"Why?" Cici couldn't help but ask.
"Back then, I started my research because of Nora Yun. Now that Nora is gone... I've lost the right to stand by her side. There's no point in continuing. Besides, even if I keep running away, sooner or later I'll have to take over my father's business." Evan Wang looked at Cici with a slightly awkward expression. "I don't want to make things difficult for you. After all, asking you to beg the people at Yin Enterprises is unfair to you."
Cici opened her mouth, but couldn't say anything.
Evan Wang continued, "Besides, our Wang family was the one who wronged you in the first place. What right do we have to ask for your help?"
Cici wanted to say that she had already helped.
She had already agreed to go to Japan with Charles Yin on business, in exchange for forgiveness for the Wang family.
"Let's sit down and talk." Cici walked ahead into a small pavilion.
Inside the pavilion were comfortable cushions, a soft carpet, and a small table with simple fruit and tea snacks.
Evan Wang adjusted his glasses and sat down across from Cici.
"Back then, I ran away from home because I was angry about my father's illegitimate daughter. It's been years now, and I should go back. I'm not a child anymore; I can't keep acting out." Evan Wang gave a self-deprecating smile. "I used to think that if I studied hard enough, I'd be worthy to stand beside Nora Yun. But later I realized, even if I worked my whole life, I might never catch up to her. To me, she's a goddess."
Cici looked at the refined man before her, listening as he spoke of his admiration and affection for her sister. Cici felt a warm glow in her heart.
Though her sister's life was short, there were many who loved her.
In the end, it was all worth it.
So, I've thought it through. Hobbies are fine to enjoy occasionally, but life must go on. In the past, my father indulged me, so I could fully enjoy my interests and the fun of doing experiments. But now, the Wang family in the Capital City is starting to decline. As his son, even if we argue, there has to be a limit. Besides, my mother threatened her own life... Look at me, why am I telling you all this?" Evan Wang gave a self-deprecating smile.
So, are you planning to go back to the Capital City?" Cici couldn't help but ask.
Yes. I'll leave after today." Evan Wang nodded. "All of Newport City's branch companies have been completely wiped out by Yin Enterprises. There's no point in me staying."
Cici's face flushed red.
For some reason, Cici always felt like her family had bullied someone, and now that person was coming to confront her.
Cici had already subconsciously started to think of herself and Charles Yin as family.
Also, I really need to apologize to you again. My father kidnapped you because you look so much like Nora Yun. In the Capital City... our family is considered high society, and my father has always been arrogant. He wanted to kidnap you and give you to me as compensation, as a gift. After all, everyone in the family knew I liked Nora Yun years ago." Evan Wang adjusted his glasses again, looking embarrassed. "Actually, three years ago, when my father came to Summerville, he met a woman who looked just like Nora Yun, but he lost track of her. Anyway, let's not talk about that. I'm apologizing now and I promise it will never happen again. If you ever come to the Capital City, be sure to call me. I'll make sure to take good care of you!"
Cici's expression shifted slightly, and she nodded gently.
She was definitely going to the Capital City.
The Capital City was the country's center for economy, politics, culture, and more. If you could establish yourself there, you could gain a foothold in any field.
That man from the Yin family is truly terrifying. You must be careful." Evan Wang hesitated, then warned Cici, "He's the most frightening man I've ever met. He can decide someone's fate with a casual word. Even though the Capital City isn't his domain, and he never gets involved in domestic politics, he still has the means and power to make my father tremble."
Charles Yin?
Of course he had that ability.
Even if he stayed out of domestic politics, he already held immense power in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
With such a formidable background, how could the authorities not show him respect?
With someone that powerful, it's better to win him over than make him an enemy. Anyone can see that.
Wayne Wang relied on his family's connections in the Capital City, but in that place, you could throw a stone and hit an official.
No matter how high your position, in the Capital City, it doesn't mean much.
Can anyone really be more powerful than those few?
I've said everything I needed to say." Evan Wang seemed to breathe a sigh of relief, looking at Cici with a complicated expression. "I always feel I shouldn't see you too often, because you look so much like Nora Yun. It's not just your face, it's your whole aura. You two are twins, so it's no wonder your personalities are similar too."
Evan Wang left the rest unsaid.
He didn't dare say more, worried that if he kept seeing her, he'd fall for Cici.
Cici understood, but pretended not to.
A smart woman knows when to play dumb.
If someone is impossible for you, never give them even the slightest bit of hope.
Cici wasn't the kind of woman who liked to string people along.
Hurting others just to benefit herself—that was something Cici would never do, nor did she care to.
As a proud daughter of the Yun family, her love would only ever belong to one person.
Thank you for the warning." Cici gave a faint smile. "But don't worry, the Yin family won't target your father anymore. Charles Yin already promised me, and he's not the kind of man to break his word."
Evan Wang was stunned for a moment. "You trust him?"
Cici nodded seriously.
No matter how cold and ruthless Charles Yin was to others, he had always kept his word with her.
Evan Wang smiled with relief and nodded solemnly. "I'll be waiting for you in the Capital City!"

Alright." Cici reached out and shook Evan Wang's hand lightly. "See you in the Capital City!"
After saying goodbye to Evan Wang, Cici turned and walked away.
She hadn't gone far when Emma Yin suddenly appeared in front of her.
"Cici Grant, you shouldn't have come back." Emma Yin didn't wait for Cici to react—she grabbed Cici's wrist, her eyes glaring fiercely.
Cici was startled.
Looking closely, she saw it was a stranger—a woman with a fierce look staring at her.
Cici frowned.
Another woman she used to know?
This woman looked so hostile—it was obvious that before she lost her memory, they hadn't been on good terms.
Cici didn't say anything and quickly stepped back two paces.
Seeing Cici eye her warily, Emma Yin grew even angrier and said darkly, "Who is the woman Xiao Heng likes? Do you know or not?"
The woman Xiao Heng likes?
How on earth would she know?
Cici's frown relaxed. Was this woman's whole reason for stopping her just to ask that question?
Why don't you just ask him yourself? What does it have to do with me?" Cici replied coldly.
Emma Yin's eyes turned icy as she stepped closer, closing the distance between them and raising her hand to slap Cici!
That was just how domineering she was!
That was just how arrogant she was!
She was always arrogant and domineering, no matter the occasion!
But Cici wasn't the type to just stand there and let herself be bullied. She stepped back again, ready to dodge Emma Yin's slap.
But as she stepped back, she unexpectedly fell into a stranger's embrace.
Before Cici could react, someone behind her grabbed Emma Yin's wrist, sounding annoyed: "Emma Yin, what do you think this place is? Who do you think you are to act out here?"
Taking advantage of the moment, Cici slipped out of the stranger's arms. When she turned around, she was briefly stunned.
The person who helped her—was it Ethan Yin?
When Emma Yin saw Ethan Yin suddenly appear and grab her wrist, she struggled but couldn't break free. Furious, she shouted, "Who do you think you are, Ethan Yin? You dare stop me? You're just the Yin family's bastard who was left outside—you really think you're the second young master now?"
Ethan Yin's handsome face darkened.
"Ethan Yin, don't make me hurt you. You may have entered the Yin family's gates, but May Yan and May Ying are still out there!" Emma Yin continued to threaten him. "I can't do anything to you, but I can do something to them!"
Ethan Yin's eye twitched for a moment.
May Yan and May Ying were his bottom line.
Emma Yin struggled again, and Ethan Yin finally let go of her wrist.
"Ethan Yin, this is a private matter. You'd better stay out of it." Emma Yin shot Cici a sideways glance, then looked back at Ethan Yin. "What, have you fallen for her?"
A burst of fury flashed in Ethan Yin's eyes. "Emma Yin, are you looking for trouble?"
"That woman is a witch—seducing men everywhere." Emma Yin sneered. "I never thought both Yin family heirs would fall for her. Tsk tsk, what an interesting discovery!"
Cici was speechless. Was this woman crazy?
Don't talk nonsense. I just can't stand seeing you bully people." Ethan Yin forced down his anger. "Don't think you can do whatever you want just because you're a Yin. There are plenty of branches in the Yin family—losing yours wouldn't matter much."
Emma Yin remembered her father's branch company—most of the shares had already fallen into Ethan Yin's hands. Her anger only grew.
But she knew it wouldn't be easy to pick a fight with Cici today. She could only grumble, "You're lucky this time. We'll see about next time! Hmph!"
With that, Emma Yin turned and stormed off!
Watching the crazy woman leave, Cici finally let out a breath of relief. She turned to Ethan Yin and said, "Thank you."
Ethan Yin shook his head. "And thank you for listening to all my nonsense that day."
Cici was momentarily surprised, then she smiled.
The day Ethan Yin was found by the Yin family, everyone else had forgotten about him. Cici had simply felt sorry for him and comforted him a little—she never expected it would be repaid today.
Kindness really does come back to you!
