To unleash the Heart-Sword, one must guide the sword with the heart, achieving a state where body and mind unite—becoming one with the blade. Evan Chu had grasped this long ago, but now, treating the Frostbane Sword as a true magic treasure meant it was far more complicated than simply wielding the Heart-Sword.
To guide the sword with the heart, the mind must remain calm in the face of danger, wholly focused and undisturbed. This is much harder than controlling a magic treasure with incantations, but once mastered, its power is immense. Heart-Sword attacks can transform into martial skills, not just simple magic treasure strikes.
Evan Chu slowly began to comprehend how to make the Heart-Sword move as freely as his own arm, able to unleash different martial skills at will. Although he had one plain, unremarkable sword strike, its power was too weak—compared to Sevenfold Absolute Cleave, it wasn't even on par with the first form.
Time is the best medicine for healing wounds of the heart, and also the most effective way to grow stronger. Unconsciously, Evan Chu entered a state of emptiness—sitting as still as an old monk in deep meditation, eyes half-closed and face utterly expressionless.
At that moment, he felt like a tiny boat adrift on a vast ocean, pushed ever closer to shore by the waves, yet always at risk of being capsized by sudden storms. Comprehending the Heart-Sword was just as perilous—a single misstep could damage his heart meridians with consequences beyond imagining. But Evan Chu himself was completely unaware of the danger.
If he relied solely on guiding the sword with his heart, the power would be ordinary. But if he could fuse with the elemental particles of heaven and earth and borrow their force, the resulting might would be unprecedented. By letting the resonant elemental particles drive his sword, merging his heart with the blade into a complementary relationship, his Heart-Sword would truly become a magic treasure—or even surpass one.
Once Evan Chu understood this, he didn’t rush to try it. Every step had to be flawless—any mistake could unleash devastating elemental energy and strike his heart meridians fatally. At one point, Evan Chu suddenly realized this risk.
Though he seemed to be calmly meditating, the sweat beading on his face made everyone anxious. At this moment, Roxanne Lin, Macy Mei, and Serena Frost were all quietly watching him from nearby.
Since Evan Chu entered his trance, no Immortal Essence had flowed into his body. At first, no one noticed, but after a day, then two, then a month, and now more than a year had passed with no sign of him absorbing Immortal Essence—everyone began to find it strange.
Meditation is a good way to raise one's heart-realm, and sometimes it leads to sudden breakthroughs in martial skills or divine powers. But the sweat soaking Evan Chu’s face and body made people uneasy—it was a sign of possible qi-deviation, and with his realm rising so fast, many worried his foundation was unstable.
"Should we wake him up? I'm really worried something dangerous might happen," Roxanne Lin whispered.
"But what if waking him up is even more dangerous? What is he doing, anyway—how can anyone sit motionless for a whole year and not absorb any Immortal Essence?" Macy Mei said, still puzzled.
The two women looked to Serena Frost. She alone had the highest heart-realm and, as a native of the Immortal Realm, knew far more than the others. They hoped she could offer some advice.
"Don't disturb him for now. Let's keep observing. Maybe he's working through a mental knot, or battling his inner demons. If you wake him rashly, it could trigger a rebound and no one can predict the consequences," Serena Frost said.
Hearing this, the two women grew even more worried. But Evan Chu still wouldn’t wake up, leaving them anxious. Meanwhile, Evan himself was relieved to have noticed the danger, and after slowly calming his mood, he returned to normal.
Even so, the three women didn’t dare leave his side. Then, at one moment, Evan Chu opened his eyes, his face lighting up with excitement as he shouted, "I've got it! I've got it!" and leapt to his feet, startling all three.
Seeing their shocked faces, Evan Chu finally realized the three women were standing right in front of him and found it odd. He asked, "Why aren't you cultivating? Why are you all staring at me? Don't tell me I've got flowers painted on my face?"
"Evan, what the heck were you doing, sitting there motionless for two whole years? We were worried sick about you!" Roxanne Lin complained.
"Two years? That’s not so long. I was comprehending a new offensive skill. You know in the Immortal Realm there are magic treasures—like Serena Frost’s Tri-Mystic Tower. If I’m not mistaken, with the right incantation, the Tri-Mystic Tower can suck people right inside, can’t it?" Evan Chu said.
"That's right. The Tri-Mystic Tower is my life-bound magic treasure. Against someone of similar strength, I can rely on the treasure to kill them outright. Even against an opponent a full realm above, it’s a powerful trump for staying alive—unless we run into a true powerhouse. In the Immortal Realm, magic treasures are as valuable as top-grade Immortal Stones, and some even rival Immortal Crystals," Serena Frost said.
Evan Chu knew she was right, so he said, "Without magic treasures, we're simply weaker than others in the Immortal Realm. That means we have to find a way to treat our own weapons as magic treasures—and I think I've found it. Now I just need to test my theory."
"Evan, to wield a magic treasure you need Immortal incantations, and every treasure has its own. A magic treasure is a weapon forged to resonate with its wielder, made from special materials and packed with powerful prohibitions and formations. You use mental power to activate these arrays or prohibitions for attacks. Some treasures can even borrow the force of heaven and earth. The power of a magic treasure depends on its quality—and on the wielder's strength.
But you don’t even have a magic treasure—how can you possibly treat a weapon as one? Isn’t that just playing around?" Serena Frost asked.
"Whether it’s playing around or not, I can’t say for sure—I need to give it a try. You all should focus on raising your realms. Now that I’m at late Da Luo Golden Immortal, I won’t be breaking through for a while, so don’t worry about me. I know how to look after myself." With that, Evan Chu flashed into the sky.
