"No way, where did these annoying things come from? They’ve got us completely surrounded!" Luna Chu exclaimed as she saw the Blood Ravens filling the sky around them.
"Claire, you’re in charge of protecting Luna. Selena, you protect Skylar. Unless it’s absolutely critical, you can’t reveal your demonic aura," Evan Chu ordered decisively.
Even Evan Chu felt a headache facing thousands of Blood Ravens. He wasn’t afraid of them—Goldwing had said their blood poison was nasty, but it only worked if you had open wounds.
His own defense was enough to ignore it, and with his recovery abilities, even if he got hurt, the wounds would heal in no time. The only ones he truly worried about were Luna Chu and Skylar Yule.
Slaughtering so many Blood Ravens was extremely difficult—even with Evan’s strong defenses, it would take a lot of time. Unless he found a way to kill them quickly, there was no telling when it would end.
After surveying the Blood Ravens around them, Evan said, "Everyone, watch out for yourselves. These birds can’t hurt me at all—let me carve a bloody path, then you all charge through!"
With that, Evan summoned the rust-covered Frostbane Sword. He remembered the Sword Spirit saying that true Fireshift wasn’t just about flinging fire—it had to be fused into martial techniques, and any technique could be infused.
Right now, he wanted to test if Fireshift could be merged into the Windchaser Sword Art. With his current strength, one move could wipe out a huge swath of enemies—these Blood Ravens were perfect for a test run. If Selena and the others found out he was using the flock for practice, he had no idea what they’d think.
With a thought, the Frostbane Sword was instantly coated in fire element. Evan didn’t need to gather energy—he just willed it, and it appeared. The sheer speed stunned Claire and Selena.
Evan charged forward, unleashing Wrathful Wind Annihilation Slash. Countless wind blades wrapped in blazing sword-qi tore into the black mass of Blood Ravens ahead.
With this strike, Evan felt the surrounding space visibly tremble. The result made him genuinely happy—this one move had killed over a hundred Blood Ravens.
At this rate, if he could unleash Wrathful Wind Annihilation Slash a hundred times, he could wipe these things out completely.
Seeing how well it worked the first time, Evan dove straight into the Blood Raven swarm, unleashing that devastating strike over and over.
But the real killing power wasn’t just the sword-qi—it was the fire. Whenever Evan’s flaming sword-qi struck a Blood Raven, the bird ignited and burned to ash almost instantly.
Blood Ravens weren’t that big—their wingspans were just a bit over two meters—so Evan found them easy to kill.
As Evan attacked, the Blood Ravens fought back, swarming not just him but also Selena, Claire, and Goldwing.
But none of them even got close—Selena and Claire cut them down before they could reach the group. With Divine Martial Realm strength, the two women were more than a match, so Evan didn’t have to worry about their safety at all.
Evan was on a roll—he’d already slaughtered several hundred Blood Ravens, and the air was thick with the smell of burning. Just as he was thinking these birds weren’t so tough after all...
Suddenly, sharp cries rang out from within the flock. The Blood Ravens began to spread out, dodging rapidly every time Evan launched a technique.
Even scarier, quite a few Blood Ravens started diving straight at Evan, suicidally crashing into him and exploding less than two meters away.
The force of the explosions was intense—Evan felt like he’d been punched hard. It didn’t actually hurt him, but it stung a bit.
Even worse, every explosion filled the air with thick blood mist. Evan recognized it immediately—this was the Blood Ravens’ infamous blood poison. So this was their true terror. With a thought, he instantly activated Earthshift.
His body was instantly covered in a thick layer of stone plates, turning him into a stone man. The others naturally saw the transformation—Luna Chu and Skylar Yule were especially shocked.
"Everyone be careful! The blood mist from these exploding Blood Ravens is that terrifying blood poison—don’t let it touch you!" Evan shouted.
The Frostbane Sword in his hand kept reaping Blood Ravens’ lives, but after all this killing, it felt like the flock barely shrank—the sky was still black with wings. Evan felt powerless.
"Big Sis Luna, is there any way to wipe out these things? I’ve been killing them forever and it barely makes a dent. If this keeps up, I’m worried Selena and the others might get hurt—that would be a disaster." Evan asked the Sword Spirit mentally.
"Blood Ravens are a real nuisance. They’re not powerful, but there are just too many. The only way to deal with a flock like this is to find their leader or king and subdue or kill it," the Sword Spirit replied.
"But how am I supposed to know which one’s the leader? They all look about the same size. Isn’t the leader usually bigger than the rest?" Evan asked, puzzled.
"Blood Ravens are different from other beasts. Their strength isn’t about size—it’s about the number of golden feathers. Look closely; every Blood Raven has one or two golden feathers on its head. The leader will have several, maybe even dozens!" the Sword Spirit explained.
With thousands of Blood Ravens around, spotting the ones with extra golden feathers was nearly impossible. Evan felt a wave of helplessness at the challenge.
