When Evan Lin returned, Lynn Ling and the Emerald Immortal Empress came over. "Linfeng, how are your injuries? What happened to the Yin–Yang Demon Empress?" Lynn Ling asked.
"I killed her. That battle was the toughest I've ever faced—honestly, I almost didn't make it back. Her strength was far beyond anything you could imagine," Evan Lin said, still shaken.
"I knew you'd come back! No matter how strong the Yin–Yang Demon Empress is, she's nothing compared to my husband. After all, my husband is the strongest in the Immortal Realm—how could the Demonic Realm's number one possibly be your match?" Lynn Ling declared.
Evan Lin glanced around the army camp and saw Yvonne Xuan and Serena Frost meditating to heal their wounds. The other top experts were also covered in injuries, busy recovering. Only Lynn Ling and the Emerald Immortal Empress seemed relatively better off.
"You've all worked hard. Now that the Demonic Realm's army has been defeated and is retreating, I may need to head to the Demonic Realm once I've recovered. When the time comes, you two can come with me," Evan Lin said.
The Emerald Immortal Empress and Lynn Ling were both confused, not understanding why Evan Lin needed to go to the Demonic Realm. "Why do you need to go there? And how exactly did the Yin–Yang Demon Empress die? What kind of strength did she have to injure you so badly?" Lynn Ling couldn't help but ask.
"The Yin–Yang Demon Empress was the strongest opponent I've ever faced. She reached the early God-Lord Realm—though she could only maintain that level for a short time. It was precisely that God-Lord power that nearly killed me.
Just thinking about it still gives me chills. God-Lord Realm—that's three whole tiers above me! The fact that I could kill her almost feels unreal," Evan Lin said.
Lynn Ling wasn't too familiar with the God-Lord Realm, but the Emerald Immortal Empress understood. She looked at Evan Lin in shock. "My lord, you really are a war god. To slay a God-Lord Realm powerhouse before even ascending to the God Realm—it's truly unbelievable."
"Is the God-Lord Realm really that powerful? Why can't I wrap my head around it?" Lynn Ling asked, her face full of confusion as she looked at Evan Lin and the Emerald Immortal Empress.
"The God-Lord Realm is basically like Golden Immortal level, and you're just at the strength of a regular Immortal. For a normal Immortal to kill a Golden Immortal—do you realize how unbelievable that is? Crossing so many realms to slay your opponent is practically legendary," said the Emerald Immortal Empress.
Lynn Ling seemed to understand. "Linfeng, you're amazing! That fight must've been insanely dangerous. By the way, why do you need to go to the Demonic Realm?"
"Selena's soul wasn't devoured by the Yin–Yang Demon Empress. Since she was a woman, the Empress spared her and locked her away in the Abyss of Ten Thousand Demons. That place is full of ancient, vicious demonic remnants—a truly dangerous spot. But to save Selena, I have to go," Evan Lin said seriously.
"So that's it. Don't worry, Jade and I will go with you. But we need everyone to recover first. Sect Master Jade Qin is the worst off—her Immortal Infant was severely damaged. If she weren't so strong, she might've died already," Lynn Ling said.
"I know. With Gavin Wei here, I'm sure she'll be fine. There's no need to worry—everyone's injured, so let's focus on recovery. Even though we've defeated the Demonic army, there's still a lot to clean up," Evan Lin said.
The three of them found an open spot and sat down to recover. The Immortal Realm soldiers also began healing their wounds on the spot, but every face was lit up with a victorious smile.
A day later, Evan Lin finished recovering—his injuries were seventy percent healed, and with half a day more, he'd be fully restored. Yvonne Xuan and Serena Frost also emerged from meditation, and when they saw Evan, both were so moved they burst into tears.
"Linfeng, I thought I'd never see you again. I can't believe I got another chance—I'm so happy," Yvonne Xuan said.
Evan Lin raised an eyebrow. "Seriously? You thought I'd die, so you wouldn't get to see me? Is that how you treat your husband, Yvonne?"
"That's not what I meant! I just meant this battle was so dangerous, Serena and I both thought we'd die. If we were dead, how could we see you? You misunderstood—we'd never want you dead! Are you saying that on purpose?" Yvonne Xuan retorted quickly.
"Alright, I get what you mean—I was just joking with you. How are your injuries? Maybe we should head back to Frostbane Imperial Palace to recover; it's a bit inconvenient here in the army camp," Evan Lin suggested.
"I'm about sixty percent recovered. You think we're as freakish as you? No matter how badly you're hurt, you heal in a few days. You should go check on Nolan Nangong—I really hope he pulls through," Yvonne Xuan said.
Evan Lin walked over to Nolan Nangong. At that moment, Nolan's eyes were tightly shut, his face deathly pale and without a trace of color. But with Evan's powerful divine sense, he could tell Nolan was still breathing—just very weakly.
Gavin Wei had just finished treating Nolan Nangong. He glanced at Evan Lin and said, "Boss, Nolan's injuries are severe. I used golden-needle acupuncture to stabilize him for now—he's not in mortal danger, but waking him up will be very difficult."
"It's the same for Sect Master Jade Qin. Both of their Immortal Infants have been badly damaged. Without top-grade spiritual herbs, there's no way to heal them. The Immortal Realm has some of what we need, but we're still missing one crucial ingredient—and it's not found here. That's what's giving me a headache," Gavin Wei said.
"What ingredient is it, and where can we find it? Is it in the God Realm? If so, there's nothing I can do—even if I ascended and got the herb, I couldn't bring it back down," Evan Lin said urgently. Nolan Nangong and Jade Qin meant the world to him.
"It's not in the God Realm, but in the Demonic Realm. The herb is called Soul Mushroom—formed from countless souls, it contains immense soul power. It's incredibly effective for healing Immortal Infants or injured souls. With the right Immortal Realm herbs, we could cure them both completely," Gavin Wei explained.
"But Soul Mushroom is nearly impossible to find. I only know it's in the Demonic Realm, but I have no idea where exactly—or even what it looks like," Gavin Wei said helplessly.
"Don't worry, Gavin. Leave the Soul Mushroom to me—I'm heading to the Demonic Realm anyway. Maybe I'll bring it back when I return. In the meantime, please do your best to keep Nolan and Jade stable," Evan Lin said.
"Don't worry, boss—I've got this. Don't forget, I'm the Divine Healer!" Gavin Wei said with a grin.
