If She Is Heartless, I Will Be Unrighteous

May Parker lounged with her legs crossed, smugly saying, "I’m threatening you—so what? Hand over the silver, or I’ll ruin your whole family. Scared yet?"

After she finished, May Parker pointed at Belle and said, "You lowly thing! Even your mistress is afraid of me, yet you still don’t know your place! Why are you just standing there? Hurry up and serve me some tea!"

Helen Parker was sitting next to May Parker, beaming with pride. She whispered, "My daughter is truly impressive—only the lady of a wealthy household could carry herself like this. My May Parker was born for a life of luxury!"

But Belle stood there unmoving, completely ignoring the two of them—she didn’t even lift her eyelids.

"Hey, you wretched girl! I told you to serve tea—are you deaf or lame?" Helen Parker screeched at Belle.

"The tea in my house isn’t for shameless people like you!" Lily Evans suddenly turned cold, and with a flick of her wrist, splashed hot tea right into May Parker and Helen Parker’s faces.

"Wow, you’re really arrogant! How dare you splash tea on us!" May Parker jumped up from her chair, storming over to hit Lily Evans.

But she forgot—this was Lily Evans’s home. Four servants immediately rushed over and tied up May Parker and Helen Parker, tossing them at Lily Evans’s feet.

Lily Evans walked over, looking down at the two of them, and slapped May Parker twice across the face.

May Parker’s eyes widened as she screamed, "Lily Evans, aren’t you afraid I’ll spill your secret vegetable-growing technique!?"

“Go ahead, tell everyone if you dare.” Lily Evans smiled sweetly as she patted May Parker’s cheek, but her gaze was as sharp as a blade. “You taught the Leo Family how to grow vegetables—what happened? You cost them tens of thousands of silver, and now they’re suing you for fraud. May Parker, you’re a wanted criminal. What makes you think you can act tough in front of me?”

May Parker’s face turned ashen. How did Lily Evans know about her failed vegetable scheme with the Leo Family?

Lily Evans waved her hand. Belle pulled a carriage axle from her sleeve, and when May Parker saw it, she couldn’t help but start trembling.

“Look familiar? Recognize what this is?” Lily Evans held the axle up to May Parker’s face, her voice icy cold. “You sabotaged my carriage, brought beggars to surround me, and shoved me off the bridge in the chaos. May Parker, you’ve got the guts to step into my house—aren’t you afraid you’ll never get out?”

May Parker hadn’t expected Lily Evans to know she was the culprit, so she stubbornly denied it. “Lily Evans, what are you talking about? I have no idea.”

“You know exactly what I’m talking about.” Lily Evans stared darkly at May Parker. “There aren’t many beggars in Greenfield City. A little silver and anyone can tell you who did what. May Parker, you fool—did you really think your plan was flawless?”

May Parker collapsed to the ground, defeated. She’d thought herself so clever, but in front of Lily Evans, her so-called perfect plan was child’s play—exposed in an instant.

Just then, four servants carried in a giant water vat. Lily Evans gripped May Parker’s chin, her gaze chilling. “Do you know what it feels like to be dunked in cold water in this weather?”

May Parker stared at Lily Evans as if she were a terrifying demon, her teeth chattering in fear. She pleaded, “Sister Lily, please forgive me! I was blinded by greed—I never meant to hurt you. I won’t dare do it again!”

Helen Parker sobbed, snot and tears streaming down her face. “Lily, you and May Parker are family—sisters! Please, let her go!”

Lily Evans sneered, “Did May Parker remember we were sisters when she tried to kill me? On that freezing day, she pushed me into the river hoping I’d die—and nearly got my husband killed too! She showed no mercy, so don’t expect any from me. Servants, dunk her in the vat!”
