he’d scold you."

"Hey, we just got carried away," Ryan King laughed. "Senior Gao, you’ve got nothing to do this afternoon—come work the fields with me!"

"Sure!" Gavin Gao agreed right away. "I’ve never done field work before, so why not try it out?"

Miles Gu watched Gavin chatting happily with everyone, his eyes lowered as a flash of anger crossed his face.

"I’m done. Enjoy your meal." Miles Gu pushed back his chair and strode out of the dining room.

Ryan King watched Miles leave and smirked.

Second personality is just second personality—never on the same level as the real one.

Wonder how things are going with Yun Shuang.

Really hope the real Miles comes back soon and kicks this imposter out for good!
