I Think You're a Fake

Princess Mingyu looked down on Su Li with pure disdain, not even bothering to speak to her directly.

Lv Luo supported Princess Mingyu and scolded Su Li, "Village woman, are you deaf? The person in front of you is the noble Princess Mingyu! How dare you, a mere village girl, not kneel before her? Are you looking for death!?"

Su Li's eyes were icy cold as she stared at Princess Mingyu, seeing nothing but mockery in her gaze.

Bailu was stunned. She gently tugged on Su Li's sleeve, her voice trembling, "Madam, what's going on? Who's this Princess Mingyu? I've never heard of her. Why would a princess come all the way to our doorstep? This is so strange."

No sooner had Bailu spoken than Lv Luo shot her a fierce glare and scolded, "You, a lowly maid, and you, a village girl, dare to whisper in front of the princess? Such disrespect! Guards, bring these two unruly village women over and slap each of them fifty times to teach them manners!"

Lv Luo glared fiercely, looking very imposing.

"Who dares!" Su Li glared coldly at Princess Mingyu. "Who is this nonsense woman? You claim to be Princess Mingyu, but I've never heard of any Princess Mingyu in our Great Jin Empire. You might be a fraud who just popped up out of nowhere, a charlatan."

Bailu quickly caught on and added, "Right, right, I've never heard of any Princess Mingyu either. These days, there are so many tricksters outside. Just last month, a family in the neighboring village was scammed out of two taels of silver by a fake monk. Who knows if this is another gang of scammers, this time pretending to be a princess."

"Exactly! This spring, the lean season, is when robbers and scammers are most active. Didn't our village just have someone kidnapped by bandits a few days ago? Maybe the bandits couldn't get through our defenses, so they changed tactics and pretended to be a princess to swindle money." Su Li looked at Bailu with satisfaction; this girl was smart!

Su Li and Bailu exchanged words, clearly treating Princess Mingyu and Lv Luo as frauds, without any respect for their claimed royal status.

Princess Mingyu and Lv Luo, unfamiliar with this turn of events, were stunned. What was going on? Shouldn't these village women be trembling and kowtowing the moment they knew she was a princess? Yet they not only refused to kneel but also questioned her identity. It was utterly baffling!

Princess Mingyu was caught off guard by Su Li's words, her mind led astray. She forgot her plan to intimidate Su Li and was left only with one thought: to prove she was truly a princess and not a bandit impostor.

Princess Mingyu said anxiously, "I am the princess of the Kingdom of Chu. You ignorant country bumpkins have never heard of me because of your limited knowledge. Kneel down at once!"

Su Li sized up Princess Mingyu from head to toe, then turned to Bailu and said, "Tsk tsk, today's scammers are really convincing. Choosing the identity of a Chu Kingdom princess, they clearly think we common folk know nothing about Chu!"

Bailu also looked Princess Mingyu up and down like she was picking chickens at a market: "Exactly! Chu is so far away, why would a real Chu princess waste her time showing off in this poor, remote village? I bet she's just a fraud!"
