Deterrence (Part Two)

1/11/2026

The master of the eerie voice and the purple-haired elder are both actual rulers of the Mory Sector. In fact, throughout the entire Mory Sector, there are at least two hundred figures at this level—most of them harboring resistance and reluctance, unwilling to see an inspector envoy arrive, having held power for far too long.

Even if they resent it, their resistance is mild; the vast majority of actual powerholders care more about their own cultivation and realm.

Fame and power—these are fleeting as clouds.

In the face of eternal life, interests can be set aside for now.

Moreover, the cost of offending the Law-Enforcement Pavilion is immense—grave and excruciating. Even those who have stepped into the Cosmic Eternal Realm must submit; they cannot resist the Pavilion, nor escape its warrants and pursuit.

So when word spread that an inspector envoy was parachuting in, many powerholders simply shut their doors and focused on secluded cultivation, avoiding offense altogether.

However—

There are always exceptions. The purple-haired elder Aaron Yi and the master of the eerie voice are two such exceptions—both are in the Cosmic Eternal Realm.

"We absolutely cannot lose our positions."

Aaron Yi’s hundred-meter-long beard coils with mesmerizing flames: "We struggled through countless hardships to barely reach the Cosmic Eternal Realm. We’re just barely considered newcomers to this realm—how could we not crave greater strength? Those planetary mines, once refined and processed a hundred ways, become cultivation resources."

It sounds simple and easy.

But refining and repeated processing—every step demands enormous material and financial resources. Beyond that, there are countless procedures; when all the steps are combined, the final product is cultivation resources.

"Hmph."

A flicker of contempt flashes in the purple-haired elder’s eyes.

Those fantastical articles circulating through the starry sky mostly imagine cultivation resources as heavenly treasures—rare natural wonders born of cosmic evolution. That’s pure wishful thinking, utter nonsense. Nowadays, starry sky technology has reached its peak; material synthesis is child’s play, far surpassing natural substances.

Medicinal herbs or fruits with miraculous effects, naturally born in the universe—these things don’t make the cut.

So what are cultivation resources, really?

The right natural design, combined with ingenious, cutting-edge technology—neither can be lacking. Fuse the two, and you get mass-produced cultivation resources. Of course, there are also artificially created resources, but those can’t be mass-produced and never become mainstream in the starry sky.

Therefore—

In the end, it all comes down to cultivation resources. Aaron Yi said coldly, "I’ll ask Brunelle about the situation over there. If this inspector envoy is dead set on auditing and causing trouble, we must prepare in advance."

"Ask her, quickly."

A hint of urgency crept into the eerie voice.

They have plenty of countermeasures. As long as they know themselves and their enemy, there will always be a foolproof plan.

"Mm..."

Just as Aaron Yi was about to nod—

Ding-dong!

A notification for an unread message—the sender was Brunelle.

"Look, a message." Aaron Yi stroked his hundred-meter beard, just showing a contented smile, when another unread message notification sounded—again from Brunelle.

Ding-dong!

A third unread message—three in a row, unusually urgent.

"Strange."

"Brunelle is usually calm, never hurried or impatient—what’s happened?" Aaron Yi’s eyelid twitched involuntarily, a sense of unease rising.

Something’s off.

He hurriedly opened all three messages, frowning as he read.

‘The inspector has arrived!’

‘Void Rift tier! It’s actually Void Rift!’

After reading the first two messages, Aaron Yi was grinning so hard his eyes nearly closed; his hundred-meter beard fluttered in delight. He grabbed his beard, exhaled in relief, and cheerfully turned to the third message.

‘It’s the Fierce King Andrew Han from the Archaic Hall!!’

Brunelle marked her last message in blood-red.

His smile froze...

Contentment was out of reach...

Aaron Yi’s face changed dramatically in fright. His hand clenched unconsciously, snapping dozens of flaming beard hairs. His heart surged with shock, as if a heavy mountain crashed down on his soul.

His whole body and mind felt weighed down.

"What’s wrong?"

The eerie voice sounded again.

Aaron Yi raised his head, voice trembling: "It’s that Andrew Han—the one who single-handedly toppled two Light Clan Heavenly Kings and slaughtered three hundred Primevals!"

"Hiss!"

The master of the eerie voice finally appeared—a white-haired old woman, her milky eyes filled with shock and disbelief.

Both were Cosmic Eternal Realm experts.

Recently, Andrew Han’s name has spread across the starry sky; most powerhouses of every major race have heard of him. In the Moyu Star Region, in the Ancient Universal Kingdom, the frequency of discussing Andrew Han far exceeds that of other ancient kingdoms.

"Th-this, what do we do now?" Aaron Yi’s heart sank halfway.

The eerie woman quickly shook her head: "Since Andrew Han himself has come, I’ll take my leave first... If he investigates and finds us guilty, so be it; admit everything. After all, it’s not serious enough to warrant death."

As soon as she finished speaking—

Her image vanished, disconnecting from the interstellar network.

Not even a hint of hesitation—this chilled Aaron Yi to the bone. Just a name could terrify someone so deeply? Invisible intimidation is the deadliest kind!

Gulp.

Aaron Yi’s Adam’s apple bobbed, his face shifting through emotions, eyes flickering.

——

At the same moment, in the Law-Enforcement Pavilion branch, everyone was gathered in the conference hall.

The vast room was arranged with a long table. The intelligent table came with glass chairs, automatically activated; the chairs slid out slowly from within the table. Andrew Han, without hesitation, sat at the head of the table.

On orders here, as inspector envoy, there was no need to feign friendliness—besides, Andrew Han wasn’t used to it.

"Take your seats."

Andrew Han smiled lightly, speaking in a calm tone.

The long table was about a hundred meters wide and ten thousand meters long. Everyone present was at least Void Rift tier, so distance was no concern.

Upon Andrew Han’s cue, everyone obediently took their seats, sitting upright and serious. A few even took out notebooks and other tech gadgets, as if preparing to take notes.

Including the original chief inspector, Brunelle.

She wore a black veil, her face calm, showing a hint of respect.

Andrew Han glanced at Brunelle, casually flipping through the Star Gate communicator, and asked offhandedly, "Are there many serious crimes in the Moyu Star Region?"

"Not many."

Brunelle answered softly.

(Irrelevant passage skipped.)

Serious crimes refer to extremely grave acts, such as slaughtering entire star systems or wantonly destroying planetary territories.

Dong dong.

Andrew Han tapped the surface of the long table, as if knocking on everyone’s hearts. The empty conference room was eerily quiet.

No one spoke up casually.

"Brunelle."

Andrew Han leaned back in his glass chair, sighed, his gaze tinged with pity: "I sentence you to serve three million epochs in the Star Prison. Do you accept?"

Brunelle’s face changed slightly. She suppressed her anger, lowered her head, and asked quietly, "The inspector’s authority supersedes everyone. How could I dare refuse? Of those present, who would dare refuse? I just ask that Your Excellency Inspector not make such jokes..."

"Who has time to joke with you." Andrew Han tossed out a stack of papers, black ink on white sheets—all anonymous accusations. "More than three hundred letters point to you. No need to explain; sign first."

In an instant, Brunelle’s expression shifted, finally turning deathly pale.

This wasn’t just a show of force—it was clear headquarters had long intended to investigate her.

"Impossible!"

Brunelle stood up, her veil falling away. She grabbed the stack of papers, then tossed them aside, her pupils contracting as she scanned all the accusations in a blink.

Who reported me?

Someone was out to get her.

"Sign it."

Andrew Han flicked his finger, returning all the papers to Brunelle: "You once wiped out twenty-five star systems just to monopolize rare energy mines, secretly approved governors to raise taxes, murdered two standard geniuses—too much to list. I won’t bother explaining."

Brunelle’s spirit sank bit by bit.

She’d planned to resign as chief inspector in a few years and head to the borderlands of the Human Territory, living as a wanderer.

Beside her—

The others were all stunned.

No one expected Andrew Han to act so decisively, overturning the table and giving Brunelle no chance to recover. Of course, most weren’t aware of Brunelle’s deeds; their eyes were wide with disbelief.

"Your Excellency Inspector."

Brunelle’s voice turned hoarse: "I’m willing to sign everything—please show leniency."

Everyone gasped in unison; some shifted uneasily, others were too shocked for words. A true Cosmic Eternal Realm expert, an immortal powerhouse—Brunelle didn’t resist at all.

Andrew Han said quietly, "I’d like to show leniency, but you just sent over a hundred warning messages..."
