The Fake Envoy

Evan Yang followed them curiously. Suddenly, a massive burst of flame erupted from underground, setting their activity area ablaze. The people could only use simple methods, fetching water to try and put out the fire.

But Evan Yang knew that relying on their efforts alone would take forever. With a wave of his hand, he summoned powerful hail that wiped out the fiery entrance. Everyone watched as the ice steamed.

At the same time, the people stared at Evan Yang in shock—it was simply unbelievable.

"You saved them," Master Clara said to Evan Yang.

"Isn't there anyone strong here?" Evan Yang wondered. In such a large tribe, everyone lived primitively. Master Clara shook her head, "Only the great tribes have strong ones. Small tribes like ours don't."

Hearing this, Evan Yang sighed, "Can you tell me about those great tribes?"

"You really want to find them?" Master Clara asked. Evan Yang nodded, "Yes, I have something important to do here. No matter what, I must enter that place and obtain the liquid inside."

"Alright, to repay you for saving us, I'll take you there," Master Clara said. Evan Yang smiled, "Thank you."

"You're welcome. Let's go," Master Clara said to Evan Yang.

Evan Yang followed Master Clara as they left. On the way, seeing Master Clara walking, Evan Yang frowned, "Let me carry you."

"No way, you have to walk there. I know you're strong, but you can't just fly over—something bad will happen," Master Clara said. Evan Yang was confused—why couldn't he fly? When he asked her, she just dodged the question. So he asked curiously, "How do you know our language?"

"I was born knowing a bunch of languages," Master Clara replied. Evan Yang shot her a doubtful look. "Seriously?"

"What do you think?" Master Clara smiled at Evan Yang.

Evan Yang didn't really buy it, but since she acted so convincingly, he dropped the subject and kept walking with her.

As they walked, Evan Yang looked around and saw nothing but forest. Not only that, his Divine Sense gradually stopped working—he could only rely on his eyes to see the surroundings. He frowned, "Strange, why can't I use Divine Sense here?"

"Your tricks don't work here. And you can't fly either. Try it if you don't believe me," Master Clara said.

Evan Yang didn't believe her, so he tried—and sure enough, as soon as he lifted off, he crashed right back down, face-first. On the ground he felt normal, but in the air, it was totally different.

"So, how does it feel?" Master Clara laughed. Evan Yang rubbed his head and grinned. "Now I'm really curious about you guys. How many people live here? What kind of folks are you?"

"There are many tribes here. Those with strength can form great tribes, and under each great tribe are many smaller ones. As for us, we're just an insignificant small tribe under one of the great tribes," Master Clara explained.

Evan Yang eyed Master Clara skeptically and muttered, "Is that so?"

Master Clara nodded. From that moment, Evan Yang began to take an interest in this world. He followed her, venturing deeper, until three days later they arrived at a city nestled in a mountain basin, surrounded by large mountains.

"This is the Bear Tribe's city. Here, you can find one of the great tribes—the Bear Tribe. They are responsible for guarding the entrance. If you want to get in, you can try your luck and see how their chief decides," Master Clara explained.

"Alright, but will they understand me?" Evan Yang asked, sounding skeptical. Master Clara hesitated, then sighed, "Fine, I'll go with you."

Evan Yang was surprised and grateful that Master Clara would accompany him. "Thanks," he said.

"Well, you did save our tribe," Master Clara smiled, then led Evan Yang into the city. All the houses were stone, and Evan's unusual appearance drew plenty of attention.

Some people were curious about where Evan Yang came from. If Master Clara hadn't been with him, they might've thought he was an intruder. Even so, a few people trailed after them.

Evan Yang glanced back, curious. "Who are these people?"

Master Clara laughed. "They're wary of you. Don't worry, I'll say something." She muttered a few words, and the group dispersed. Evan Yang asked, "What did you tell them?"

"Me? I said you're a special envoy, so they'd better not mess with you or the chief will be angry," Master Clara smiled.

"Envoy? What kind of envoy?" Evan Yang asked, not quite getting it.

"Here, none of the big tribes bow to each other, but they all fear a certain force. Nobody knows who they are, but whenever someone from that force shows up, they're called an envoy. So envoys are respected everywhere," Master Clara said with a smile.

Evan Yang frowned. "Isn't that kind of a scam? What if they find out?"

"Relax, there's no way they'll know. Besides, you really look the part—envoys talk just like you do," Master Clara laughed.

Evan Yang was taken aback, but quickly realized these envoys must be from his own world. But what kind of force were they? He thought he knew every power in the Immortal Realm, so this made him uneasy.

Seeing Evan Yang's frown, Master Clara asked, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing, I'm just curious what these envoys really are," Evan Yang said with a smile.

Master Clara laughed. "Don't overthink it. We're almost there—see that stone fortress up ahead?"

Evan Yang looked ahead and saw a massive stone fortress guarded by tribesmen. When they reached the gate, Master Clara whispered to the guards, and they were let in without trouble.

"How'd you get us in? You didn't say I'm an envoy again, did you?" Evan Yang asked.

"Yeah, but be careful inside. Don't say anything reckless—some people here can talk directly with envoys and will understand everything we say. If that happens, we're in trouble," Master Clara warned.

Evan Yang nodded, "Alright, I understand. Thank you." After that, Evan Yang fell silent. A while later, a guard approached—unlike the others, he carried a wooden staff and pointed at Master Clara, muttering something. Master Clara argued back.

The two seemed to be arguing, until Master Clara pointed at Evan Yang and said something. Only then did the guard calm down.

The guard left, leaving Evan Yang and Master Clara standing there. Evan asked, "What were you two talking about for so long?"

"That was the tribe's vice-chief. He runs things here. When he saw me, he asked what I was doing. I said someone wanted to see the chief, but he refused. Then I mentioned you, said you were an envoy, so he had to call the chief," Master Clara explained.

Evan Yang understood. He was genuinely grateful for this envoy identity—without it, he'd have a hard time getting close to these people.

After a while, the ground began to shake. Evan Yang was puzzled—what could cause that in a fortress? But then he was stunned: a giant strode out, staring at Evan and mumbling. Evan looked at Master Clara, who started translating.

The giant said, "You're an envoy? Who sent you?"

Evan Yang thought for a moment and had Master Clara translate, "I was sent from above. I need to enter the mountains to collect some yang water."

The chief listened and asked suspiciously, "An envoy coming for yang water? What's the story?"

"Someone above was injured and needs it. I hope you can take me there," Evan Yang said to the chief.

The chief said, "This is something guarded by all our big tribes. We can't just hand it out."

Hearing that, Evan Yang said sharply, "Are you refusing an envoy?"

The chief's expression changed. "Of course not. If that's the case, I'll take you. The other chiefs will be there too."

Evan Yang kept having Master Clara translate. The whole exchange went back and forth, with Master Clara acting as interpreter, until the chief led Evan and Clara away.

They arrived at the entrance to a teleportation array. Evan Yang was surprised and asked Master Clara, "Is this a teleportation array?"

"Yeah, it is," Master Clara replied.

Evan Yang frowned. "That's weird—I didn't expect you guys to have teleportation arrays too."

With questions swirling in his mind, Evan Yang stepped into the teleportation array. When he appeared again, he was on a mountaintop. In the distance, thick mist made it impossible to see what was inside. The chief said, "Wait here—the other chiefs will arrive soon."

Evan Yang was confused—wasn't this just about getting some liquid? Why did so many people have to show up? So he waited until five more giants arrived.

The chiefs gathered, and Evan Yang explained his purpose again. They discussed among themselves, then one chief finally said, "If you want yang water, you'll have to pass our test."

Evan Yang was surprised. "What test?"

"It's simple. If you want yang water, you have to fight us. If you win, it's yours. If you lose, you leave," one of the chiefs said.

Evan Yang nodded. "Alright, I'll fight you."
