"Hand over the thing? Hand over what?" Evan Yang knew exactly what the other party meant, but he wasn't foolish enough to admit that the item was on him.
"Don't play dumb. You were the last one to leave that space—don't tell me you didn't see anything." Joel Qiao snorted coldly.
The Sky Unity Sect Master, not knowing what the two were talking about, stood by curiously.
Seeing that the Sky Unity Sect Master wasn't making a move, Joel Qiao ignored him and kept his focus locked on Evan Yang.
Evan Yang smiled. "If you hadn't brought it up, I almost would've forgotten. Back then, you sure played plenty of tricks on me."
"Hmph, you were just a brat back then. Who would've thought that in less than a hundred years, you'd reach this realm? Truly a genius." When Joel Qiao first succeeded in possession, Evan Yang was the first person he tested his methods on. At the time, Evan's strength was nowhere near Joel's; if Joel hadn't just possessed the body and needed time to recover, plus was worried about interference from outsiders, he would've never left Evan behind.
Once Evan Yang's reputation exploded across the continent, Joel Qiao locked his sights back onto him, convinced that Evan was the one who possessed the spiral shell.
"So you're admitting it?" Evan Yang stared at Joel Qiao, his gaze sharp as if ready to teach him a lesson.
"Kid, you don't actually think you can beat me, do you?" Sensing Evan Yang's aura, Joel Qiao sneered.
"I was planning to hunt you down later, but since you've shown up, I won't hold back. Take this!" Evan Yang snorted coldly, then launched himself at Joel Qiao.
Joel Qiao never expected Evan Yang to fight at the drop of a hat. He was pushed back again and again, only managing to adapt after a while, then snorted, "Kid, you're dead meat."
"Go ahead and fight. In a bit, I'll finish off both of you—a genius and an old monster. Heh, looks like my haul won't be small today." The Sky Unity Sect Master, standing to the side, now saw both of them as prey in his eyes.
Evan Yang was well aware of what the Sky Unity Sect Master was thinking, so he had several strands of divine sense locked onto him already.
The rest of his divine sense was locked onto Joel Qiao.
Joel Qiao truly lived up to his reputation as an old monster. Whether in combat skill or speed, he was no worse than the Sky Unity Sect Master. But in Evan Yang's eyes, he only felt a bit of challenge, never any threat to his life.
After a few rounds, Joel Qiao stared at Evan Yang in disbelief. "You really are something—so strong already. Then today, let me show you some demonic arts."
A strange sound then came from Joel Qiao's mouth, far stronger than the demonic arts Evan Yang had encountered from Demon Sect disciples at Sky Unity Sect.
Even the Sky Unity Sect Master hurried to cover his ears, struggling to suppress himself, inwardly cursing, "This old monster—this move is really nasty."
But next, both men stared at Evan Yang in disbelief. He just stood there in midair, smiling, "Don't bother. Your demonic arts don't work on me."
"No effect? How is that possible?" Joel Qiao was stunned, and so was the Sky Unity Sect Master. But Evan Yang just stood there, as if nothing had happened.
In the end, Joel Qiao was forced to abandon the sonic demonic arts and brought out ten skeletons.
Evan Yang saw that all ten skeletons were pitch-black and looked strange. He had no idea what Joel Qiao intended, so he eyed him warily.
"Let me show you the power of Demon Sect's Ten Skeletons." Joel Qiao sneered.
The ten skeletons instantly sprang to life, each one targeting Evan Yang. Most importantly, every skeleton was just as strong as Joel Qiao himself.
What did that mean? It meant Evan Yang was facing ten opponents, each as formidable as Joel Qiao.
So right from the start, Evan Yang was forced to use the Phantom Step Art to dodge their attacks.
With multiple strands of divine sense, Evan Yang managed not to get hit easily.
"What a monster." At first, the Sky Unity Sect Master was sure Evan Yang was doomed when Joel Qiao unleashed the Ten Skeletons. But seeing how effortlessly Evan dodged and predicted their attacks, he couldn't help but mutter to himself.
Joel Qiao was stunned, then shouted angrily, "I refuse to believe I can't catch you!" The ten skeletons became even more frenzied.
Evan Yang had no choice but to launch rapid, powerful attacks while using the Phantom Step Art. At first, his tenfold attacks had a slight impact on the skeletons, but it wasn't enough.
"You're only at late-stage Spirit-Wandering. No matter how strong you are, you can't break through my skeletons." Seeing Evan Yang's wild attacks, Joel Qiao sneered, thinking Evan was out of options.
The Sky Unity Sect Master was secretly shocked. He had fought Evan Yang earlier, and sometimes Evan's attacks felt even stronger than his own. He still couldn't figure out how that was possible.
Joel Qiao, who had never seen Evan Yang unleash twentyfold attacks, kept controlling the ten skeletons, trying to kill him.
"Here it comes." Evan Yang smiled. That smile startled Joel Qiao, and in the next instant, one skeleton was already shattered to bits.
"Impossible!" Joel Qiao was confident in his skeletons—they shouldn't be destroyed so easily by someone at late-stage Spirit-Wandering.
Evan Yang paid him no mind and kept up his frenzied attacks. Joel Qiao stared intently, trying to figure out how Evan managed it.
But Evan Yang kept attacking simply—one step, he flashed beside another skeleton, struck, then changed direction. He repeated this again and again, until the second skeleton exploded. Joel Qiao, unable to see what technique Evan was using, grew furious. "Damn it!"
Next, Evan Yang destroyed the remaining skeletons one by one. When Joel Qiao was left with just five, he hurriedly withdrew them and stepped aside, his face a mix of shock and fury as he stared at Evan. "Kid, how did you do it?"
The Sky Unity Sect Master was also curious, wanting to know how Evan Yang managed to multiply his power several times over.
Of course, Evan Yang wouldn't tell them. He just said to Joel Qiao, "You gave up so soon? I wasn't done playing yet!"
